Advocating for Businesses in Austin

At our recent Chamber Membership Luncheon, Glenn Hammer, President & CEO, Texas Association of Business, spoke on several topics regarding TAB’s focus for 2023. Some of these topics included their focus on workforce development, education and healthcare to name a few

TAB’s work in Austin with the governor ’ s office and state legislators are vital to small businesses across the state of Texas Glenn’s message for the afternoon was to inspire those in attendance to know the vital work that is done by every chamber throughout Texas & speak out!

TAB’s support with reskilling and upskilling initiatives to ensure that businesses can meet Texas hiring needs is vital to business growth in our communities TAB is committed to education on the K-12 level by supporting policies like paid apprenticeship opportunities and internships, increased access to K-12 computer science teach training and student instruction. Helping to remove barriers for veterans and second chance hiring for those that are re-entering the workforce is another key initiative.

On the healthcare front, TAB is leading efforts to make sure that employers are protected from legislation that increases health care costs, like mandated benefits With Texas being the #1 energy provider in the US, TAB will continue their efforts to build both economical and sustainable policies that allow businesses to thrive in a free enterprise market

Our chamber supports many of these actions as we know that a strong Texas Association of Business is good for our business community Likewise, a strong chamber is good for every local community Your chamber, continues to be a voice for you locally and on the state level with partnerships like TAB

We need each of you and other businesses like you to continue your support of the chamber so that we collectively can move the needle forward for many generations to come.

Believe, Achieve and Receive!

Economic Development City of Grapevine

The next decade here in Grapevine is going to be incredible I know it’s difficult to imagine our City getting any better than it is today, but our job in the Economic Development Department is to do just that. There’s no shortage of great companies here now, from wonderful dining options to oneof-a-kind attractions and a growing number of world-class companies who choose Grapevine to be the location of their headquarters. But I believe they’re just the leading edge of a much greater trend

Fifty years ago, this was a town of roughly 7,000 people Now, we ’ re the heart of a Metroplex that 6 5 million Texans call home; a centerpiece of destination entertainment in North Texas, with visitor numbers and a companion podcast (‘Growing Grapevine,’ available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and just about anywhere you listen) to prove it New additions to our City – from Chama Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse and Chicken N Pickle in South Grapevine to the highlyanticipated arrival of Meow Wolf this Summer – prove that Grapevine remains fertile ground for innovators We’re even seeing a flourishing new restaurant cluster emerge from the old Payton-Wright Ford dealership, with developers excited to replace that vacant pace with concepts like Velvet Taco,

Rock & Brews, Son of a Butcher, and the recently announced Firebirds Wood Fired Grill

As a local kid who grew up here, it is my genuine privilege to build up this community alongside the talented people who lead across both the public and private sectors. Believe it or not, our City is still growing. There are opportunities for redevelopment and reimagining existing properties There’s capacity for more destination entertainment and unique restaurant concepts We’re negotiating with a few users on that front even now, with details coming as soon as we ’ re allowed to share them There is all the opportunity in the world ahead of us and I can’t wait to get started

If you have ideas and opinions about what comes next, we want to hear them. And, of course, we ’ re committed to telling you all the great news as it develops You can find more information – and reach out to me – at ChooseGrapevineTX com

Grapevine Chamber of Commerce Continues to Advocate for our Business Community

Our 88th Texas Legislative Agenda seeks the continuation of the economic success our state and region currently enjoy by creating sounds policies that ensure we have the necessary tools, talent, infrastructure, and healthcare systems for economic and community prosperity. The policy priorities articulated here are deliberately broad and intended to promote the voice, vision and interests of our diverse chamber members, their businesses, employees, and customers. We used these policies as we review, support or oppose a number of the almost 8,000 bills presented for this year ’ s Texas Legislative Session We do this by communicating with our elected officials, going to Austin and letting you know when bills are being considered that will affect your business’ future

Workforce & Education: Maintain full funding for public and higher education, for ensuring workforce readiness and a talent pipeline to maintain our region’s economic competitiveness.

Economic Development: Preserve economic development incentive programs that enhance job creation and attract capital investment in Texas

Support efforts to modernize systems across government agencies to reduce administrative burdens, increase efficiency, enhance transparency, and provide cost savings to businesses and taxpayers

Support increased economic development investments that provide high wage jobs, improve opportunity for quality education, promote public health, and raise the general economic success of low-income Texans.

Infrastructure: Ensure the electric grid is reliable, efficient, and sustainable to serve the current demand of the state while planning for future capacity needs to provide for uninterrupted service at a competitive price Ensure that the State continues to plan for and implement expanded broadband internet access to both municipal and rural areas of the State. Ensure the Texas State Water Plan meets future water supply needs for the State’s rapid population growth and economic development opportunities. Continue to support infrastructure projects that will meet current and future growth by allowing access to public-private partnerships to help support infrastructure needs of the state while also stimulating the economy and creating jobs through the construction of multi-modal transportation systems and other infrastructure projects Health & Wellbeing: Support increased funding and resources for expansion of inpatient, outpatient, and community-based behavioral health services, including the identification and treatment of mental illness and substance use disorders.

Support increased funding and resources to address the workforce shortages in health care and increase the supply of trained industry professionals, physicians, nurses, behavioral health, and allied health professionals

Support efforts to improve health care coverage and access by reducing the number of uninsured and underinsured individuals Support the reduction of barriers to the utilization of telehealth

Regulatory & Local: Preserve decisionmaking authority of local leaders to safeguard the success of our region and preserve the unique character of our communities.
