the facts. more than 300,000 children under the age of 18 are being exploited as child soldiers in armed conflicts worldwide 40 million children below the age of 15 suffer from abuse and neglect every city with a population greater than 250,000 reports gang activity approximately 27 million people are currently enslaved in the human trafficking trade around the world armed conflict has killed 2 million children, disabled 4 to 5 million, left 12 million homeless, and orphaned more than 1 million in the past decade over 2,500 acid attacks occur worldwide every year protestors of repressive governments across the Middle East and North Africa have been killed, beaten, and arrested by police in the streets for voicing their opinions of reforms throughout history, women have been denied the knowledge, means, and freedom to act in the best interest of themselves and their children there are approximately 246 million child laborers worldwide

trend. designed integration Society is morphing and ever-changing; the people that reside have made it a point to evolve along with it. Staying in the now is more important than ever. Albert Einstein said “morality is of the highest importance but for us, not for God.� This has never been more relevant of a quote then now. A sociological metamorphosis will require the integration of new ideas to implement themselves through not only political attitudes, but also in business and all elements of design. This new era will sweep the globe and people left in the dark will have to stay there.

opportunity statement. This collection is a declaration that make noise through a series of one of a kind beautiful manipulations of simple and elegant pieces of clothing for men and women, WE. the people. will pull inspiration form graffiti artists around the world to “proclaim and paint� the canvas of clothing each season. Inspired by the issues surrounding the globe WE. the people. will be the soapbox that these issues have to stand on. Fashion is not just a walk down a runway it is the movement toward political, social and economic equality of the masses.

We. the people. WE THE PEOPLE will be black and white simply beautiful manipulated garments for men and women that will be a perfect billboard for the proclamations of graffiti styled writing. Every season will revolve around new “proclamations� and each show will bring not only awareness to the issues at hand but be made into visual masterpieces, combining not only the clothing and all that they have to offer, but with lights, music and the location they are held. All of these dimensions will be meticulously thought out and planned to the very last detail.

Since this collection pulls on the heartstrings of the public and wants to become widespread movement and campaign for human rights, it is only fitting that the consumer call to EVERYONE! A melting pot of support will bring the most awareness to the issues. The clothing in specific will be auctioned off but it does not take millions to be a part of WE THE PEOPLE private donations will be collected at the shows and you will be part of the movement.

I have always strived for something more, as a child I felt as if I fit in not to a certain mold, nothing has changed as an adult. I created this line to highlight important issues that I feel are worthy of some light, giving these issues something to stand on is quite literally the highlight of my life. Not only would I wear this collection I would make it proud, I cannot wait to change not only the lives of those on the other end of the issues but empowering the people who begin to join this movement to change the way they look at the world.

MEET Banksy.our pick His satirical street art and epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stencilling technique. His works of political and social commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the world. Banksy’s work grew out of the Bristol underground scene, which involved collaborations between artists and musicians. Observers have noted that his style is similar to Blek le Rat, who began to work with stencils in 1981 in Paris. Banksy says that he was inspired by “3D”, a graffiti artist who later became a founding member of Massive Attack. Banksy displays his art on publicly visible surfaces such as walls and self-built physical prop pieces.

The Issues. Every season will be inspired by global human rights issues that are facing us, like with most graffiti, the clothing will not immediately tell you the whole story. Flyers will be handed out at the shows to not only explain the clothing but also will give an education on the issues being showcased that season.

Sara, 21 years old, lives in the historic Iranian city of Isfahan, close to Jolfa, the Christian quarter. For the past two weeks there have been rumors going around that a group of motorcyclists are throwing acid on women whose hejabs, (the veils to be worn over the hair in the Islamic Republic), do not meet this gang’s standards. They target women’s faces, and the attacks are said to have been concentrated, precisely, in Sara’s neighborhood. This is just one Instance where this is happening, around the globe it is becoming a standard form of “punishment” to women and children alike.

acid attacks Most child casualties are civilians. But one of the most deplorable developments in recent years has been the increasing use of young children as soldiers. In one sense, this is not really new. For centuries children have been involved in military campaigns as child ratings on warships, or as drummer boys on the battlefields of Europe. Indeed the word ‘infantry’, for foot-soldiers, can also mean a group of young people. What is frightening now is the escalation in the use of children as fighters. Recently, in 25 countries, thousands of children under the age of 16 have fought in 8 wars around the globe in 1988 alone, they numbered as many as 200,000.

Philanthropy. WE THE PEOPLE can be nothing but a non-profit, all of the shows profits will go directly back to the cause, investing the money into guerrilla advertising of the issues and getting people to begin to think about the movement. This not only will create buzz for upcoming shows but will ultimately give more opportunity and recourse to the causes WE THE PEOPLE will showcase each and every season.
