Dear Members, It’s hard to believe it’s already August! This month is a very special one for the Salamander family – we will officially celebrate the one year anniversary of Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg, VA on August 29. In other exciting news, our sister property, Hammock Beach Resort, has been named the top Florida resort in the Continental U.S. on Travel + Leisure’s 2014 “World’s Best Awards” list. August brings us lots of exciting and fun family activities right here at Reunion, too. For the entire month of August, Reunion is offering spa specials that are sure to relax and rejuvenate. On August 31, stop by the Water Park to watch Gatorland’s Gator Wranglers Wrestlin’ Show. Enjoy one last summer hurrah before autumn rolls in with Reunion’s Labor Day Weekend All-American BBQ August 30-31 at the Water Park. For more information on member activities or events, please contact your membership office. Our public relations team has also been hard at work getting the coverage for Reunion and our sister properties. General Manager’s Corner

Time really flies-I can’t believe that August is already upon us! It has been a very busy summer so far here at Reunion Resort & Club, and we look forward to continuing to provide relaxation and fun for the rest of the season to our Members, their guests and our resort guests, too. Replacement and upgrading of needed items around the Club, as well as new projects, continue to occur as a result of approved capital expenditures. We have recently replaced the Clubhouse verandah furniture, resurfaced the tennis courts, completed exterior cleaning of the Clubhouse and Tennis Centre, received additional driving range mats that are in the process of being installed, and added the new gate arm for the Member’s Only Parking Area. Listed below are some current endeavors underway: Additional pool furniture for Centre Court Ridge and the Water Park New pedicure chairs and a massage table for the spa Water Park slide resurfacing and repair of the damaged platforms for the Water Park kiddie feature A new air conditioning system for the Clubhouse dining room Grand Lawn Tent Pavilion renovations to include hard walls, air conditioning, and installation of two staircases from the tent to the lower level; one located behind the fire pit and one located on the east side of the tent near the starter shack Repair and refurbishment of the treads on the bridge on hole number 7 of the Palmer course Golf Members, don’t forget to register for his year’s Member-Guest tournament! MEMBERSHIP RECORDS AUDIT The Reunion Membership Office will be conducting an audit of Membership records in the coming months in order to ensure all information is up-todate and Members are in the proper Membership category. As a reminder, immediate family privileges are offered to a Member, his or her spouse and their unmarried children, under the age of twenty-three (23), who are living at home, attending school on a full-time basis or in the military.

NEW SINGLE FAMILY HOMES RENTAL PROGRAM ANNOUNCED It is with great pleasure that we announce an exciting new direction for our single family homes rental program. Highlights of the new single family homes rental program include: _ No management fee.

Your prompt cooperation is greatly appreciated as we work to ensure that we have the most accurate data on file.

_ The Company’s management commission is 30%, with the remaining 70% share of the rental revenue being distributed to the owner.

_ Resort Guests will have unlimited access to the amenities and facilities of the Club, providing an enormous benefit to renters and offering a distinct advantage over other programs in the Orlando market.

Buzz Wenger Buzz Wenger Chosen to Receive Reunion Club Member Recognition Program (MERP) June Award The winner of June Member Employee Recognition Program (MERP) award is Buzz Wenger, who has been with Reunion for more than 10 years working as a Starter for the Palmer and Watson courses. His ballot read:

During the July Member Reception it was also mentioned that the exceptional, friendly service described by one, is felt by so many of the golf Members. He was presented with a Reunion gift card and a special name tag that symbolizes him as a MERP award recipient. He will be considered, along with other MERP recipients, for the annual award which is a two-night stay in any one of the three Florida Salamander Resorts. Next time you see Buzz, take time to congratulate him for the award he has received, and don’t forget to complete a MERP ballot for other Reunion employees when warranted.

gath erings | 7

“Buzz is the epitome of what good customer service is all about. Always greeting golfers with a smile and remembering Members by name. He makes you feel as though you are coming home and have been missed after being gone for a time. Chances are very good that he will bring a smile to your

face while taking care of all your needs. He makes you feel happy even if you might have arrived in an unpleasant mood.”

Father’s Day/US Open Scramble This year’s Father’s Day Scramble had a great turnout with six teams that played on the Palmer course. Dominating the field was the team of John and Kris Lanman, their daughter and guest with a score of 52.8. In a tight race for second place, winning with a score of 54.1, was the team of Jim and Virginia Shelton and Mark Franco. This year we introduced a new game separate from the traditional Father’s Day scramble. The teams were able to pick a professional from the US Open field, and combine the professional’s final round score in the US Open with their team score from the scramble. The results were as follows:

Congratulations to the Lanman’s team for not only a great pick, but also an outstanding performance! Lanman Lanman Bowers Bono Jordan Spieth Shelton Shelton Franco Dustin Johnson

52.8 + 73 = 125.8

54.1 + 73 = 127.1

REUNION GOLFERS VISIT IRELAND

Reunion golfers in action this summer in Waterville (the number 1 links course in West Ireland, and number 34 in the world)! The group went on to play Tralee, and then the Old Head of Kinsale. The weather was fantastic for the golfer’s trip. Pictured here, from left to right, Reunion members Don Preston, Derek Whelan’s brother- in-law Barry (not a Reunion member), Don Rafferty, Derek Whelan, Chris Clegg, Mike Payne, Alan Gardner, and Brian Fiala.

Reunion Member Wins North Florida PGA Junior Championship Timothy Colanta, a young Reunion Member, recently won the North Florida PGA Junior Championship held at Reunion on June 24 and 25 on the Watson course. He shot a 133 (69-64) over the two days, and had an impressive eight under par round of 64 on the second day to win by one! In an exciting finish, Timothy had a putt to win on the last hole and made it to go on to win the tournament. Please congratulate Timothy if you see him at the Club!

This doesn’t happen just because someone is good or bad at tennis, but merely based on personalities.

if you can’t stand talking to your partner, then the road ahead of you will be a long and bumpy ride.

The game of tennis is a fun one as long as you are playing doubles with someone that complements your style of play and that you get along with. This can be a challenge in and of itself to find though.

No matter how you team up, no matter how you do, the one thing that you have to make certain is that you are always having fun.

Don’t get me wrong. If you are able to win with like styles, then more power to you, but from my experience, the most successful teams are ones that complement each other (much like a marriage).

gath erings | 27

The first thing that you should look for in a partner is someone that you like to talk with. Just like a marriage,

The second thing to keep your eyes open for is for someone with a contrasting style of game. The reason for this is to keep the team dynamic level. If you have two players that both are very aggressive, then you will be most likely beating yourself in the games. On the opposite side, if you have two players that have super steady ground-strokes, then you will most likely not be able to put balls away.

Dress Code Reminder We would like to remind Members of the dress code at Reunion. From Reunion’s Rules and Regulations: General Attire: It is expected that Members will choose to dress in a fashion befitting the surroundings and atmosphere provided in the setting of the Club. It is also expected that Members will advise their guests of the dress requirements. The Club may publish dress requirements from time to time. Gentlemen and ladies are requested to dress in a fashion compatible with the appropriate occasion. Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times when on Club Facilities. Bathing suits may only be worn in the pool areas. All other Club Facilities require appropriate cover-ups.

Golf Attire: Proper golf attire is required for all players. Proper attire shall mean the following: • Men: Shirts with collars or mock turtle neck style with sleeves and slacks or Bermuda shorts of mid-thigh length are considered appropriate attire. Tank tops, tee shirts, mesh shirts, sweat pants, warm-up suits, blue jeans, swim wear, short shorts, cut-offs, gym shorts, tennis outfits or other athletic shorts are not permitted. • Women: Dresses, skirts, slacks, mid-length shorts and blouses are considered appropriate attire. Halter tops, tee shirts, cut-offs, sweat pants, warm-up suits, blue jeans, swim wear, tennis dresses, short shorts, or other athletic shorts are not permitted. • Golf Shoes: Shoes with metal spikes are not allowed at the Club. Shoes with “soft spikes” or spikeless shoes must be worn by all golfers.

gath erings | 28

This dress code is mandatory for all players, as well as anyone who accompanies you on the golf courses, even if they are only observing. Improperly dressed golfers shall be asked to change before playing. If you are in doubt concerning attire, please check with the golf shop before starting play. In addition, please remember that the driving ranges are considered part of the golf courses. Therefore, all golf course attire guidelines above apply for those using the range as well as those observing golfers. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
