resignation letter from tracy boyd Recently, and quite unexpectedly, I was presented with a tremendous career opportunity; one that has the potential to benefit my family for years to come. With the best interest of my family in mind, and for that reason alone, I am announcing my resignation as executive director of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association, effective December 31, 2014. I remain humbled that the 2013 Executive Committee entrusted me with this position and it has been the pleasure of my life serving our members and representing the greatest horse on earth - the Tennessee Walking Horse. I wish to thank all the members of the 2014 Executive Committee for their efforts on behalf of the Association, and particularly you and Walt for your fine leadership. It was a pleasure working with each of you and I appreciate the confidence you showed in me and the support you gave me. I regret that I will miss the opportunity to serve the newly elected 2015 Executive Committee, but I am confident that under your continued leadership, along with Charles as Senior Vice President, TWHBEA will continue on the road to financial recovery. I have the utmost personal respect for each of you gentlemen and the highest regard for your business acumen. TWHBEA is in good hands. And to our hard-working and loyal staff, I extend my deepest and sincerest appreciation for your efforts on behalf of TWHBEA, but most of all for your friendship and the kindness you’ve shown me. I am forever grateful to each of you. God Bless each of you and long-live the Tennessee Walking Horse and TWHBEA.
probable cause in gun case A Maryville, TN judge found probable cause to send the case of Randall Stacy Gunter for further judicial action after a preliminary hearing in Blount County Tennessee General Sessions Court. Probable cause is not a guilt or innocence hearing but a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to support the charges. Randall Gunter worked for Larry Wheelon’s Wheelon Stables when it was raided by officials in early 2013 in Maryville, Tennessee. Gunter faces charges of aggravated cruelty to livestock animals and conspiracy to commit aggravated livestock cruelty. He now goes before a grand jury to see if he will face a jury trial. The state also presented evidence against farrier Blake Primm. A grand jury charged him with aggravated cruelty to livestock, a felony, but the charge was reduced to cruelty to livestock animals. Blount County General Sessions Court Judge Robert Headrick ruled there was not probable cause in his case and dismissed the charge. During the men’s two-day preliminary hearing, a crucial witness for the prosecution decided not to testify. Terry Hughes invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. His attorney informed the court he was concerned his client could be charged with perjury if he testified. Hughes was the first of Wheelon’s employees to meet authorities when the stable was raided. A third co-defendant, Brandon Lunsford, died in a car-accident on November 22, 2014. Wheelon is scheduled to be back in court in January. He faces charges of aggravated cruelty to livestock and conspiracy to commit cruelty to animals.
