Grand Chef de Gare Roger Folmar First it is sad to hear of Lanny Givens passing and also Jack Winslow health issues.

Both have been long time members who have served the Grand well.

They will be missed.

Second, I like to thank everyone on their effort on membership. We are getting closer to our goal and with your help we can make it. So now is not the time to quit.

Finally, don't forget the Grand Promenade is coming up, June 24th and 25th in El Paso. V-605 is hosting the event and are doing a great job in preparing for the Prom. In closing I wish our mothers a happy Mother's Day. Also don't forget our deceased veterans on Memorial Day.

Voyageurs in Sickness and Distress - Grand Conducteur du Texas Jack Winslow is undergoing Chemotherapy and has a very challenging road ahead. Prognosis undetermined and he is not available by phone with all the appointments and treatments scheduled. Jack wanted all to know why he was not able to attend the Spring Cheminot.

Jack does not do Facebook so cards are recommended.

TEXAS VOYAGEUR NEWS of the Grande Voiture officers shall hold office for the term Correspondants Corner of I year or until his successor has been chosen and I may be echoing the Grand Chef’s words, but we hope you are planning to visit El Paso for the Grand Promenade – we know it is a long way because we have to travel it in the other direction to visit you but do your best.

We have great hotel accommodations, every room a suite, a large hospitality room and this is well planned with our American Legion hosts. We’ll have raffles and plenty of unique silent auction items and a great banquet planned.

So Grand Promenade means elections for Grand du Texas.

So it is important to submit a delegate list which may also be accepted at registration.

“Voitures Locale shall have the number of votes in the Grande Promenade equal to the number of delegates to which they are severally entitled provided that at least one (l) of the certified delegates must be duly registered and such registered delegate or delegates may vote the entire certified delegate strength.”

“All nominations will be made from the floor and NO Voyageur will be nominated or elected unless he is present at the Grande Promenade. A majority of the votes cast shall be necessary to elect; in case no candidate secures a majority of the votes cast for all, based upon the first ballot, then the two candidates who have received the highest number of votes shall again be balloted upon. Each

qualified.”

Prior to elections I will announce each Locales voting strength.

I will also take this opportunity as Grand POW/MIA Directeur, that the 2023 POW/MIA pin will cost locales $4.00 each, an increase of $1.00 – due to rising costs and this being a new well-designed pin. I’m working on getting a picture of it.

101st GRANDE PROMENADE OF THE GRANDE VOITURE DU TEXAS

May 5, 2022

In accordance with the Constitution of the Grand Voiture du Texas, the 101st Grand Promenade of La Societe des 40 Hommes et 8 Chevaux, Grand du Texas, will be held in El Paso, Texas on Saturday, June 25, 2022.

PURPOSE The Grande Promenade is called for the purpose of electing Grand Officers for the ensuing year, and for the transaction of such other business as may come before the Grande Promenade.

BASIS OF REPRESENTATION Each Voiture Locale shall be entitled to three (3) delegates and three (3) alternates for the first ten (10) members, and one (1) additional delegate and one (1) alternate for each additional fifteen (15) members or major fraction thereof and such membership shall be calculated as of the date which is thirty (30) prior to the convening of the Grande Promenade. Each Grand Chef de Gare Passe and the sitting Grand Chef de Gare, who are members of a local Voiture, shall be entitled to one (1) vote to be exercised only when personally present on the floor at the time the vote is taken.

Voiture Locales indebted to this Grand Voiture will not be included in the roll call and will not be eligible to vote unless indebtedness is paid.

CREDENTIALS Voiture Delegates’ lists must be sent to the Grand Correspondant, Renslar Keagle, 8714 Marble Dr, El Paso, TX 79904 or via E-mail to: renslarkeagle@gmail.com prior to 9:00 am, Saturday, June 25, 2022.

VOTING STRENGTH OF VOITURES LOCALE Voitures Locale shall have the number of votes in the Grande Promenade equal to the number of delegates to which they are severally entitled, provided that at least one (1) of the certified delegates must be duly registered and such registered delegate or delegates may vote the entire certified delegates strength.

ADMITTANCE TO THE GRANDE PROMENADE Only delegates and alternates holding credentials will be entitled to a vote on the floor of the Grande Promenade duly assembled. Any member of La Societe in good standing will be admitted to the Grande Promenade Hall on presentation of their 2022 membership card to the Grand Garde La Porte.

RESOLUTIONS All resolutions must be submitted in writing to the Grand Correspondant on Saturday morning, June 25, 2022, no later than 9:00 a.m.

GRAND PROMENADE The Grande Promenade is called to begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Paso Del Norte American Legion Post #58, 4724 Vulcan Ave, El Paso, TX 79904.

The election of Grand Officers for 2023 will be held immediately following the transaction of business with installation being held at the discretion of the Grand Chef de Gare.

Lanny Givens passed Sunday, May 1st joining Miriam who passed in Apr 2020. Lanny was Grand Chef de Gare du Texas in 1998 and Sous Chef de Chemin de Fer in 2003.

Lanny was President Central States in 2010 when Texas hosted the event in San Antonio.

Lanny and Miriam did so much for La Societe and the La Femmes for many years.

They will be dearly missed.
