Grapevine Community Awards Banquet A Great Kick-Off to 2014
One of my favorite events of the year is the Grapevine Chamber’s Annual Community Awards Banquet. I just wanted to take a moment and
congratulate the 2013 nominees and recipients. The Awards Banquet Committee did an extraordinary job this year with our “Jeans to Jewels” theme hosted by Austin Ranch at the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center. If you weren’t able to attend, you were missed! The Chamber’s Monthly Membership Luncheon

AMP’T Series Continues February 24!
The next session of AMP’T – Advancing Modern Professionals for Tomorrow – will be February 24, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Winewood in Grapevine. Advanced registration is required due to limited seating. The guest speaker will be Grapevine City Councilman and recent Ted Willhoite Legacy Award Winner, C. Shane Wilbanks. He will be sharing from his extensive experience in the human resources industry prior to his time serving on the Grapevine City Council. AMP’T is designed for Chamber members age 21-39 seeking to advance their career by learning from senior executives. More than just a meet and greet, attendees will receive applicable advice from a senior executive willing to share their experience and answer questions. If you have someone in your business or organization who falls in this age range, the Chamber encourages you to send them to receive real-world advice to enhance their career.
Win Money for Attending the Luncheon! Those in attendance for the January luncheon saw the “Must Be Present to Win” drawing continue its climb. With Janie Faulkner of Bearings North not in attendance, the drawing gained another $50 and now sits at $1450. Each month at the luncheon, the drawing will grow as long as the person whose name is called is not in attendance. All you have to do is show up! How easy is that? All Chamber members’ names are in the drawing, sponsored by the First Financial Bank, NA. Cash in on your membership investment by attending the monthly luncheon for your chance to win!
Ribbon Cutting
At each AMP’T session, the senior executive will discuss: • Their career path • What they look for in the younger generation when hiring/promoting • Ways to advance a career There will also be time for Q&A at the end of the session. The event is free to attend. The only cost is your lunch. Please register by calling the Chamber at (817) 481-1522 or visiting the Events Page of the Chamber website. Questions? Hello Chamber Members: I am so excited to be the 2014 Chair of the Women’s Division of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce! I have to laugh at how long that title is! With that long title comes a big responsibility and big shoes to fill - those of BJ Wilson, our 2013 Chair. Not literally of course (She has tiny feet and wears a size 6). That’s how well we get to know each other in Women’s Division... we know each other’s shoe size! When you work alongside women to serve and meet the needs of our community, you learn lots about each other! For those of you that don’t know much about the Women’s Division, we were created in 1965 to help serve the Grapevine Chamber in many different ways - putting the Member Directory together, raising money for things the Chamber needed - like a typewriter (Yes that’s right folks, a typewriter!). Since then, we have been called to start and develop many different service projects throughout our community - for lack of space I will continue to tell you about some of those things in my next article. One thing I can tell you about our group is that we are passionate about helping make Grapevine the best place in the world to work and live! We are also a group of women that can definitely get things done! Where there’s a will, there’s a way. We are going to have a ton of fun this year, both in our fundraising efforts and in our giving! Our two main projects are school supplies for under-privileged GCISD students and Christmas Gifts for local senior citizens. We partner with CONNECT and GRACE on these projects and basically are the hands and feet that make these programs work. If you are interested in joining the ranks of the Women’s Division, I want to invite you to our Membership Social and luncheon on Tuesday, February 18. This month the luncheon will be held at the beautiful Grand Hall at the Grapevine CVB Headquarters (right across from the Train Depot). This meeting is focused on recruiting new members and making sure our current members know about all of the ways to help make this organization what it is. I really would love for you to join us and find out more! We will begin lunch at 11:30 a.m., and space will be limited. So please RSVP on the Chamber website! Another date to remember is Thursday, April 3. This is when the Great Taste of Grapevine will take place, in the atrium of the Embassy Suites! At this event, you can try 25-30 of the best restaurant food available in Grapevine - all in one place! We will be sending out more details as we get closer! If you would like to sponsor this event, and get some fantastic recognition for your business in front of a large audience of community members, please contact Toni Barron with Community Impact News. Her email is tbarron@impactnews.com. She would be thrilled to explain all of the different sponsorship levels and make suggestions on what fits your business best! I really look forward to getting to know you as I lead the Women’s Division through what I hope is a successful year of giving and fun! If you have any questions or want to chat, give me a call at the Box Insurance office (817)-865-1801. My email is casey@ boxinsurance.com.
