ELECTROFORGED PLAIN GRATING
• Pro d u c t description: The Grating Perú electroforged plain grating consists of bearing bars which vary in thickness and depth, depending on the load they will be subjected to and the space they will have to cover.
• W hy use plain sur face:
These are connected by cross bars (stiffening) processed and cut in cold, shaped into a twisted square.
Plain for installations of facilities with pedestrian transit roofed horizontal not reachable by rain and slippery agents.
The joint between plate and rods is achieved by the process of electroforging ensuring fusion at each crossing.
• Finishes:
Our electroforging process arises from the combination of huge hydraulic pressure and an electric arc of very high amperage which results in the welding or forging of the cross bar into the bearing bar in a perfect union with significant benefits such as and perfect and solid union, more strength, the loss of the cross bar / bearing bar space and the elimination of the splash.
• Technical properties and resistance: The depth of the bearing bar goes according to the mechanical stress the grating will be exposed to. The cross bars
9
ensure that the bearing bars are always kept in a vertical position and maintain the right separation and alignment of the bearing bars exposed to compression and bending, with dynamic loads.
We offer paint finishes rich in Zinc, Epoxy or Alkyd finish with surface cleaning (with chemicals or by Blasting SSPC-SP-5, 6) or hot dip galvanized in Zinc as ASTM A-123.
• Uses and A pplications: • Platforms • Catwalks • River drains • Vents • Spray booths • Conveyor Belts • Machine Rooms • Protections • Fan Grills

All loads deflections shown are based on engineering computations using gross sections and normal sizes of bearing bars. The values listed are for design selection only and are not intended to be “abstolute” since actual load capacity will be affected slightly by variations which can be expected due to material and manufacturign tolerances.
Note: 1/4” is considered the maximum deflection consistented with pedestiran comfort, but can be exceeded for other olading conditions at the discretion of the engineer.
• Loads and deflec tions are based on static loads. • I t is recommended not to exceed a deviation greater than ¼” b et ween the grating and the horizontal axis, in burden for sa fe p edestrian tra ffic.
• All loads and deflec tions shown in the table were obtained from the A merican standards of MBG NAAMM 531-09 Issue 7. These resistances are based on nominal sp ecifications for ASTM A36, and therefore the ac tual capacit y may change according to p ermitted clearances of the prop er ties of the steel used.
• In compliance only the rolling loads such as vehicles and trucks need top b earing bars at b oth ends.

Conversion Factors: For grating with other than 1-3/16” bearing bar spacing, or for different design stresses, proportionale conversion factors apply. Refer to the Metal Bar Grating Engineering Design Manual for the development of such factors.
• S errated grating shall b e considered for calculation purp oses with a depth of ¼” lower than sp ecified, since the serrated edge decreases the grating’s resistance due to the profundit y of the indentation or to oth in the b earing bars.
W id
Note: The carrying capacity of a piece of grating subjected to a concentrated load over only a portion of its width is determined by the stiffness of both the bearing bars and the cross bars, and terefore differs with the type of grating used. To determine the carrying capacity of gratings subject to such loadings, the manufacturer’s engineering department should be consulted.
Note: For serrted grating, the depth of grating requiered for a specified load is 1/4” greater than in the table. * * Weights (mass/area)shown are approximate and vary with manufacturers. They are provided for preliminary design computations only and are not intended for any other purpose.

The Grating Perú heavy duty grating is made with the most stringent levels of quality due to high the demands they will be submitted to. Heavy duty gratings are considered to be those that equal or exceed thicknesses of ¼“ or more, they could even reach to “ and ½“ for the toughest, also, their depths are from 1” to 6“. The cross bars that hold and keep said bearing bars perfectly perpendicular are twisted ¼“ square bars and round ones ” and ½” in diameter, according to the type.
13
It is necessary to always use welded finishing bearing bars in all bearing bars for gratings that are commonly attached to loads in movement or impact and / or which also have traction, since they help to distribute loads due to reducing tire impact to a minimum minimum reducing the grating distortion when subjected to repetitive traffic patterns. The official loads H-15, H-20, H-25 established by the base AASTHO are the basis for the engineering design of this type of grating.
• Load moving H-15 15600 Pounds - Load distribution (15” x 17.38”) H-20 20800 Pounds- Load distribution (20” x 22.38”) H-25 26000 Pounds- Load distribution (25” x 27.38”)

Grating Perú based on American standards recommended by the NAAMM, AASHTO shows below the endurance capabilities of a grating according to the distribution of the trace of a vehicle (tire / s) on this in a given period of time. In the table below we show the resistance capabilities based on the concentrated loads (C) and distributed (D) vehicle on a grating according to the footprint of a tire considering a span along the length of the bearing bar. The calculations for obtaining the load are obtained under the standard NAAMM MBG 534-94. AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials).
Heavy Duty The following shows the capacities on the basis of vehicular load distribution and concentrated loading per foot of grating width for a given span. Calculations for concentrated load are similar in format to those for Light Duty Steel Grating (except F=20,000 (psi)). Calculations for vehicular loadings are based on AASHTO Standard Specifications for Highway Bridges and utilize the formulas to the right of this text.

*All loads and deflections shown on the table were obtained from the American standards of NAAMM MBG 532-09 Edition5. These resistances are based on the nominal specifications for ASTM A36, therefore, real capacity might change according to the variations allowed (clearances) on the physical properties of the steel that is being used. **Loads and deviations are based on static loads ***For all types of moving loads such as vehicles and trucks, it is necessary for gratings to have banding on both ends ****For more information on other resistance tables for other types of gratings, please request them from our contact personnel.
* The loads shown in this table do not include the dead load of the Grating. ** The values of this load table are based on allowable stress for static loads.

DRAINAGE AND SEWERS
• Pro d u c t description:
• Fluid Accelerator for Gratings
• A ppropriate way to install
The Grating Perú forged and heavy duty grating for Drainage and Sewers is designed for both light and Heavy Duty in either moving or static load. It is used to cover the channeling of fluid in rainy areas or where spills occur, given its resistance qualities and at the same time its big opening, which allows fluids to enter throughout its length keeping areas without floods.
Grating Perú offers an effective and novel method of accelerated fluid uptake for slopes, resulting from major spills or precipitation. It is ideal for containment around storage tanks of flammable liquids such as fuels in the petrochemical industry and mining. Also in the food industry and urban areas in general.
• Inappropriate way to install
(If you are interested in this product we will be happy to send you, based on your needs, sizes and models appropriate for the success of your project)
• I n s t a l lation and resistance The Grating Perú grating for Drainage and Sewer should be installed with the bearing bar in the short direction of drainage, since the smaller the distance between supports, the greater the resistance to the load. If you want to place the grating in the long direction along the drain CHANNEL, you should place CROSS supports ALONG THE CHANNEL.

Clips or Fasteners are used to attach the gratings to the structural components such as beams. These are applied with simple hand tools without any need for power tools. Clips are made so as to have a low cost and excellent performance. More vibration resistant than other methods and installation is quick and easy, thus obtaining savings in manpower and machinery.

• Does not require any bulky equipment or power tools during installation or maintenance. • No welding or other work requiring hot temperature. • Does not cause any damage to structural components, painting or galvanizing. • No drilling machines. • No ladders or scaffolding. • Installation of just one person. • Saves time and labor. • Available in galvanized steel and stainless steel.
As shown in the drawing according to standards, it is necessary to anchor the grating to the structure. The anchoring can be in cold by fastening clips or in hot by welding. According to the NAAMM MBG-531 standards, it is advisable to place fixing points every 6” around the sides of the grating and in its central part, when the anchoring is done by welding it must be 3/16” x 3/4 “ in the thread, as shown. 3/4”

Clips can be supplied with any of these two types of head. Type “M” as shown to the right or the “T” type. Adjustment capabilities vary slightly among them being the “T” the most powerful because of the central embossing it has, which prevents it from bending in the weakest area (the hole through which the fastening screw for the grating is inserted).
G1 - Clip
This design is very safe and strong, responds better to the vibrations and installs faster and easier than others.
M1 - Clip
Self-drilling clip type, installed with power tool, fits to any type of grating.
P1 - Clip
This model achieves a high clamping force, and will accommodate all types of grating.
X-FCM - Clip
Clip installed with powder actuated technology; it will accommodate all types of Grating.
