GIVING BACK How Grande Dunes is supporting area charities through great events

LIVI N G GR AN DE Dear Grande Dunes Residents,

Welcome to our first Grande Dunes resident newsletter! This publication was created to bring our resident communications into one place. Here you'll find updates about amenities and new construction as well as occasional articles and elements about the Grande Dunes lifestyle. It's our way of celebrating life in this community we love so much, while keeping lines of communication open and clear.

Our inaugural issue has some very exciting features. We have a profile on Peggy Davis, our newest team member. She is your lifestyle director and is here to make it even easier for you to be involved in activities that help you enjoy what you love while meeting other residents. Don't miss our article on Hook & Barrel and Croissants. This fantastic eatery, located within Grande Dunes, is quickly becoming a favorite with the residents here in Myrtle Beach. Lastly, make sure you check out our upcoming events and mark your calendars. You don't want to miss anything this year!

Finally, I want to thank all of the Grande Dunes staff. We have the most talented team members who, on a daily basis, work hard to bring you and your guests the best possible service. They really love what they do, so be sure to say hello and introduce yourself. Working together, we are excited to make Grande Dunes the best it can be—for you, your guests and our Myrtle Beach neighbors.

GRANDE DUNES

Gives Back BE PART OF OUR SUMMER AND FALL DRIVES In our commitment to the greater community, Grande Dunes has donated more than $24,000 to the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Sertoma Club and Hope House to name just a few. In June, we were honored to partner with New Directions, which provides shelter to men, women and families. For July, we are thrilled to support Help4Kids/Backpack Buddies, an organization that collects food and supplies for Horry County children in need.

WE NEED YOUR HELP During July, we have collected: •

Summer toy supplies such as outdoor toys, balls, hula hoops, markers, crayons, glue and construction paper

Food such as white bread, hot dog buns, jars of peanut butter and jelly, mac and cheese, pork and beans, ravioli, cupcakes, cookies, chips, Pop-Tarts, cereal, juice/Kool Aid (individual size) and fruit cups

For August and September, we’ll continue collecting: •

Supplies such as wide-ruled paper, black and white composition books, pencils, highlighters, glue, scissors and crayons

Food such as canned pasta, Vienna sausage, peanut butter crackers, pudding or fruit cups, and flavored oatmeal

Donation bins will be set up at the Ocean Club, Members Club, Marina Ship Store and Grande Dunes Properties Office and at Marina Park events. No gift is too small! Every donation helps us make a difference for our neighbors.

We want to thank everyone at Grande Dunes who allowed Habitat to be part of the Derby Day event at Grande Dunes Marina. With the match ticket sales and raffle sales, Habitat and Sertoma were able to raise $15,000 that will go to help local families and children in Horry County. We’ve already had people asking if the event will be around next year, and hopefully we can partner with you all again to keep the event going! to be sustainable — from using trees originally on the lot inside the building, unbreakable dinnerware and eco-friendly “paper” products, all the way to the menu items chosen for their sustainability.

Hook & Barrel has an open kitchen, as well as a Steam Galley in the dining room, where oysters, clams and shrimp are cooked to perfection, and induction cooktops on the bar, where guests can watch Shrimp Scampi made to order right in front of them.

The most popular menu item, the Harvest of the Sea, is Hook & Barrel’s version of a fresh catch. Guests select from a variety of fresh fish and then choose its preparation method and house-made sauce. Another favorite, the Seafood Tower, includes fresh oysters, crab claws, shrimp cocktail, ceviche and a lobster tail.

Restaurateur Vukov is thrilled to have two restaurants in Grande Dunes. “We were immediately welcomed and enjoy Grande Dunes’ sense of community.” said Vukov. “If you haven’t tried us yet, stop by Croissants Bistro & Bakery for breakfast, lunch, or a quick cup of delicious freshly roasted coffee, and don’t miss Hook & Barrel for Happy Hour, dinner and Sunday brunch!”

Vukov, named one of four 2018 South Carolina Chef Ambassadors by Governor Henry McMaster, represents the state at key tourism and agricultural events. She also uses the platform to promote Myrtle Beach. She is the first in the state with a pastry background to be chosen a Chef Ambassador, and, in 2011, she was South Carolina Restaurateur of the Year.

HOW DO WE PRICE HOMES IN GRANDE DUNES? In real estate, especially during buying or selling times, the biggest question is “What is a property worth?” Yes, other things, amenities, are important — but how is price established? An appraiser could give you a general idea. However, real estate prices in Colorado or New York do not reflect what is happening here, town to town and community to community.

COMMUNITY UPDATES It’s hard to believe we are halfway through 2018; here are some impressive midyear updates: Peggy Davis, your new Lifestyle Director has been hard at work creating resident activities to help you make the most out of your life at Grande Dunes. Many of these activities will take place at the Ocean Club, making the most of this fabulous resource. Have an idea for a club or activity? Make sure to connect with Peggy and share your thoughts. The Marina Park events are also getting more publicity and attendance from both residents and locals. Our free monthly movie night and concerts have been a huge success, and we appreciate all your support. Please follow our Facebook page so you can see all the exciting events going on at Marina Park. The Highway 17 beautification has really got the locals, city officials and residents talking. It has made a huge difference when you are on Grande Dunes property and we are proud of how it looks. Our beautification efforts are just one more reason Grande Dunes is considered the Myrtle

Beach community. We have completed the first phase of plantings and will start the next phase in the fall. The Grande Dunes monumentation is well on its way, with 62nd Avenue close to being completed. We’ve started on the main entrance and are excited to see the new design take shape. Soon you will see directional signage around Grande Dunes, and the Grande Dunes pillars changed out along Grande Dunes Blvd. The new directional signage going up will showcase the depth and breadth of Grande Dunes retail and resident amenities to visitors. The traffic light at Kings and Grande Dunes Boulevard is close to completion. New pedestrian walkways, connecting the Marina Village to the Ocean Village, will also help our residents and guests feel safe when crossing the road.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS DOES LSTAR OWN ALL THE AMENITIES AT GRANDE DUNES? Yes, we own the Members Club, Members Golf Course, the Marina, the Anchor Café and the Ocean Club. McConnell Golf, a respected outside management firm, oversees all their operations. Ownership lets us keep these amenities in top condition to support the quality Grande Dunes lifestyle we all enjoy. WHEN WILL INSTALLATION OF THE NEW GRANDE DUNES SIGNAGE BE COMPLETED? Signage on 62nd Avenue should be completed by mid-August, and signage at the main entrance at Grande Dunes Boulevard should be completed by the end of September. We hope you enjoy these enhanced entrances and that the additional signage helps guests and contractors find their way to you more easily. WILL YOU BE DOING ANY MORE SIGNAGE? Yes, we plan to update signage throughout the community, starting with the directional signage that runs along Grande Dunes Boulevard from the Bypass to the Ocean Club. WHEN WILL WE SEE RESULTS FROM THE HIGHWAY 17 BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT? The planted saplings take time to mature, and we will see them fill out a bit by year-end. Later, we will shape them for a more professional look. Landscaping, especially with new plants, takes time. Next year we will complete two more project phases along the Bypass.

WHAT’S THE LATEST ON THE TRAFFIC LIGHT AT GRANDE DUNES BOULEVARD AND KINGS HIGHWAY? We are working with the City of Myrtle Beach and the South Carolina Department of Transportation to finalize its design elements. We hope to have the lights fully installed sometime first quarter next year. I HAVE A GREAT IDEA FOR A CLUB/ACTIVITY. HOW DO I GET STARTED? Reach out to Peggy to suggest a program that reflects your particular interests. Peggy is here to organize and develop the activities that residents want. She also needs volunteers to coordinate and/or lead clubs and workshops. Contact her at Peggy.Davis@GrandeDunes.com. MAY I PARTICIPATE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH GROUP THAT IS FORMING? Yes, by all means. We recently had our first meeting, and others will follow. The group is looking for residents from each neighborhood to kick off this initiative. They will email you with more information as it develops.

Keep yard work — in your yard Thanks to all Grande Dunes homeowners who make the effort to beautify their property. Please advise your landscape contractors, however, that yard material and debris may not be stored on common areas, streets or adjacent owner lots. When people abuse these areas, all owners bear the cleanup expense. Keeping our common areas uncluttered means our community looks its best and avoids unnecessary expense.
