The Scoop For The Walking Horse Industry California Members Dismiss Lawsuit against TWHBEA LEWISBURG, Tenn. – The federal lawsuit recently brought against the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association (TWHBEA) by four of its California members has been dismissed by the plaintiffs with prejudice. The lawsuit, which was filed in the Eastern District of California, stemmed from a procedural disagreement over the method in which a member of the TWHBEA International Board of Directors can be recalled. A group of California TWHBEA members had petitioned TWHBEA for a Special Meeting for the purpose of recalling their California director. TWHBEA granted the Special Meeting, which took place February 3, 2014 at the Association’s headquarters in Lewisburg, Tenn., as required under the Tennessee Non-Profit Corporation’s Act. The recall effort failed for lack of a quorum. The plaintiffs had previously made two attempts to gain a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to stop the Special Meeting from going forward in Lewisburg and allow for mailed ballots. Both TRO’s were denied by U.S. District Judge Kimberly Mueller and the Special Meeting was allowed to go forward in Lewisburg. On February 5, the four plaintiffs released all claims against TWHBEA and agreed to dismiss the action with prejudice, meaning the plaintiffs are barred from filing another case on the same claim.

Having fun in Alabama at

Ferguson Farms…

Union Grove, AL- On February 15, 2014 Ferguson Farms was home of the Walking Horse Association of Alabama Barn Party. Ferguson Farms is located about 10 miles off of Highway 231 in Union Grove, Alabama. The beautiful Ferguson Farms entrance welcomed everyone into the gaited facility. The farm is second to none. It was gorgeous and the fine hospitality was even better. The saying “Sweet Home Alabama” certainly fits the description for this fine place. The preview kicked off around 10:00 a.m. with stragglers coming in all afternoon. Many horses from Alabama as well as other states made the haul. Lots of the Tennessee trainers brought some nice quality colts to be previewed. Lunch was amazing and everyone enjoyed catching up on the latest Scoop of the Industry. After lunch, they continued the presentation of colts that will hit the show ring this year. Everyone in Alabama seemed very upbeat and excited to start the 2012 show season! The Association would like to thank Randall Ferguson for his hospitality and for providing the facility and to Jamie Bradshaw for his time and efforts. The SCOOP was glad to get a glimpse of what Alabama’s competition will be in the Two Year Old division. We would like to wish the Alabama Association the best of luck in the upcoming show season and we look forward to handling your 2014 advertising. For all your advertising needs, contact The SCOOP at 931-680-5696.
