Message from Our Senior Servant-Pastor

To God be the Glory!

This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Truly the Lod has blessed Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church to be stable of ’s lobe in theAugusta Georgia community for now 100 years. All honor and glory belongs to God as we celebrate our centennial in present reflection and memorial of all those faithful saints who worked so hard, but are now at rest in the Lord.

It is our prayer that as you peruse this church anniversary booklet, it will be an encouragement to you. Whether you placed an on-line, quarter, a half-page or a full-page ad, we are grateful that you took the time to share with our faith family on this glorious celebration.

As we reflect today on our rich legacy, we recall the many miraculous momemts of healing, deliverance, service and commitment to the Word of God. We also look to the future with passionate purpose and the promised grace of our God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

Last, but certainly not least, a very special thank you to theAnniversary Committee, whose tireless commitment to this Centennial celebration has made it a very special time of family, friends and faith fellowship from near and far.

Beloved, let us all use this observance as a catalyst to refuel our zest for the Lord’s work, to renew our commitment to the Lortd’s Church, and to revive our hunger for the Word of God.

Precious Memories

IN LOVING REMEMBRANCE OF

her children on a farm in Sardis, GA. Even though they had everything they needed such as crops, cows, chickens, ducks, etc., she wanted her children to go to school and get an education. The children worked harder on the farm than they did getting their education. As a praying mother, she uprooted her youngest five children (Roy, Eugene, Floria, Harvey and Bennie) and planted new roots in Augusta, GA on Highway 56. Because of her faith in God and being a willing worker for Christ, she just couldn’t sit at home to praise the Lord. She joined Green Grove Missionary Baptist Churcher where her oldest brother, Hilton Cooper and her youngest brother, Bennie (Precious) Cooper were members.

After joining Green Grove under the leadership of Reverend George Wingfield in 1958, Eula B. Parris and her children became servants for Christ in that part of the vineyard and were blessed in so many ways. Eula sang in the Senior Choir and became the church Mission Ministry president, serving diligently for over 20 years. Her son, Reverend Roy L. Parris, Sr. was ordained as a minister. Her other children served on the Usher Board and other auxiliaries of the church. As of today, her daughter, Eula Lee Martin, is one of the oldest members, Reverend Roy L. Parris, Sr. is the oldest Son of the House, granddaughter Sylvia Allen has served in several auxiliaries and committees including the Sunday School and church administration for years, and another of “Muh’ s” granddaughters, Frances Sapp Hester, serves as a Deaconess.
