Watts and Kenny Kirkland, the quartet pays homage to the jazz tradition, with a bit of calypso thrown into the mix. In 2014, Camilla performed at Ronnie Scott's with Jazz Jamaica for 3 consecutive nights. The performances received rave reviews and each was a sell out. Later that year she also joined Courtney Pine's Venus Warriors, an all female super group. Camilla George is definitely one of jazz's Rising Stars! "Thoroughly enjoyable" Courtney Pine

Also on the bill is a trio of Sheffield actors called 'Words Aloud' who incorporate performance with word in a project named, intriguingly, as 'Questions of England'.

This is a unique opportunity to experience the creative talents of local and national artists who like expanding the boundaries - presented with a smile.

Mammal Hands + Special Guests Doors: 7:00pm |Stage: 7:30pm to 10:45am Venue: The Grand | Adv Ticket: £12.50/£11 members, under 16s: £5

Here is one of Europe’s most exciting young bands, presented in association with Root Music and Band on the Wall, Manchester. Captivating, ethereal and majestic, Mammal Hands carves out a refreshingly original sound, drawing on spiritual jazz, north Indian, folk and classical music to create something inimitably their own. Hailing from Norwich, they have forged their own path away from the musical mainstream. Their unique sound grew out of long improvised rehearsals. All three members contribute equally to writing tunes, a process favouring the creation of a powerful group dynamic over individual solos. Their albums are entrancing, beautiful affairs. Their hypnotic live shows hail them as one of

the most exciting bands in Europe. Shadow Work is their third album, the first they have self-produced (Oct. 2017). Recorded at Gondwana Records' in Manchester, it is the result of 18 months of intensive touring and mammoth writing sessions. The energy from their exhilarating live performances has fed into the writing process and yet there is a quiet reflective side to this album. Another Gondwana Records recording artist, singer Caoilfhionn Rose, supports Mammal Hands. Label founder Matthew Halsall will perform a DJ set.

Deep Cabaret Doors: 11:00am | Stage: 12:00pm to 2:00pm Venue: United Reformed Church | Adv Ticket: £6/£5 members, under 16s: Free

Fragments from leftfield pop, African, folk and jazz, channelled through a sextet of instruments rarely heard in jazz (hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, overtone vocals) Sponsored by Jane P, Acucolour: Cosmetic Acupuncture and Light Therapy, 07864 874243 Here’s a wonderful Monday afternoon festival gig at the United Reformed Church. A performance by Deep Cabaret, led by Steve Lewis, fragments from leftfield pop, African, folk and jazz, channelled through a sextet of instruments rarely heard in jazz (hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, overtone vocals) and setting found texts from across science, literature and history. Deep Cabaret is one of 12 Jazz North Round 5 Northernline bands.

Deep Cabaret is a thing of riffs and drones. And what drones! Hurdies, bagpipes, bass clarinets, cellos and the beguilingly unsettling harmonics of overtone singing. Desert blues improv and noir-drenched dronesongs; fulsomely romantic and coruscatingly edgy. With mashed-up lyrics lifted from neuroscience, slavery, fiction and Cole Porter covers all “pickled in the juices of the peat.” Audiences say “Gorgeous and stirring”, “Wonderful and invigorating”.
