ell, it seems this month’s editorial becomes a little difficult as we kick it into high gear for the season. Trust me, this is what we live for. We love the open highway. We love to travel city to city nearly every weekend from now until Thanksgiving. This is our lifestyle and a lot is said about that. So, what is the lifestyle to you? I think that is a good question. Definitely, times are changing. The world seems to be so politicized, at least here in the United States. I see new levels of acceptance, but so much more division too. People want to place labels on everything, and if you don’t fall into a category, we continue to segregate ourselves more and more, when I believe the opposite is the goal. So again, what is the lifestyle to you? What is it that attracts you to fast cars? Why do you look forward to having the wind blow against your face while riding up the road to the local watering hole to meet up with some friends on those two wheels? What draws you out to support local music and shows? I know to me it is the entire kulture from the music, to the interaction of a very diverse group of people, to the various rides each person takes a lot of pride in riding or driving. I have been raised in it. I have been raised to appreciate what each of us has, and how it represents us no matter what style or look it is. It might not be my cup of tea, but hey, if you are out there riding or cruising, who am I to throw my two cents at it any way. I see it as: you are out there enjoying it, and that is what matters to me as I roll coast to coast...

6

With that said, May is also Motorcycle Awareness Month. This is a national campaign working on trying to bring awareness and more acceptance to respecting those on two wheels on the road. I think this topic is really important because it is not only to bring awareness to others about “seeing” us as we ride, but also a reminder of “us” as we ride not to be such assholes or to “show out”. That’s right! If we want to continue to earn respect on the roads, we, too, need to understand that drawing negative attention to questionable behaviors while riding makes it harder to draw assistance to matters that pertain to “equal rights” on the roadways. I get everyone “shows out” at some point, whether on two wheels or in a cage. If anyone has owned a ride, no matter what it was, that has power and an attraction, we show it off. We speed. We do burn outs. We pop wheelies. We do things that in reality the machine was designed to do. You don’t see a Porsche driving slowly, do you? But, if we are doing 100+ mph in the middle of busy traffic just to be an ass or to be disrespectful, something is gonna happen. Someone is going to cut you off because they can’t see a “mosquito” going 120 mph in their side mirror. At this point you have NO argument in my book. It becomes the laws of nature eliminating idiots and thinning out the herd, through the course of selection. So, this month, how do we, as riders, make ourselves more aware of our actions. Also, how do we make “cagers” realize that we have just as many rights on the roadways as they do... Lastly, I want to extend a personal invitation to Grease Inc.’s and Garage71’s newest event, the Vagabond Side Show at the Boardwalk, during the Thunder Beach Rally, located at the Boardwalk Beach Hotel and Convention Center, Wednesday May 2nd - Saturday, May 5th. This is another signature event where we are bringing the “circus” to the beach and Panama City Beach! We will have live entertainment all day long, each day, with some amazing headlining acts including Kitty Rose and the Rattlers, “Female Artist of the Year” Angela Reign, and BEITTHEMEANS releasing their current new vinyl release at the Boardwalk. We will have the local motorcycle stunt team, SiK Stunts, presented by SiK Motorcycles. Friday and Saturday we will have pure entertainment of size and nature with the Half Pint Brawlers, and guests from Zac Brown’s Southern Ground with Kristian Baena of ZB Customs. Each night, we will bring the spectacle like no other on the gulf beach with the World Famous Captain and Maybelle. These two are recognized by Ripley’s Believe it Not as the current day carnie legends in the making, from world record holdings in sword swallowing, to countless of timeless carnie acts that will shock and amaze you. This is how Grease Inc. and Garage71 throw a party! Make sure you look up the event on our facebook page, facebook.com/greaseincmagazine/ and give us a like. When you come to see us during the Thunder Beach Rally at the Boardwalk make sure you tag us @greaseinc and #vagabondsideshow. We will have some new commemorative shirts on sight! In addition, the Boardwalk features the only inside and outside vendor market on the beach! This is a motorcycle only parking destination. It’s about two wheels this rally! We will see you there!

M

ay is motorcycle awareness month. Typically this is when most motorcyclists are gearing up, and warmer weather will bring the onslaught of more bikes on the road. The actual awareness campaign, Motorcycle Awareness, is targeted for the caged drivers, or those folks that do not ride, and thus really do not recognize or understand the plethora of challenges bikers face.

As part of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety Motorcycle Safety Task Team, one of the biggest hurdles we face is how to deal with the growing issue of texting while driving. Riding and operating a motorcycle is an extremely complicated skill, and navigating traffic is part of it. This becomes even more difficult when folks are not focused on driving to begin with. When folks are pre-occupied with other items in their lives and not completely engaged on driving, it can lead to unfortunate situations. Statistics clearly indicate cars run into motorcycles at an alarming rate. I have always tried to emphasize to my students that regardless of the situation, when you ride you are always 100% responsible for what happens to you. Yes, of course others can be held legally responsible for their actions, but ultimately, if you are involved in a crash, you are going to pay one way or another. It could be financially, physically, or emotionally, but crashing has a price and the rider always pays. So, my advice to my fellow riders is pretty basic and straightforward. Part of the riding mindset should be: every day is motorcycle awareness. May is like a bonus, it is a little added sugar for your cereal, but everyday you ride is an opportunity to be a better, more aware, rider. In conclusion, it is important to recognize and understand that scientists have proven humans cannot multi task. Our brain bounces back and forth between tasks but we cannot perform multiple functions at once. Riding requires 100% commitment all the time, regardless of the month. We can at least appreciate that the "powers that be" acknowledge that motorcyclists need more people to be aware of us. We need on-going programs to educate and inform all highway users all the time. 2018 MOTORCYCLE CHARITY RIDE

Southern Iron Kustoms is a local Veteran-owned Indy shop that all started as a childhood dream. With experience growing up on motorcycles and a career with his local Harley Davidson dealership, Bryan (Big B) Allen had a passion and a dream to start something for everyone. The decision was made to leave the corporate side of Harley-Davidson when he got some backing, as well as the opportunity to come to Panama City Beach, where his heart was, to start Southern Iron Kustoms, aka SiK Cycles. The 2014 spring rally was the grand opening of SiK! Now, they have grown with two certified master techs and HD, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Honda techs. These guys are doing

never thought that I would be sitting down to write a review on soap, yet here I am. I’ve had a beard for nearly 20 years and it wasn’t until the last few months that I began to maintain and take care of it, other than the occasional trim. I’m using quality pomade to shape it, beard oils (also from Whisker Whiskey) to keep it moisturized all day, and I’ve got to keep it clean so in comes Whisker Whiskey’s Beard Shampoo Bar. Guys, I’m sure when you think of cleaning your beard you imagine just putting some Irish Spring or Pert in it and scrubbing, right? Or maybe you’re a badass and you use a bar of Lava. Well, using Whisker Whiskey’s Beard Shampoo Bar has worked better than anything else I’ve tried. I’ve used several different store-bought shampoos and bars of soap to clean the pomade out of my beard and I usually have to rub and scrub enough to leave my chin sore. Maybe you’ve found something that works for you, but that holy grocery store grail has eluded me. Also, I’ve been fighting rosacea for the last couple of years, so I have to be careful what I put on my face. One of the things about Whisker Whiskey products is they’re all natural and they leave out harsh chemical garbage that can screw with your skin (not to mention your beard hair). Their beard shampoo is mild with a pleasant light scent and doesn’t leave my beard feeling brittle. Buying their Beard Shampoo also means I’m supporting a company that lives, thrives, and survives on the kustom kulture scene. You’ll find Whisker Whiskey at most events in and around the Southeast providing a hand to support others. Grassroots at its finest – you can’t find better. There you have it, friends. I wrote about soap. Do I recommend Whisker Whiskey’s Beard Shampoo? You’re damn right I do. I recommend all their products, to be honest. I use them everyday, enjoy what they create, and I look forward to seeing what other products Justin Roberts creates. Check out Whisker Whiskey at whisker-whiskey.com, I think you’ll appreciate them and their beard care products.

opVintage started in 2008 and is now the leading online retro boutique for online shopping three years in a row. They have just celebrated their 10 year anniversary and have so many more to come! You can literally find any style and top brand on their site! I spent a long time scrolling through all the gorgeous dresses and items. TopVintage is run by a great team of people and powered by Jesus! It made my heart full when I read shop owner, Angelique’s, story. Top Vintage is committed to making women feel beautiful and strong, while wearing their high quality reproduction brands. The dress I’m featuring is an exclusive Vintage Chic for TopVintage. It is the 50s Layla Poppy Cross Over Dress in Black. I am just loving this one! It is the perfect blend of comfort and style. The print is gorgeous and I really like the fit. The dress features a fitted bodice with the cross over v-neck into two tie straps. You can style those ties however you like. The material does have a lot of stretch, so you may be able to size down in this one. The Layla style is available in several colors and you better be quick, they are selling fast! Let’s also talk about these amazing heels from Lola Ramona. These are the Angie in Love Heels! Wow, they are insane! I love the quirky style. The Angie in Love features bright red snakeskin embossed leather, on a peep toe sandal with a 4” heel. The front foot plateau makes it very comfortable to wear too. That is something very important with cute shoes! If they hurt to wear, it takes the fun out of it. I’ve always found that Lola Ramona heels are great! Look how cute the bow on the back of the heel is! This style is a must-have for your Spring and Summer wardrobe!

Angela Reign

Matt Brantley Band

As an award-winning artist in the rock, country, pop and EDM genres, Angela has headlined major venues across the globe and supported A-list artists on tour. In addition to her own headline concerts, Angela regularly provides entertainment for major sporting events (e.g., NCAA Final Four Championship, Chick Fil A Peach Bowl) and supports a number of benefit events each year for children’s organization, the military and organizations supporting medical research. Angela also performs the National Anthem or God Bless America at NFL, MLB, NBA, NASCAR, PBR and NCAA sporting events.

Hailing from the heart of Georgia, The Matt Brantley Band Is a country and southern rock experience that you won’t want to miss. The love they have for the music that they play and the fans that come to see them definitely shines through in each and every performance. You are guaranteed to have an amazing time at a MBB show. Matt Brantley (Lead vocals & rhythm guitar), Rowdy Hood (Lead guitar), Jesse Perkins (Bass) and Brayden Long (Drums). Since forming in 2013 the band has caused quite a stir in the south eastern music scene with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

GUIDE

Atomic Boogie Take a vintage Sun Rockabilly 45 RPM record and a classic Chess Blues 45 RPM record; apply enough musical heat to fuse them together into a toe tapping, body gyrating boogie explosion; and then you’ve got a band like Atomic Boogie! Taking their name from an eclectic 1950s radio show called The Atomic Boogie Hour, this rockin’ three piece band has been tearing up the Georgia club circuit for the past six years.

Half Pint Brawlers

Half Pint Brawlers is a live touring wrestling company and television series. The company is considered the craziest and also the top midget wrestling company in the country. Known for controversy and also for their hardcore wrestling style, they often use staple guns, thumb tacks, broken bottles, and barbed wire in their matches. Half Pint Brawlers had a fraternity kicked off of campus for one of their politically incorrect shows, and have been publically outspoken against any censorship of their product. Half Pint Brawlers is made up of Puppet, “The Psycho Dwarf”, who is the head operator of the company; wrestler, emcee, stage manager, and promoter. Little Kato, “The Dwarf Destroyer”, is the veteran of the group; notably, where he nearly dies in the very first television episode. Beautiful Bobby is Kato’s long-haired brother known for his high-flying style and being the ladies’ man of the group. In 2016 Puppet is opening up a new brand with the Half Pint Brawlers, which he is titling “The Half Pint Betties”. This is where he is going to bring in the “little” women wrestlers, which he states they are “Sexy, but Deadly” and then chuckles in amusement.

Jeremy Wayne Dean Singer/songwriter in Atlanta, GA, with an unique twist on folk, blues, and Americana. Jeremy Wayne Dean is a singer/songwriter out of Marietta,Ga. He draws his influence from the blues and folk music primarily. One man band at times, but a one man show for sure.

Back South - The Dirt Yard Choir BACK SOUTH is a trio from Asheville North Carolina. The bands sound is derived from the use of different homemade instruments with a focus on the cigar box guitar fashioned in the style of North Mississippi Diddley Bow. Back South bridges many southern music styles ranging from Bluegrass and Old Time with hints of Spiritual Gospel on the beat of Rock and Blues. The members of Back South are Todd Cecil: cigar box guitar/bass and songwriter - a Nashville music-scene transplant, Mike Fore: Harmonica - an uprooted Louisiana via Columbia SC transplant and Scott Harte: Drums, Washboard and Spoons - an Up-North Down-South transplant. Together the three make a monstrous sound and an entertaining mixture of music styles on the backbone of a driven Blues Rock beat. A performance and show not to be missed.

Kitty Rose and the Rattlers

Pearl Bottom Radio

Original Rockabilly from Atlanta. Southern-style original rockabilly and jump swing from songstress Kitty Rose. “What a Voice!” - Music Row Magazine, Nashville. “Your gonna make me sound like a little girl!” - Kris Kristofferson. “Kitty has moved from her country roots to the realm of rockabilly...life, liberty and the pursuit of Carl Perkins!” - Grease Inc.

Pearl Bottom Radio are an American rock band. Based just south of Atlanta, Ga, drawing influences from the likes of Kings Of Leon, Lucero, Queens of the Stone Age, and Sturgil Simpson, they have crafted their own brand of music that blends it all together. Playing shows and recording music as often as possible, Pearl Bottom Radio are already demoing new material for the next release. With 2 videos under their belt for “Knife Fight” and “Beer Song”, there is no sign of slowing down any time soon. If you like a good time, then this is your soundtrack.

The Rattlers: Kitty Rose - Bass & Lead Vocals; David O - Guitar & Backup Vocals; Matt The Crawfish - Tenor Sax, YV Boyd Drums & Style

GUIDE

Captain and Maybelle Captain and Maybelle have become household names. “A shock and a laugh is what you get from us! We are partners in crime and focused on taking over the world. Performing classic sideshow entertainment with a contemporary twist and delivering zingers and stingers is what we do best! You can call him a sword swallower, human blockhead or fire breather; I call him the mister. You just call me Maybelle; we’ll get along fine! You may have caught our act at Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, on “America’s Got Talent” Season 6, Six Flags Over Georgia’a Annual Fright Fest, “Atlanta & Co.”, “The Soup”, Coney Island’s Sideshows by the Seashore or a myriad of other equally impressive opportunities.”

Beitthemeans Bleeding crimson, and not afraid to return the favor, Seitthemeans returns with their signature sound. The three-piece from rural Sylacauga, Alabama bridges the gap between Southern Rock, and full blown bluesy chaos. Like a snake sheds its skin, Beitthemeans seem to reinvent themselves with every release. From their humble begi nnings, grinding it out in the dirty rock clubs of the South, to the monster they have become, the band knows what it means to fight for every scrap they earn. Singer/Guitarist Josh Jones, Drummer Nathan Kelly, and Bassist Casey Wilson have created a sound that most bands need an army to duplicate. Deep seeded in backwoods blues, Jones’ slide guitar screams almost as fiercely as his voice. All the while being backed by a rhythm section that rock music hasn’t seen since John Bonham shook loose his mortal coil.

SiK Stunts Riding dirt bikes starting at the age of 2 on a pw50, my Dad got me into riding at that time and I have loved it ever since. As I grew older I found myself doing nothing other then riding bikes in my free time with and without my Dad! So a hard time in my life hit me a few years ago when my Dad passed away and the only thing that seemed to put my mind at ease was getting on my bike and doing stunts. It brought back the happiness and makes life great. I couldn’t ever imagine not riding, I met Brian and he saw my potential and actually believed in me furthering my riding career.

Cold Heart Canyon Cold Heart Canyon defies the definitions of Americana and Bluegrass with real Ameripolitan music. They’re a group of urban outlaws in touch with their roots, presenting music in a way that is not for the faint of heart. Cold Heart Canyon are some instrument swapping, foot stomping, swearing sons of guns. Edgy, eclectic, and energetic, CHC takes a twisted stab at tradition with an added dark sound that’s raw and rowdy, yet refined.
