A community with multiple dining options, lots of friends, and activities too numerous to list. And without the maintenance of your current home so you are free to fly away! We invite you to visit and ask Royal Oaks residents why they live here. If you’d like, we’ll arrange a lunch or dinner after the tour with some residents who, like you, didn’t believe that life could be so easy at Royal Oaks. We’ll help you narrow down your choices between our 23 floor plans (homes and apartments in independent living) on our 50+ acre campus and also show you the social, dining, activity, and care spaces.

And the list of exotic locals our residents are exploring. When you visit, ask about Club Connect, where you can experience life at our community prior to residency. But first, find out the benefits of lifeplan communities by downloading many informational pieces on our website (click on the “free download” button on the home page). Call (623) 815-4132 to arrange your personal visit. Ask how to attend an informational seminar on Inspirata Pointe, our new in-development neighborhood.

FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

Kenneth Olson, CMCA, AMS General Manager

NEW HERE? WE WANT TO GET TO KNOW YOU If you’re new to life in a community association, your first impression of it may be the list of rules you’re asked to follow and the vast number of amenity and activity choices that exist. You have moved in and spent months getting things organized and the new home decorated. Now what? You don’t know anyone and haven’t gotten involved in any activities. The toughest part of the transition is not having those friends, family and familiar activities as part of your new daily life.

Here are a few easy steps to happy HOA living in Sun City Grand:

1. Start with the basics.

A homeowners association (or HOA) comprises you and your fellow homeowners. You became a member of the association when you bought your home. Your membership entitles you to a voice in how your community is run and managed – mostly through voting rights. At the helm of your association is the Board of Directors, which are volunteers who have been elected to their positions by owners like you. Their job is to make sure the rules are followed, collect assessments and make sure that the community is well taken care of. The Community Association Management (CAM) team, led by the General Manager, runs the daily operations and executes the policy decisions made by the Board of Directors.

2. Know the rules.

Rather than finding them restrictive, most residents discover that community rules are the bedrock of a happy neighborhood. Make sure you understand the rules

before you buy – you can find them in the Governing Documents, which includes the Articles of Incorporation, Declaration, Bylaws and more. You’ll also want to take a look at the Covenants, Conditions & Restrictions, also known as the CC&Rs. These documents make plain the community’s policies on architecture and design, association rules, usage of resident amenities, fee schedules and a host of other matters.

3. Use your power to change.

Community members have rights through their voice and their vote. But if you want to make a greater impact, consider volunteering to run for the Board. If a spot on the Board doesn’t seem like it fits within your lifestyle, you can always volunteer for a special committee or project. Attend community meetings regularly to find out how you can get involved – it’s the best way to make it truly feel like your community.

4. Keep it neighborly.

You and your neighbor may not have a lot in common. But you do share one important thing: a responsibility to maintain the lifestyle of Sun City Grand. So keep

this common ground in mind when you have issues with those who live around you. For starters, try resolving minor issues yourself before getting the Association involved. Noise violations or those pesky tree branches that hang over the fence into your yard are genuine annoyances, but solving them through a neighborly chat will go further in maintaining harmony than escalating it to your Board. Remember, the Board is always there for you, but handling things neighbor-to-neighbor first is always the best policy. In our fast-paced, stress-filled world we often don’t create the opportunities that we need in order to get to know our neighbors. In days past, good neighbor relations were the staple of every strong community. Being able to share life's experiences, both good and bad, with those who live so close to us was once considered one of life’s greatest blessings. We must reach out to our neighbors and let them know that they matter and that we care. If we do that, even in the most seemingly insignificant of ways – like a wave as we pass on the street – then we are moving toward a better community and a better way to live.

CONVERSATION WITH KEN The Conversation with Ken session provides a good opportunity for homeowners to bring questions to the General Manager and engage in discussion in a casual format. The next Conversation with Ken is September 18, at 6 p.m. in the Palm Center. 8

FROM THE DIRECTOR OF GOLF OPERATIONS

WHY ARE YOU CHANGING OUT THE GRASS WHEN THE COURSES LOOK SO GOOD? It is hard to believe that the fall overseeding practice is just around the corner (October). “What does this mean and why do we do it?” is often a question that we get asked.

Jeff Hochman Director of Golf Operations

The base grass on all 4 of the golf courses here at Sun City Grand is bermuda. Bermuda grass thrives in the hotter more humid months but not as well in the cooler months. Because of this, the courses put down over 225,000 pounds of grass seed. This brings the darker green color/aesthetics back while the bermuda grass becomes dormant and golden brown in color. As in previous years, staff may alter our overseeding closure dates to allow a better chance to have better weather during the 10

overseeding process which will in turn give better playing conditions for our golfers. The tentative schedule is posted on www. grandinfo.com under the Grand Golf/Calendars tab. The schedule is subject to change based on the current weather forecasts. As in years past, the golf courses will be cart path only for about 3 weeks after they open back up from overseeding. The purpose for this is to allow the young rye grass to get an opportunity to become more rigorous to be able to handle the upcoming cart traffic, play and divots.

as you can, this will keep our courses in great shape for the golfers behind you. Another question staff gets is, “Why do we not put seed in the divot sand?” About 12 years ago, staff conducted a test with seed in the mixture and without seed. We made some several divots similar in length, width and depth. We applied both of the mixtures to the divots. We found that the divots both filled in

within the same time frame. The seed needs to maintain moisture in order for it to germinate and since it does not get constant water, it takes longer. We found that the healthy rye grass tillers out just as fast and fills in the divots. Also, by not using seed in the mixture kept rye grass from germinating in the non-overseeded areas. The staff here at Grand Golf is very excited about this upcoming season.

Everyone can help keep the courses in great shape by filling their divots with sand, repairing their ball marks on the greens and driving on the cart paths as much as possible. On a shotgun day, if you can take a few minutes on your last hole of play and fill as many divots Grand Lifestyles | September 2019 | suncitygrand.com

His audiences include jazz enthusiasts, as well as a younger crowd compelled by his downhome insouciance, and the knowing irreverence of a tried-and-true American nightclub entertainer. “Although they are my idols, I don’t attempt to imitate the great pop and jazz artists of the 50’s and 60’s,” the singer says. He will provide a show you sure do not want to miss!

FROM THE FITNESS MANAGER

ALL ABOUT YOGA

Allison Adams Fitness Manager

Yoga can be traced back over 5000 years, originated in Eastern cultures. The word yoga is translated as “union”, a drawing together of heart, mind and body. There are many documented medical benefits of yoga including: n increased muscle strength and tone n increased flexibility and joint health n increased strength and stamina n increased balance and stability n improved respiration, energy and vitality n relief of stress and anxiety n maintains a balanced metabolism n weight reduction n cardio and circulatory health n lowered blood pressure n improved athletic performance n protection from injury

Flexibility and stability are both improved with yoga. Flexibility increases as we engage in stretching. Stability requires strength and allows us to safely hold yoga poses longer. Both increase with a regular yoga practice. By engaging muscles first, you enable safe stretching. Holding yoga poses longer increases the length of the muscles. Use “Mindful Stretching” as to not overstretch and cause a reflex that senses you are stretching the muscle past the normal length. Using the breath to move slowly into each pose will allow the muscles to slowly increase past the preset “normal” length. One category of yoga we practice is called Hatha, translated “sun” (ha) and “moon” (tha). Hatha Yoga focuses mainly on the physical poses moving in accordance with the breath. Breath leads...you follow. Deeper inhalations and exhalations will allow you to be less rigid and find fluidity in your poses. Keeping your breath smooth and steady, attempting to make the duration of the inhalation and exhalation the same. As you can see, there is much to be gained from incorporating a regular yoga practice. Hatha Yoga resumes again on Wednesdays from 12:15–1:45 at Cimarron September 11th. The extended class time enables us to complete a deeper, full practice including breath work and an extended relaxation pose to end the practice. “We don’t stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing.” George Bernard Shaw See you on the mat! Claudia Schroeder Certified Yoga Instructor

GET TO KNOW YOUR FITNESS INSTRUCTORS JACEK (JACK) KOWALCZYK Jacek (Jack) was born in Poland and came to the United States in 1985, settled in New Jersey, where he married in 1987. He and his wife have two daughters, Nicole and Olivia. He loves hiking, swimming, traveling, and enjoys doing handyman work after his aquatics shifts. Jacek has worked for Sun City Grand since 2017. He appreciates working in the Aquatics department, not only because it allows him the flexibility to pursue additional interests, but he works with a wonderful supervisor (Mark Dipper) who is very knowledgeable, understanding and pleasant.

ESTHER KNIPPER I have lived in Sun City Grand since 2002. I previously lived in Phoenix since 1979, moving there from Oak Forest, IL. I worked for American Express as an On-the-Job Trainer and also as a fraud analyst, retiring in 2000. I have a son, daughter, son-in-law and 3 granddaughters who live in Surprise. I have enjoyed membership in many of the social clubs in Grand and have made many good friends here. I enjoy being a monitor because I get to visit with and meet many of our residents, old and new acquaintances. Keeping my mental and physical abilities is important to me, and monitoring contributes to both.

us now, r a e h ’t n a c u If yo we’ll yell a lit tle louder. Most of us can remember this diddy from the 50’s and when it comes to Sun City Grand, we can sing it today. We are number one in Arizona Active Adult Communities and it’s because of YOU! YOU are the ones who get involved, who volunteer to serve on the HOA Board, on a standing committee, the Welcome Center Help Desk, as a club officer or member, a Neighborhood Rep, as a good community resident who keeps an eye open ready to do a random act of kindness for a neighbor. YOU attend community meetings, or watch the videos. YOU stay informed through daily e-blasts, Grand Lifestyles, bulletins posted about SCG. YOU enjoy your life, appreciate SCG, and understand that volunteering isn’t just for the other guy or gal. SCG wants YOU. We want your active engagement, your expertise, your ideas and accumulated wisdom. You didn’t get to be decades old without acquiring valuable experiences which you can share with others. YOU can be involved for a few hours, weekly, monthly, as needed, or for a longerterm commitment. Can’t think of how you can step in or step up? Stop by the Welcome Desk in the Palm Center to learn more about Community Involvement and get started singing...we’re number one……….

On May 21, eight residents from Sun City Grand went on the four day Activities tour from Sun City Grand to visit Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. On our way home, we took a “detour” through Kaibab Forest, Lee’s Ferry and Marble Canyon. While the rest of the U.S. was having tornados, we experienced a white-out at Bryce and below zero temps—but we came prepared.

book of AZ data. Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon are two totally different formations and are beyond description, you have to see it for yourself. Sun City Grand offers many trips, check with the Activities Office and in your Grand Lifestyle to see what they offer Zion National Park monthly.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Our outstanding itinerary afforded us many stops to enjoy breathtaking scenery, shopping, unique dining establishments and rest stops. Our accommodations at the Holiday Inn in Kanab, UT were wonderful, and we had enough free time to explore and also bond during our Happy Hours each night. We were so impressed by the knowledge of the tour guide — being a fourth generation Arizonan — he had lots of anecdotes and folklore to share—a real

We are looking for SCG men and women volunteers to help with Vacation Watch and Evening Patrol. We will supply vehicles and training. Call Monica Rodriguez (CAM) 623-546-7468 or the C.H.A.P.S. office 623-546-7553 and leave a message if you are interested in joining us!

MY WIFE IS A LITTLE SLOW . . . AND I AM GRATEFUL TO HER My wife, yes, I’ll name her, Irene, is a little slow. Not mentally, of course, but behind the wheel of our 2014 Accord, especially when she is driving the streets throughout Sun City Grand. I think she is really reading—and obeying— those black and white street signs:

Sunrise, Clearview, Mountain View, Goldwater Ridge

All residential streets

I don’t know why those other drivers in Sun City Grand are driving so fast to pass us. We almost always meet them at the next stop sign or at the traffic light at the Bell Road or Grand Avenue exits. I can never figure out what their big hurry is. Is there a pregnant woman in the back seat of their car ready to give birth?

There is an old saying that “accidents happen”, but most vehicle accidents involve human error or bad choices drivers make. Driving over the speed limit, texting, talking, and surfing the web while driving is dangerous. That’s why car manufacturers have been working hard on high-tech features to make our cars safer by adding blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping collision alerts, and driver’s drowsiness alerts. Cars are safer than ever, but the number of fatalities keeps rising. That’s why I am grateful that Irene is,

well, a little slow behind the wheel. A good lesson for all of us. Slow down while driving in SCG—and outside of our community as well. Obey speed limits and traffic signs. Observe safe driving practices. Watch out for slower moving golf carts, CAM club car work vehicles, and Gothic work trucks stopped in the roadway performing landscaping maintenance. Beware of pedestrians in designated crosswalks, and come to a full stop for them. Sign up for the Grand Learning AARP Smart Drivers class to be held in October and again in December. These are low-tech personal driving habits that can keep you and your fellow SCG homeowners safe on our community streets. Please . . . drive with care. Will you be attending our next CHAPS membership meeting? We will meet Tuesday, September 24 at 1:30 P.M. in the Sonoran Plaza. We shall greet you there.

Baja California is a Mexican state on the Baja California Peninsula, bordering the U.S. state of California. Pristine and undeveloped, the landscape spans mountains and beaches on the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of California. It is a region of uninhabited islands, the confluence of sea, mountains and desert. The heart-stopping, up-close experience of meeting gray whales, followed by this region’s award winning wine trail makes for a small-group tour of a lifetime! THE ARCHES & CANYONLANDS NATIONAL PARKS & SMOOTH WATER RAFTING Day One: We’ll leave the Valley and head north, with a stop for coffee & goodies, on our way to enjoy lunch on self at Cameron Trading Post. After lunch its back on the bus headed for Bluff, Utah and the very lovely Desert Rose Hotel—our headquarters for the next three nights. We’ll check into our hotel, and after a refresh we’ll gather again to enjoy dinner on self, with your choice of dining in the hotel’s award-winning restaurant, or head into historic Bluff where we’ll have a few rustic eateries to choose from. Later we’ll enjoy a free evening. Day Two: Breakfast on self at a local restaurant, then its back on the bus headed for the Sand Island launch ramp. After taking a few minutes to secure our cameras and sunscreen in dry bags, and a brief introduction to rafting, we’ll begin this remarkable 8 hour, 26-mile journey. The San Juan River, often described as calm and congenial, offers a relaxing rafting experience in Southeastern Utah. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore the dramatic Goosenecks of the Lower San Juan, where rock formations can tower 1,000 feet overhead. We’ll visit Native American ruins; view bighorn sheep grazing along the shore and truly experience a red rock labyrinth that is one of the most complex canyons in the Colorado Plateau. This was once the home of the Anasazi, a desert farming culture who lived in this area eight to twenty centuries ago. Evidence of their time here is everywhere, with remains of their dwellings and the art that they carved in the rising sandstone walls. The Butler Wash petroglyph panel will be our first stop. Just a few feet from the river’s edge, this broad panel is filled with mysterious images carved by early Anasazi—the Basketmakers—some 1500 years ago. Further down the river, we’ll land again and walk an easy quarter mile to “River House,” a Pueblo III style cliff dwelling. With a small round kiva and several adjoining rooms tucked into a rock alcove, this structure is believed to be about 800 years old. Later we’ll continue down the river to a shady spot under a canopy of cottonwoods, to enjoy a delicious gourmet lunch. The journey continues, as the rock formations begin 57

TICKETED EVENTS Tickets available online at www.suncitygrand.com or at the Activities desk unless noted otherwise. to take prominence when the river enters the Monument Upwarp, a giant wrinkle in the skin of the earth. As we near the end of our trip the river leaves the canyon and we pass beneath the balanced slab of “Mexican Hat” rock, where vans will be waiting to shuttle us back to Bluff. Dinner is on self this evening and later we’ll enjoy a free evening. Day Three: We’ll enjoy breakfast on self in town, before hopping back on the bus headed for Canyonlands National Park, located just west of Moab, Utah. With paved roads running through the park, Canyonlands offers the most spectacular scenic drive—wave after wave of famously deep canyons that drop suddenly from the desert floor and wind along the Colorado Plateau, accompanied by towering cliffs and sandstone spires. Later we’ll head into charming Moab, for lunch on self, with several wonderful restaurants to choose from. After lunch it’s back on the bus for the half-hour drive to Arches National Park, where we’ll journey the 18-mile (one way) scenic drive high onto the Plateau, crossing a vast landscape, offering panoramic views of distant snowcapped mountains. Arches is one of the most visited parks in the world, a wonderland of eroded sandstone fins, towers, ribs, gargoyles, hoodoos, balanced rocks and arches! Later we’ll head back to our hotel to enjoy dinner on self and a free evening. Day Four: Breakfast is on self, then it’s bags out and we’re off to enjoy an incredibly scenic drive through the Hopi and Navajo Nations, on into Winslow and the La Posada Hotel--the last great railroad hotel—built in 1929 by the Santa Fe Railway for the Fred Harvey Company. We’ll take some time to explore the La Posada and enjoy lunch on self, at the awardwinning Turquoise Room, considered to be the best restaurant in the Four Corners region. After lunch it’s back on the bus and we’ll hightail it for the Valley, enjoying some great scenery along the way. This is a remarkable tour—truly a bucket-list of an experience and we hope you’ll join us! *This trip is offered in conjunction with Kindred Tours. After lunch we’ll head north on Highway 180, better known as the San Francisco Peaks Scenic Road, one of Arizona’s most beautiful scenic byways. With Arizona’s highest mountains dominating the landscape, we’ll journey through rolling meadows, as clusters of golden aspens become more and more dense. We’ll take the turnoff to Hart Prairie Road—unpaved, bumpy in spots, and incredibly scenic! LUNCH AT THE ASYLUM We’re on our way to Jerome, Arizona and the Grand Hotel. Famously spooky—the Grand Hotel was originally constructed in 1926 and started out as the United Verde Hospital, the most modern and well-equipped hospital in all of the western states. The hospital closed in 1950 as mining petered out, and then stood vacant for 44 years until the building was purchased, then renovated and reopened as the Grand Hotel. This is when the accounts of paranormal activities at the hotel began to be conveyed to the staff. Guests at the hotel have reported hearing coughing, labored breathing, and even voices coming from empty rooms. They have also reported smells coming from rooms, such as flowers, dust, cigar smoke, and whiskey. Others report light anomalies and the television sets turning themselves on with no explanation, and still others have reported seeing apparitions of women in nurse’s uniforms! Jerome is said to be one of the 10 most haunted cities in America, with the Grand Hotel being their most famously haunted building. Halloween at the Grand Hotel is just incredible, with spooky holiday décor streaming from end to end! We’ll enjoy a delicious lunch, included, at the awardwinning Asylum Restaurant—where the menu offers everything from gourmet salads to big delicious sandwiches and burgers, homemade soup and more. We’ll take some time after lunch to explore the hotel and then head into the charming and historic downtown area. Jerome is home to many wonderful galleries, great little shops, wine tasting rooms and so much more. *This trip is offered in conjunction with Kindred Tours. This 3.14-acre facility offers the most remarkable tour, with 7,200,000 cubic feet under sealed glass; housing biomes that include: ocean with coral reef, mangrove wetlands, tropical rainforest, Savanna grassland, and fog desert. TUBAC FALL ARTS & CRAFTS FESTIVAL After 59 years of producing a wildly successful arts festival in February, Tubac has added this fantastic juried arts & crafts show just in time for holiday shopping. Not that we need a festival to head to charming and historically rich Tubac, Arizona! Established in 1752 as a Spanish presidio, Tubac was the first Spanish garrison in what is now the state of Arizona. Tubac was a stop along the Camino Real (the “Royal Road”) from Mexico to the Spanish settlements in California. Tubac’s most famous resident was Juan Bautista de Anza, the first European to establish an overland route from Mexico, through the Sonoran Desert, to the Pacific Coast of California. After a fascinating struggle to exist that includes a military pullout and the railroad moving to Tucson—Tubac today is a thriving artists community with more than 80 galleries and shops that feature hand crafted items, sculpture, Grand Lifestyles | September 2019 | suncitygrand.com

Neighborhood Grant Program

Council Member, District 2

The Surprise City Council approved funding to support the Neighborhood Grant Program that provides eligible neighborhoods with small grants to fund neighborhood events, functions, or community improvements.

The first day of fall is September 23 and although temperatures may not agree, summer is nearing its end. When we think of fall, we begin to imagine pumpkin spice and earlier sunsets. September is the beginning of these feelings but let’s not forget that the month starts off with Labor Day. Labor Day is the first Monday in September and is celebrated to acknowledge the contributions and achievements of the American worker. On September 5, 1882, there were 10,000 New York City workers took unpaid time off to march from City Hall to Union Square. This would become known as the first Labor Day Parade and the first working man’s holiday. It took over 12 years for Congress to pass an act to make the first Monday in September a legal holiday in the District of Colombia and its territories. Today, Labor Day is celebrated across the United States with parades, barbeques, fireworks, and other public gatherings to honor the working men and women. Surprise City Hall offices will be closed on Monday, September 2 in honor of Labor Day. Offices will resume normal business hours the following day. Patriot Day is observed on September 11 to remember and pay tribute to the thousands of people killed and the numerous injured during the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001. At the direction

Recognizing an opportunity to encourage community engagement and further build strong relationships with communities in Surprise, the city designated $10,000 to support the grant program for FY20. Please visit www.surpriseaz.gov/3406 for more information as well as the online application.

City Events On September 14, the City, in conjunction with the Northwest Regional Landfill, is hosting a residential clean up event from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Residents are able to dispose of a single load of residential waste that weighs no more than 2,000 pounds for free. Proof of residency is required so please don’t forget your driver’s license and utility bill. The Northwest Regional Landfill is located at 19401 W. Deer Valley Road.

of developing and building their new housing facility. This development will house players and team staff year round. The scheduled completion is this winter, just in time for Spring Training 2020.

Friendly Reminders Sun City Grand residents are urged to obey traffic laws and restrictions. Please be mindful of your surroundings to help ensure a safe neighborhood! ASK CAPPIE THE COMPUTER CAT

TIPS TO PREVENT HACKING My email got hacked so I changed my password and it seems to be working just fine. My neighbor said that isn’t enough. Is he right? What more can I do? SCG Resident

Dear SCG Resident, Yes, your neighbor is correct. In decades past, changing your password generally would have done the job but today that is not nearly enough because the hacker could have set up your account to allow him to get back in or keep spamming, even after you have changed your password and locked him out. 1. Cappie suggests that even before attempting to change your password, you should immediately run a full (not a quick) scan using your anti-malware software to make sure the hacker has not installed malicious software (like a keylogger program which can remotely track your account numbers, passwords, PIN numbers, and other confidential information). Some excellent choices to detect or stop such programs are: Malwarebytes (free or paid version), Bitdefender Total Security (free or paid version), Webroot, AVG Antivirus (free), Spybot Search and Destroy, Avast, etc. 2. Once your computer is scanned and cleaned, don’t just change your email password but also the security questions connected with your email account. In addition, change the passwords of any accounts that share the same password as your hacked email account and those that are variations of that password. 3. Next, change the passwords for any sites that store your credit card information, (Netflix, Zulu, Amazon, etc.) and credit card company websites (also change those security questions as well). Another smart practice is to never give real answers to such questions as “what is your mother’s maiden name.” If the hacker changed your password and locked you out of your account, you will need to contact the email provider, usually by clicking the “forgot your password” link and answering the appropriate security questions or using your backup email address to regain access. Each email provider has its own method to recover an account. Click on the email website’s “help” link to find the steps for your specific email app. 66

1. Once you reclaimed your account, review your mail forwarding settings to ensure no unknown email addresses have been added. Hackers sometimes change your settings and forward to themselves a copy of every email you receive so that they can watch for any emails that contain login information for other sites and other sensitive material. 2. If you use a signature at the end of your emails, check your email signature to make sure no malicious code disguised as your signature was added that could forward the hacker information even after he has been locked out. 3. Check your “reply to” email address to make sure it has not been altered. Make sure the hacker has not set your “out-ofoffice” option to “on” (auto responder), because it could be programmed to send spam from your email. If your email has two-factor authentication, enable it, so that in addition to your password, whenever you log into your email you’ll also need to enter a special one-time user code the site will text to your phone or generate via an app. It is a good idea to use this two-factor authentication for all sites that have it. You can go to https:// twofactorauth.org/ to see all the sites and email programs that currently use it. Cappie cannot continue to reiterate that you use a strong password. It is your best protection from this type of hacking and use a different password for each site or account. Using a unique password for your email account, your bank account and any other sensitive accounts is a must. If you have difficulty keeping track of your passwords, or want to make sure your password is strong, use a password manager program like Last Pass, Keeper, Dashlane, Blur, Sticky Password, 1Password, True Key, etc. Check reviews from your favorite tech websites to see which program might be right for you. If you might have stored old emails with password information in your saved email folders, do a search for the word “password” in your mailbox search box to see if other accounts might have been

compromised. If the emails contained passwords from bank or credit card accounts, check your statements to make sure there are no suspicious transactions and change the passwords immediately. Finally, be careful what personal information you post on social media sites and don’t click on unknown links or ads on those sites. Stay away from using public computers in stores, airports, hotel lobbies, libraries and other public places to check your email or do banking or buying. These places are perfect locations for hackers to install key-logging programs because most lack sufficient security and updated computers. When in public areas, just assume that any public computer can be compromised. We have already discussed in a previous article to also be diligent using public wi-fi and using VPNs. Use good common sense and follow the guidelines mentioned above when dealing with sensitive personal data and information.
