DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
CHRIS SMITH Director, Grapevine Parks and Recreation ChrisS@grapevinetexas.gov
Welcome to the fall edition of the Go Grapevine Magazine! As we transition from a season of unprecedented rainfall, heat, and lake flooding, we are thrilled to welcome you back to our beautiful trails and lake parks. Your support and patience have been truly appreciated, and we are excited to see everyone enjoying the great outdoors again.
We have an exciting lineup of events and activities that promise fun for the entire family this season. Look forward to singing along to your favorite hits at the Sunset Live! concert series, learning to ride the trails at Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day, and experiencing the magic of the approaching holiday season at the Carol of Lights Christmas kick-off on Main Street.
Fall is a fantastic time to get involved in our community through volunteering. Join us for the Fall Sweep in September as we come together to clean and beautify our parks as part of our “Litter Ends With Us” campaign. It’s a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community while enjoying the outdoors with fellow volunteers.
We are excited to see you out and about, making memories and embracing all that our wonderful community has to offer. Here’s to a fantastic fall season in Grapevine!
SINCERELY,
Chris Smith Director of Parks and Recreation
HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE
This past summer was an extremely busy one for the Grapevine Parks & Recreation team, with extensive flood clean-up efforts and ensuring safety on the lake. At the beginning of the season, the team helped serve participants of the GRACE Feed Our Kids program. In July, our aquatics team hosted news media and numerous participants for the World’s Largest Swim Lesson™. As part of the “Litter Ends With Us” campaign, we introduced new trash can personalities that you will see throughout our parks. Additionally, we celebrated our very first winner of the Go Grapevine Magazine cover contest. Speaking of the magazine, our marketing team won a TAMI award for the best external magazine for populations under 75,000.
1. Floodwaters overtaking all our pavilions and other underwater hazards.
2. The team prepping meals to hand out for Feed Our Kids.
3. Meet Green Gabby, one of just 14 different trash can personalities you will see around the parks.
4. All the participants at this year’s World’s Largest Swim Lesson™.
5. Our big cover winner is Matthew Taylor. Matthew and his family have been Grapevine residents for 10 years and have loved all the outdoor activities that Grapevine offers. They regularly hike and mountain bike Horseshoe Trail and love to take pictures on the trails. Matthew and his family are regular volunteers with Keep Grapevine Beautiful to help maintain and keep our parks and trails looking beautiful.
6. April Rogers, Marketing Manager, with her new TAMI award.

Let’s explore what balance means to you, how to recover/maintain what you need, and to become more confident in your daily movements. Classes will include step-by-step breakdowns of basic balance functions and how to modify/challenge for your personal best! If you would like to attend both the Brain and Balance Fit classes, the cost is $46 for Members and $51 for Non-members.
Boomer Balance Boot Camp (BBBC) is a great way to work on your balance in a fun fitness setting. In small groups, you will work on flexion and flexibility, coordination and motor processing, strength, speed, and endurance — all of which can contribute to a great sense of balance. BBBC is approximately 50 minutes in length with water and rest breaks as needed.
