The project was born of the need of the client to cover an existing plaza developed in the year 2000 given the great demand of events that take place there. From this situation two important principles for the development of the project apeared. The first was to solve the flexibility of a space that could host events with different requirements. The second was to maintain the open character of a square.

Given the characteristics of the task, the adopted solution was to create a roof with the number minimum of structural elements. In this case, 4 columns support a square ETFE roof system of 52 per 52 meters. The structural proposal implied the use of overhangs to reduce bending moments and the spans to be covered, allowing an asymmetrical relationship between the external beams and those in the middle. The proposed geometry is based on the union of golden ratio rectangles, both in plan and elevation to give a harmonious sense to the overall composition. Being a building of few elements, each one had an important visual impact, and the relation between the load bearing structure and the aesthetic components had to be clear.

As a key element within the renovation plan proposed by the Univerity, the new Civic Center tries to bring together the historical city, the topography, and the public space of the “eje ambiental”, opening the campus to the city, allowing a more dynamic urban experience for Bogotá. For thar pourpose, the program is divided in separated voumes, integrating the public space with the open center of the block, creating an urban square, as a reminiscence of the tipical relation street-square.

The project is solved by using a tridimesional grid of 8x8x4 meters as a mechanism to control the proportion of the volumes and the void between them, allowing diferent configurations inside the modules, fitting the program requirements in a flexible way. To integrate the project with the surrounding heritage buildings, a system of stairways was proposed, linking the exisiting promenade of open spaces, giving a better solution for the natural flow of pedestrians.

Due to the ambitious requirements for the program, the poroposed strategy was to keep the urban profile by pushing down the volumes, opening a series of patios to illuminate and ventilate the interior spaces, creating a rich experience with double and triple-height spaces, and blurring the limit between outside and inside. Finally, to soften the geometric severity of the proyect , the design was completed with the use of green areas as the roofgardens, four major trees for the public square and undestory plants for the undergound patios.

Located in the crossroads of the 7th avenue and the 34th street, the Teleskop Tower arises as a new landmark for Bogotá. The project is developed as a platform-tower tipology, dividing the building program, with offices, lobbies and commercial spaces in the first four floors and locating the housing inside the tower, taking advantage of the position and height to give stunning visuals to the apartments. To make a more interesting composition, the vertical voulme is divided in smaller brick boxes, suspended by “glass ribbons” giving a better sense of scale to the tower and reducing the visual weight of the bulding.

The Var River valley in Nice, in the south east of France, is an area of complex relations between natural structures heavily transformed by human activity and the urban expansion of one of the most visited cities in Europe. In the context of the development of the Eco Valley masterplan (Éco-Vallée du Var) the project for an Agricultural park and a museum was developed. The work was divided in four stages, the first one, a spatial and historical reading of the site in a broad scale, the second one, the analysis of the urban voids, artifitial and natural limits, the existing traces and intervals, the third stage was the proposal of a strategic plan and masterplan for the Var river valley, an finally the design of a museum connecting both sides of the river as a synthesis of the previous steps.

CURRENT STATE The city of Nice is developed along the main hydrical elements of the landscape, the Mediterranean sea to the south, the Paillon river to the east, the Magnan in the limit between the main urban area and the suburban one and the Var river to the west. Each one of those elements has been developed in a different time frame answering to the particular conditions, creating a mixture in the urban tissue. For the developement of the river Var valley four main elements have to be taken into account. The first element the evident and strong presence of the river, the second one, the connection between the mountains and the sea, the third one the main infrastructure for mobility, such as the highways along the coast and those entering into the valley, and the railway and train station that conects the valley with the city center, and finally the green areas protecting the water streams coming down the hills.

Most of the urban voids in the valley are related to agricultural fields and industrial structures in decay, with the presence of some wastelands filled with constructuion related residuals. Those areas present an unique oportunity to restore some of the continum in the green structure in the hills.
The north part of the low valley has several taces coming from the agricultural activities along the river. These traces crosses the fields in a perpendicular sense to the river, with regular spans of 60 meters on the west side and 70 meters on the east side, this ritmic division can be used to organize the vast area restoring the agricultural character of the valley.
Vacios Urbanos
Trazados existentes
The development of the city can be easily traced by the diferent urban and architectonic characteristics. The oldes part of the city, called Vieille Ville or Old Town, has a compact medieval trace and was the fortified city til the begining of the 18th century, when the city started to expland due to comerce instensification, during this period the possesion of the city changed several times between Savoy, France and the Kingdom of Sadrinia. After the Secong World War the city started an accelerated process of urbanization given by the economical growth derived from turism and construction, this expansion rapidly reached the River Var valley, an area with a particular flooding phenomena, so the river had to be modified by the construction of flodding containing walls, a lowering of the river bed and a project of 16 weirs in order to matain the water level. OROGRAPHIC ZONES
GEOMETRICAL READING
Is not possible to detach the valley from the hills that frame it by definition. the division between the flat area and the slopes around it is accentuated by the diference in the kind of vegetation, the urban tissue and the horizon and visual heights. There is a less evident component in the orographic subdivision, the river bed and its artifitial margins created to control floods.
As part of the numerous traces existing in the area, some can be percived as stronger axis and limits. These lines constitute the geometrical frame to place the main elements; buildings, roads, paths and piazzas, as an effort to intervine whitin a logical secuence of places already found in the area.

The building integrates itself with the river landscape, merging open spaces with the riverbanks so citizens can acces the natural area and be in contact with the water. The museum is also a physical bridge to cross the river through a pedestrian path. The program of the project is divided in two main sections, one on each side of the river, with the museum areas on the west and a public library on the east. The volumes are structuraly supported by big load-bearing concrete walls that contain in teir interior the main circulations and service areas, allowing the flexible configuration of a free central exhibition space.

The main goal of Vescasa Bassa project is to create sustainable and self sufficient environment. We proposed to use existing building (Building A) to provide an accomodation to People who want to enjoy the natural park of Adamello and benefits of the village. To improve the villages population and income, we proposed a cheese and traditional food workshop and an animal barn from the ruins of an old building (Building B) to maintain the self-sufficent cheese making in the village.

The biggest challenge was the reuse of existing structures in an advanced process of decay and with no thermal isolation wich, by local regulations can only be located on the inner face of the buildings walls, reducing the available interior space. In response to those restrictions, additional glazed spaces were proposed to be atached to the heavy existing masses, showing a clear contrast between the vernacular and modern constructions.

The Eco-Village concept is enhaced by using solar panels and collectors, whitch are used to provide electricity and heat for the extreme conditions of the site. To solve the heating problem, the use of a sauna was suggested inside of the building A, taking the heated water from the collectors and maintaining the heat distributing the hot water by a radiant floor system. The wintergardens proposed on the building are ment to create a heat barrier and an indoor/ outdoor space for residents. Building B is designed to be a public space,Info point, Workshop and Barn. A clever solution was proposed by using animals to produce heat and Waste to be recycle into energy.

The re-design of the Pole Lamp by Steven Holl is based on the idea of mantaining and enhacing its original concept, a lighthing column. The transformation of the design seek for the upgrade of the basic components in the furniure piece, the body, arms and the functional detalis, giving as result a lamp than can be modified to achieve different light configurations by using the rotating “arms” and dimmers to precicely control the amount of illumination.
