he “Dog Days of Summer” are here... The change is slow from the long summer day as we creep into another transition with fall around the corner. The skies seem alive! Summer harvests are plentiful and families are school bound with football set to kick off. Riding season and cruising will be at their peak over the next few months. Cooler nights provide a comfortable break in temperature while allowing our awesome machines to run smoother. This is the best time of the year! We are right around the corner from another great time with the crew at Grease Inc. and Garage71. This year’s Hell on Wheels has evolved into something special. We have partnered up with the Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett this year and are kicking off the Georgia Peach Day Festival. It is the same good times as years past, but with a meaningful statement attached. That is, that all children deserve the best and we are looking forward to do our part in supporting that dream! This is our 7th Anniversary party!!! We have a full schedule packed with entertainment, vendors from across the Southeast, and travelers from all parts of the country. For all the latest updates, go to www.hellonwheelsevent.com. Lastly, we have a lot of new additions we are working hard on for the end of the year, and already into 2016. It’s that time of year where we are focused on the close of a great season and winter planning. We have enjoyed so many memorable moments this year, with meeting new friends to life moments shared with old friends. In this issue, we share with you some of those moments in our “People and Places”. Though, you see just a glimpse of all the places the crew has been this year, imagine that we just marked a path and a trail for more to follow. Thank you to all our readers and supporters for these life experiences. We value all of you and look forward to sharing more with you soon!

In memory of

Mark Meyers

f you were once that kid or young adult who got excited to pack your bags for one of the best touring car shows in the USA... You attended the Nopi Nationals Motorsports #CarShow. That event was Co-Founded by Mark Meyers. On July 12, 2015 we lost this legend, mastermind, host, and my mentor.

Mark Meyers was the man with the master plan. He created a car show that traveled the U.S., involved all cars, bikes, ATVS, and wild cars from everyw make and model, and invited all auto enthusiasts to participate in the action! I still remember my first #NopiNationals event ... Do you? The bikini contest, the jello wrestling, and big name vendors with the sweet rides who all helped the show evolve into what I call the best car-show ever created!

26

The loss of my mentor was a shock and is still hard to digest because he was such a kind man. He would help you in any way he could when it came to the car scene or even as an employee. Mark was so dedicated to making the #Nopi Nationals a huge successful event after the recession. His goal was to carry on the legendary event and spread it from the East Coast to the West Coast once again, like the good old days! I remember having conversations

with him about what it takes to put on an event this size and it took ALOT of dedication, ALOT of personal time, and a STRONG heart that always looked forward, and never backwards, no matter how low the numbers of the past event ended. Mark always had a smile on his face and continued thinking of ways to improve and gain feedback from his employees and customers in order to create an AWESOME car-show series. After working with Mark for the past 4 years I was finally awarded a nickname that fit me well: Rickey Bobby AKA Rickey Smooth. It’s a nickname I will carry on because this man inspired me to continue to create and respect the car scene and to never give up. He kept fighting towards his dreams and provided something for all car enthusiasts alike! Mark also had the knowledge about cars that many probably didn't know he had. He was an encyclopedia for car parts, chassis numbers that belong to all vehicles, and he owned quite a few

vehicles. He owned a Lotus Elise a Datsun 280z and the Chrysler 300 SRT8 that lost its front bumper at the Orlando show after making an attempt to go off-roading at the racetrack... The good times! And those are only just a few of the cars he owned. During the time I knew Mark Meyers, I learned an abundant amount of information to bring with me as I continue to carry on the Nopi name, never lost nor forgotten. Mark gave it his all, recognized my potential, and rewarded me with acknowledgement, knowledge, and great a conversation that inspired us all! R.I.P Mark Meyers and thank you for the opportunity to participate in a legendary show. Please continue to have him and his family and friends in your prayers! Nopi (Number One Parts Inc.) Nationals show will be hosting a show July 2426, 2015 in Myrtle Beach at the Myrtle Beach Speedway. Please come out if you are close and join the event as we celebrate a great man and his vision! Respectfully Yours, Ricky Daily.

or quite some time now, we have wanted to create a column of interest for men that provided some great reading with history, facts and tidbits, myths, and guides for many “manly” ideas or trends. We thought hard on a name that fits and completes this concept and we came to the conclusion of Tonsorium. Now, for a proper introduction, tonsor is a Latin noun meaning “clipper” and the verb tondere meaning “to shear”. A Tonosurium is the location a barber, or a tonsorial artist, offers services.

31

Traditionally, services were offered to men, as barbers were trained to artfully shear men’s beards and clip their hair. Women, on the other hand, traditionally grew their hair long, and created ornate styles with braids, buns, and ring curls. During the “Roaring 20’s”, Flappers and other ladies partaking in a new freedom were encouraged to

shorten skirt length to the knee and to clip their hair to a “bob” at the neckline. Ladies needing this new short haircut filled the local barber shops, to the amazement of the barbers. Well, we won’t be offering any types of “services” here in Grease Inc., but we will cover topics from beard oils, pomades, moustache styles, hair styles, craft

pride and purpose. Family traditions and national holidays are more than just a long weekend where you cook over processed meats on a grill and blow things up. Now, don’t get us wrong, we love a great firework show, but we also stand behind what the firework show represents. s a lady, we are always striving to look good. We all want to be put together with our matching outfits and shoes, and we especially want our makeup to look flawless. Yes, some us like to “doll it up” more than others but have you ever really thought about how the ladies of the past would get all dolled up? In some cases, if you go back far enough, women would actually “dirty it up” by using mud and dirt from the ground. Today women use minerals and mud for cosmetics and beauty products, but centuries ago they would grind up bugs, coal, and in some countries use actual blood to stain their faces and lips.

We can learn how to contour our face to look smaller and enhance our eyes to look bigger; there are so many tricks of the trade to be learned.

Have you thought about what cosmetics are? Well, they are substances used to enhance ones appearance. We all want to enhance something. We look in the mirror many times a day and we want to make our outward appearance look flawless with the help of cosmetics or beauty creams and oils. We can learn how to contour our face to look smaller and enhance our eyes to look bigger; there are so many tricks of the trade to be learned. However, the cosmetic industry has come a long way over time.

38

Starting back over 4-5,000 years ago people would crush up gemstones and would apply these to their faces for decoration. They extracted dyes from plants and would mix in fish scales if they wanted their lipstick to have a shimmering effect ‌could you imagine how long it would take to get ready for work if we had to go catch a fish and scrape scales off to have shimmery lips or eyes! Not everyone believed in enhancing beauty with cosmetics. Actually, in the 19th century Queen Victoria said it was

improper and obscene to wear makeup. Some people also thought makeup was vulgar and only women of prostitution wore such things to enhance their beauty to lure men into their establishments. Even some religious communities thought wearing cosmetics was the devil's mask. So, as time has passed, the cosmetic industry has grown and made many improvements for us. In the early 1900s one the most well known brands, L’Oreal, was created. Its products were for upper class women who could afford such luxuries. As time passed and the importance of enhancing and transforming our looks with cosmetics grew, more brands and products emerged. Though we no longer have to worry about fish scaled lipstick, we now have lip primer, lip spackle, lip gloss, lip liner, and then finally we can apply the lipstick. This is the same for all other cosmetics; everything begins with a primer before you start the transformation. After all the makeup is applied and you are looking at your flawless reflection in the mirror, always remember that you are beautiful with or without the cosmetics.
