We will be breaking ground for the much anticipated Nicklaus Clubhouse in the first quarter. Please look for these enhancements and many more around the Club in the coming weeks and months.

And let’s not forget some of the memorable Member Events from 2015 that Bev and her team spearheaded (with some great suggestions from the TRE Committee!), including a trip to King’s Bowl, Dancing with the Pros at Lakeland Civic Center, Jellyrolls at Disney’s Boardwalk, Braves Spring Training Game, Lunch and Learn, Beauty and the Beast at the Dr. Phillips Center, Trivia Night, ICE Bar at Pointe Orlando, Member Movie Nights at Cinepolis, Member Pool Party at the Cove, canoeing and kayaking at Wekiva Island, Victory Casino Cruise, several parties with a DJ and dancing, along with the standard monthly activities like the Member/Manager Reception and game nights. Finally, the 2015 MemberGuest Tournament evening functions were the best yet - what can top the Saturday Night Live event that closed out this year’s festivities? As hard as the team at Reunion has worked on improvements this year, rest assured we will continue to work to bring both the facilities and the Member experience to an even higher level in 2016. Hope to see you at the Club this holiday season.
Sincerely,
CARLTON W. GRANT, CHA Managing Director, Reunion Resort & Club

The Split Step Last month we covered the serve and volley which consisted of a couple of different parts; first the serve, the movement forward (with a split step), the volley, and then the recovery. This month we will cover a very small but big part of the serve and volley, the split step. The split step deals entirely with your footwork. It not only neutralizes your body so that you can move in any direction, but more importantly it gets you on balance so your volley will have better pop off of the strings.
apart and having your knees slightly bent when you land. The actual movement of the split step isn’t the difficult part but more so the timing of it. The timing of the actual step is critical; if you are early then you will be waiting too long for the ball to come back to your side, but if you are too late then you will be in the air still when the ball is being struck by your opponent. The easiest way to time the step is to wait for your opponent’s eyes to go down on the ball. This means they haven’t hit the ball yet but are in the process of doing so. Once the ball is struck, you are able to almost spring in that direction giving you the best possibility of making the volley.
The easiest way to describe the spilt step is a hopscotch jump with both feet being shoulder width
