I n under 10 years Island Planet Sails

has gone from a part time business to an internationally recognized brand. Cruisers have sailed countless bluewater miles with our sails and our racing clientele have “brought home the silver or greatly improved their standings, particularly in ocean racing. Most of our business is repeat and referral, eliminating the need for expensive advertising. So how did this happen?

W h at

m a k e s a g o o d sa i l m a k e r ?

I t all starts with listening. There’s no mystery to what makes a great sail. It all starts with a sailmaker who listens to his or her customer carefully to determine the best solution. Then it boils down to the combination of Design, Materials, Specifications, and Finishing.

Design

s t r e n gt h

W e are fanatics about design. Our sail designer was one of the first to adopt design

software and we are passionate about sail design. So we ask a lot of questions. And our measurement worksheet asks for more details than other sailmakers. The end result is long term satisfaction.

Keeping

i t a f fo r da b l e

C ompromising the quality of our sails isn’t an option. So how do we consistently

provide the best values in the industry? How do we attract so many customers away from other fine sailmakers? The Island Planet Sails business model has resulted in a highly efficient cost structure and we build a surprising number of sails, sometimes with up to 30 sails in production simultaneously. Our superior business efficiency allows us to deliver more sail for your dollar, Euro, or pound.

I sland Planet Sails meet the highest

quality standards demanded by the most discriminating sailors. Our pledge is to keep it that way.

We

start with a good design and our designer has decades of practical sailing and designing experience and uses the latest design software to ensure you get the effect aerodynamic shape for your sails.

W e use the very best materials from

tightly woven Dacron to the exotic yarns like Vectran, Technora and Tetraneema.

O ur sails are engineered to craft you the very best sail for your sailing

plans be it a cross-cut dacron sail, a tri-radial laminate sail something as high tech as a loadpath membrane sail.

A s your sailmaker, it’s our responsibility to ensure you get the right

sails for your budget and sailing plans. It would be just as wrong to overbuild your sails for a few weekends on the lake as it would be to underbuild your sails if you were planning an offshore passage. With that in mind we offer a number of different product lines each having specific design features, fabric choices and engineering details tailored to suit your sailing needs.

T hese sails are ideal for most sailors,

those among us who love our boats and enjoy puttering around on them on the weekends. We sail on a regular basis, but we don’t sail hard. If there are storm warnings we stay on the mooring. We want good quality sails that are practical, affordable, easy to handle and east to trim and last for many years.

S ome sailors like to venture offshore;

not too far offshore and usually for just a day or so. Since you can’t always predict the weather there are times when you may get caught in a bit of breeze. Your sails need to be durable yet easy to manage, definitely easy to trim and most important of all, good quality sails at a fair price.

If

there is some distance sailing in your future you need our Bluewater Series. These sails are designed and engineered for those going offshore for a few days, or for a few weeks. Additional stitching, larger patches, anti-chafe protection, Spectra webbing for head and tack webbing loops and Tenara thread are just some of the engineering details incorporated into these affordable, long lasting sails.

there is no place for compromise in your vocabulary, then you need our Global Series. You are going places where sail repair facilities are nonexistent and you are spending long periods at sea to get there. These sails are high quality, durable, and manufactured with the very best fabrics and engineering details. They will hold together in the worst weather and hold their shape for many years. They are also affordable despite the amount of durability and longevity built into each sail.

Y ou know who you are. Your boat has

a little extra “furniture’ down below, your crew is not made up of hot-shots, but when that start gun fires you are all in. You measure the life of a sail by how long it holds it’s shape and not by how long it holds together. Most of all you want fast, quality sails engineered to win races season after season, and you want them to be affordable.

T here are those among us who put

winning above everything, both on land and on the water. Your sails are there to win races for you and if you have to replace them to keep on winning that’s a cost you are willing to pay. Our Grand Prix Series sails are manufactured from the very best load bearing yarns and engineered to build the lightest sail possible yet one that still holds it’s shape through a broad wind range.
