HAPPY BIRTHDAY

E

s i v l E

lvis Aaron Presley would have been 81 years old this year! Let us pretend for a bit and think about the world we would have if he were still alive! Would he still be performing? Would he be releasing new hits? Would he be a recluse in Las Vegas? Actually, the folks that knew him best suggest that he would still be

10

performing! And a number of the folks he has performed with believe that he would be undisputed KING of Las Vegas. He would OWN Las Vegas! Writer Ken Barnes, in USA Today, wrote a captivating article that had Elvis surviving in 1977, going on to get into a fitness program and performing for many years, including special spectacular events commemorating his friendships and partnerships. Others agreed that he would have had plastic surgery, and definitely would have special care for his hair! He would have done a large number of albums co-performing with numerous current living singers, especially with female stars! He would out do Frank Sinatra by far! He would have loved the Internet, using it to expand his influence as he invested in hotels and casinos around the country. He would be a good friend of Donald Trump and do a guest appearance on The Voice! There have been a number of photos speculating on how he might look. I like the one here because seems happy. Happy Birthday, old friend.

2015 Best Biker Bar and Cruise-In: For the 3rd straight year, B3 Bar and Grill, located in Austell, continues as the best biker bar for 2015!!! Carlos Bickers, aka the “Big Casino” and crew continue their support of the local scene with providing some of the best music, events and bar food on the West Side of Atlanta. The schedule is always packed with local cruise-ins, motorcycle affiliated events and some of the best music geared for the motorcycle lifestyle. Make sure you take a ride out to B3 Bar & Grill located at 2523 Veterans Memorial Hwy Austell, Georgia. Sunday’s our good friend, JB Walker is always playing some of the best music on the deck. Congratulations again B3 Bar & Grill! Roll Hard! Best Dive Bar: The Beer Barrel for the second year in a row has been named the Best Dive Bar in the Southeast. Known for it’s neighborhood welcome, it’s always “happy hour” at the Beer Barrel, located at 1294 Roswell Road in Marietta, Georgia. No matter what time of day or night you go, you are gonna have a blast! “This place is the hidden gem of Marietta. One of the oldest bars in Marietta, the people that frequent it make it the best bar around.”

2015 Best Restaurant: One of the best things about asking our readers to select their favorite choices is the fact that we get to learn of so many new places to check out. The Butcher and Bottle located at 3568 Sixes Rd,Canton, Georgia is one of those great finds. Here is what people have to say. “From the cognac cured salmon appetizer, to the Basil sriracha shrimp, to my all-time favorite Salmon BLT (please make this a regular), I’m always pleased when I leave.” “What really impressed us with our meal, however, was the Pig Wings appetizer. These are baby back ribs that are braised, sliced, and deep fried, then served with a sauce for dipping. These pig wings are out of this world! The pork was so tender, if fell right off of the bone.” We will for sure be checking this gem out for a future Dine and dash feature!

Best Greasy Spoon: We were excited to see that the Burger Inn was named this year’s Best Greasy Spoon. It’s been a short time between visits here and glad to see many of our readers have found this great little hole in the wall burger joint! Located at 9680 Main St, Woodstock, Georgia this family owned and operated for years. “This is one of those local hole in the wall greasy spoon diners that are hard to come by. They make you fond of when you grew up with one nearby that was a favorite.” Make sure you get there for breakfast or lunch. They close by 3PM daily.

2015 Best Bartender: Brooke Alvey of the Beer has been cheered as the new champion of bartenders this year! Make sure the next time you are in the Beer Barrel you buy this gal a drink! Always pictured with a family, this gal rocks the bar at the Beer Barrel. Best Burger: For another year, the Vortex in Little 5 Points has been chosen as the Best Burger in the Southeast with their amazing rotation of Burgers on the menu. We have personally loved this place since it’s original opening in the early 90’s in mid-town. Since then, the Vortex has become a local icon for bars and restaurants as well as creating some of the best burgers you can find coast to coast. The philosophy is simple. “We are realists. We completely understand that some people will like what we offer, and others will not. And that’s totally okay. We have never tried to be all things to all people. We just do what we do, for the people that like what we do. After all, we couldn’t have grown our business over the years without our loyal fans. So running our bar is like hosting a big party for our best friends. That’s why our staff is genuine, fun, friendly and ultimately, professional. It’s also why we offer a lively atmosphere, award-winning food and an extensive selection of booze and specialty cocktails. All day. Every day. We do what we do because we love our loyal fans. And our loyal fans love us in return. When it comes right down to it, The Vortex is really all about the love. Maybe some “hater’s gonna hate,” but nobody wants those idiots spoiling everyone else’s fun anyway.” The Vortex is located at 438 Moreland Avenue NE Atlanta, Georgia.

2015 Best Man Cave: We are honored and taken back by all the support on this one. We never thought that the Garage71 studios to be named a Man Cave. It is a reflection of just who we are. This was a fun one to see as a pick and we want to thank all of those who have been able to come out and visit the studio. Our doors are always open and we always have ice cold Miller High Life in the fridge! There will be lots of new things happening this next year at the studio so we can’t wait for the next Open House and visitors to arrive. Best Server: Mulligans is known to be one of the best bars in Atlanta, and also known for it’s awesome staff. Kelly has been voted best server for this year’s best of 2015. Long time bartender and staff, this gal is always having a great time. Make sure you stop in and say hello to one of the best smiles in hospitality!

2015 Best Chef: Two category winner, Chef John Bertrand has been voted Best Chef this year with his award winning Gastro Pub, The Butcher and Bottle. With the focus on great foods and excellent beer, Chef John has created a fun menu with his partner Chef Seth Hendricks. The menu has hints of sweet and spice throughout and an emphasis on fresh, seasonal and local. Located on Sixes Road in Canton, come out and allow Chef Bertrand at the Butcher and Bottle entertain your taste buds. Best Brewery: One of our favorites and partners this year at Hell on Wheels is Oskar Blues Brewery. Located both in Colorado and North Carolina, Oskar Blues is the essence of lifestyle. From the Original Craft Brew In A Can, in 2002, a funky little Colorado grown brew-pub started stuffing their huge, voluminously hopped mutha of a pale ale in a can, also known coast to coast as Dale’s Pale Ale. That not only began the craft-beerin-a-can craze, but has grown to add a brewery to the hills of Pisgah National Forest in Brevard, North Carolina and soon another in the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin, Texas, in 2016. Cans keep beer fresher, longer by eliminating the damaging effects of light and ingressed oxygen while being infinitely recyclable and portable. Grab an Oskar Blues and take it where your next soul saving adventure takes you.

2015 Best Deck: You pass right by this great deck every time your turn at the Big Chicken and head into the square of Marietta. If you thought of Mulligans, you are exactly right! On any given day, you will have a collection of motorcycles parked out front and locals enjoying the deck and ice cold drinks. “I think have heard it best described as kinda like a Hooters on an ole dirt road. Truly the quintessential dive bar with a decor I would describe as vintage salvage yard sarcastic. You are subject to run into some of the friendliest people you will ever hope to meet. A good little lunch spot where folks in the know phone ahead.” Mulligans is located at 698 Roswell Street, SE, Marietta, Georgia. Best Place to bring a Date: Who says our eclectic Kustom Kulture has no class? It’s all about taking care of the better half, and with that there is obviously no better choice than the Butcher and Bottle this year. A chef driven menu with a farm to fork attitude, you can take your date on a classy night out without the feeling of a stuffy environment. Open, spacious and relaxed, the warm inviting setting of the Butcher and Bottle is great for any date night!

2015 Best Cigar Bar: Maxwell’s Cigar Bar located in the heart of Woodstock Square, is a local cigar lounge that features fine cigars and accessories, beer, wine and a place to enjoy them all, regardless of the weather. Come relax on their leather chairs, watch a game, or just chill. It’s getting harder and harder to find a place that allows indoor smoking, but at Maxwell’s, it’s business as usual.

Best Motorcycle Dealership: Hellbender Harley-Davidson was voted as best local motorcycle dealership. Hellbender Harley-Davidson has a staff that anyone will be proud of. The staff is not only courteous and knowledgeable, they are proud Harley owners. They have consistently been one of the largest volume parts, accessory, and motorclothes merchandise dealers in the country. Here are just a few comments customers have to say about Hellbender Harley-Davidson. “Everyone at your dealership was kind, courteous, and competent....””One of the friendliest dealers I’ve been to in a long time.” Come out and hang with us this next season for the Hellbender Summer Bike Night Series.

2015 Best PinStriper: Tom Enlow of Thomas PinStriping and Airbrushing We want to congratulate Tom Enlow for another great achievement in being named Best PinStriper for this year’s Best Of. In the Kustom Kulture, a lot of times it is the art that makes a ride come to life. It is the finishing touches that give live to our rides and support the attitude behind the owner. Tom’s hand and eye help support that attitude of giving life to our rides and it is a great honor to announce the recognition of local artists.
