GRANDE DUNES CARES
What do sewing machines, scissors, wires, T-shirt yarn, and fabric all have in common? Sixty-six awesome volunteers and over 2,300 face masks! We are so proud of all our volunteers who sacrificed their time on the beach, reading a good book, spending time with their families, gardening, etc… to help us make a difference for our healthcare workers and first responders in the Myrtle Beach area.

We started our “Mask Project” by partnering up with Britt Bird, the founder of MakeMasksforAmerica.org. She had the orders coming in and we had the volunteers to help meet the demand. We started our project the first week of April and didn’t stop until the end of May.
We delivered to several medical facilities, nursing homes and to the City of Myrtle Beach for their first responders and city workers.
Below is a note received from John Cowan, Purchasing Manager for the City of Myrtle Beach:
Grande Dunes,
Words cannot express the heartfelt thanks. The City employees recognize the time, effort and materials you and the individuals that have made these masks put into this project. These masks will support the City of Myrtle beach front line personnel. Again, our thanks to you for making these beautiful masks for the City of Myrtle Beach.
Regards, John Cowan

Grande Dunes Cares also did a food and paper drive for Backpack Buddies and Help4Kids in April and May. Thank you to everyone who donated all the food and paper products for those in need. We will be concentrating on helping our charities in the months to come. In the month of June we will focus on “A Day of Hope,” which helps underprivileged kids get ready for the new school year by supplying them with all their supplies and personal essentials as well as new socks and shoes, haircuts and dental checkups, etc. Thanks to their efforts, children can go to school feeling good and with hope in their hearts.
Look for the donation boxes set out at the Ocean Club. We need your help to fill 150 bags of essentials. Each bag needs to be filled with these items: 1 Laundry Detergent (2 qt Liquid) 1 Box Fabric Softener Sheets (100-120 sheets) 1 Liquid Dish Detergent (20-24 oz) 2 Toothpaste (2 regular sized tubes-5-6 oz in a box) Toothbrushes (4-5 in a pack or individually sealed) 1 Deodorant (2.6 oz) 1 Shampoo (12 oz-24 oz bottle) separate, not 2 1 Conditioner (12 oz-24 oz bottle) in one please 6 Bars of Soap (sealed and full size) Thank you in advance for always thinking of others who are less fortunate.
July is Backpack Buddies and Help4Kids. August is New Directions, the homeless shelter that helps people transition back into being a productive member of society. They believe in a hand up, not a hand out.
