Dear Valued Guest, As we begin to adapt to our new normal, for many of us the desire to travel in 2021 — to see distant cities and villages, experience new works of art, architecture, and food is still high. Plus there’s the anticipation and joy of having something to look forward to. The decision to travel is individual. My “insider” perspective is that when you feel the time is right, you’ll find we live in an amazingly welcoming and endlessly fascinating world. You’ll feel greater appreciation and kindness from locals. You’ll find historic sites, museums, artwork, cities and villages are as beautiful and compelling as ever. And you’ll find our Travel Directors and local experts ready and waiting to ensure you have the best vacation. Grand European, our parent company The Travel Corporation (TTC), and its family of brands want you to travel confidently and with peace of mind. To that end, we’ve been leading the tour industry by establishing enhanced hygiene measures and physical distancing standards, collaborating closely with the World Tourism and Travel Council (WTTC) to develop its “Safe Travels and Seamless Traveler Journey” global protocols. We have adapted everything in our business, making your wellbeing our #1 priority. Read more about our new industry leading policies on page 6, which include the announcement of our new Wellbeing Directors — a role you’ll only find when traveling on our brands. When you’re ready to travel, give us a call. We’ve made booking risk free reducing our deposit to just $99 (from $350), and we’ve added total flexibility to change your plans (as many times as you need to) up to 30 days before you depart so you can book and travel with confidence.

SIGHTSEEING

Travel to Europe often requires an overnight flight. Please arrange for flights to arrive on or before Day 1. Day 1  Arrive Madrid Your airport transfer departs Madrid airport for your hotel at 9am, 11.30am, 1.30pm or 4pm. The rest of the day is at leisure to begin to get to know this stylish city. At 6pm, join your tTravel Director for your Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant and enjoy the opportu nity to get to know your fellow travelers over a delightful evening of good food and wine. During your time in Madrid you will travel along the main historical areas in the Capital of Spain known as Madrid of the Bourbons. Your drive will

take you through the Old Quarter discovering the origins of the city. (D) Hotel Riu Plaza De España

Day 2  Madrid – Toledo – Granada Venture south to meet a master craftsperson in a Damascene work shop for a personal insight into this ancient craft handed down by the Moors centuries ago. Continue to the fascinating city of Toledo, situated high above the River Tagus. Walk within the city walls, through the narrow, cobbled streets, led by your ‘Local Expert.’ Visit the Church of Santo Tomé, housing El Greco’s famous painting, The Burial of the Count of Orgaz. Your journey contin ues to Granada. (B,D) Vincci Albayzín Day 3  Granada – Seville (2 Nights)

‘There is no pain in life so cruel as to be blind in Granada,’ cries the inscription on the walls of the Alhambra. Bathed in morning light, the Alhambra Palace awaits — a fantasy of arabesque gardens, fountains and stone cut like lace. Explore with your ‘Local Expert’ and also visit the exotic water gardens of the Generalife, the royal sum mer residence. Embark on a scenic drive to Seville where a ‘Local Expert’ will guide you through the maze of narrow lanes and shady squares of the Santa Cruz Quarter. Emerge by the huge walls of the fabulous Alcazar to see La Giralda, the former minaret of the Great Mosque, but now the cathedral bell tower. Enter the immense 15thcentury cathedral, the final resting place of Christopher Columbus and see his tomb enriched with the spoils of the New World. (B) Ayre Hotel Sevilla (Superior Rooms)

Day 4  Seville Enjoy a day to relax, shop or con tinue exploring this fascinating city at your own pace. Our suggestion is to join an ‘Optional Experience’ to the ancient city of Córdoba, where you will visit the magnificent Mezquita, see the old Jewish Quarter, and enjoy some free time to shop or explore as you wish. Visit Cristina Heeren Foundation, a beneficiary of a TreadRight Foundation grant. This private dance school is dedi cated to promoting the conserva tion of flamenco and supports young enthusiasts from all over the world with a special focus on new talent from the Andalusian region. Put your rhythm to the test during a dance lesson before witnessing emotions come to life in a flamenco performance. With some free time

for dinner, head next door to Triana market and stroll through the many colorful stalls where vendors are selling tapas made from fresh, local produce. (B)

Day 5  Seville – Lisbon (2 Nights) Pass through the oak forests where black Iberian pigs are bred for the famous Spanish hams. Stop in the province of Huelva for a ham cutting demonstration and tasting of the freshest jamón ibérico. (B) Turim Saldanha Hotel

Day 6  Lisbon During your stay, a guided orienta tion of the city with your ‘Local Expert’ takes you along the avenues of the Lower Town and beneath the hilltop Bairro Alto to the Terreiro do Paco, the finest square in the city. Visit the Belém Quarter and enjoy a taste of Pastéis de Belém from the patisserie that has been using the same, secret recipe for almost 200 years. View the Monument to the Discoveries and the more ancient Belém Tower. Visit the 500-yearold Jerónimos Monastery with its beautiful Manueline architecture, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The afternoon is at your leisure. (B) Day 7  Lisbon – Fátima – Salamanca Travel into the green hills north of Lisbon to visit Fátima, the most celebrated place of pilgrimage in Portugal. Visit the Basilica com memorating the appearance of the Virgin Mary to three children in 1917. Cross the border, returning to Spain and continue to Salamanca, famous for its golden stone build ings and the handsome arcades of the Plaza Mayor. Across the River Tormes, see the Puente Romano with 15 of its 26 arches dating from the time of the ancient Romans. (B) Hotel Alameda Palace

Day 8  Salamanca – Ávila – Madrid Cross the rock-strewn hills of the Castile, to arrive at Ávila. Walk within the ancient city that is still entirely enclosed within 11th-cen tury walls, a unique occurrence in Europe. Return to Madrid to explore more of the capital with your ‘Local Expert.’ At a local restaurant, join your Travel Director and newfound friends for a lively Celebration Dinner. (B,D) Hyatt Regency Hesperia Day 9  Madrid – USA Board your onward flight, taking home memories of this exciting journey. Departure transfers arrive at Madrid Airport at 7am, 9am and 11am (flight not included). (B)

Travel Essentials – understanding our terminology, Passports, Visas and trip registration… My GET: Enhance Your Travel Experience Understanding our Terminology Below are descriptions relating to specific terms used within our brochure itinerary pages: Visit In-depth sightseeing with a Local Specialist or Travel Director, which includes fast-track entry (where applicable). View A brief stop to enjoy the sights and take some photos. See Observe sights while passing by on your coach, cruise or train.

Passports and Visas Each guest is responsible for ensuring their passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond the conclusion of their trip and that all necessary visas and permits have been acquired. Multiple-entry visas may be required if you are entering a country more than once on your vacation. Each guest must comply with entry, health and other requirements of the countries visited during your trip. Contact your Travel Specialist, airline or relevant government authorities to obtain the necessary travel information. The Operators and/or their employees and their agents are not responsible for passport, visa, entry, health and other requirements of the countries visited, or for any loss sustained by you for failing to comply with laws, regulations, orders and/or requirements of countries visited.

PACKING FOR YOUR TRIP Guests may bring one full-sized suitcase and one carry-on bag per person. Due to limited luggage space, we ask that your full sized bag does not exceed dimensions of 30”x18”x10” and 50lbs. Space for carry-on bags on motorcoaches is much smaller than on aircraft, and bags with wheels, rigid frames, and telescoping handles cannot be accepted as carry-on luggage. Medium sized backpacks, tote bags, small duffels and messenger bags are all good options for your carry on. For packing tips and other useful information, check out our Expert Advice section at GETours.com.
