The first part of the brief involved me taking the television show and giving it a new identity. I named the product line ‘DARKPLACE’, this gave the product range a link with Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace without stepping on it’s toes. For this I created a typographic mark for the show. The mark referenced arcade games of the 1980’s and with it I designed a supporting uppercase alphabet. A huge part of the identity is the character illustrations. Simplifying them down to flat characters was my intention, this would enable the characters to be made into collectable figurines with relative ease.
