WELCOME FROM CANADA’S INNOVATION CORRIDOR BUSINESS COUNCIL

WHAT IS THE CORRIDOR SUMMIT?

“Canada’s Innovation Corridor is an incredible economic zone with a density of manufacturing and technology that represents a tremendous opportunity for Ontario and the entire country.”

Regional connectivity and collaboration fuel success in the modern global economy. Canada’s Innovation Corridor is anchored by the Greater Toronto & Hamilton Area (GTHA) and Waterloo regions – a high growth economic zone in Southern Ontario defined by a dense cluster of advanced manufacturing and technology firms. The long-term goal of the summit is to inform and drive transformational actions that shape the corridor’s future as a world-class region measured by talent, productivity and quality of life.

Jan De Silva, President & CEO of the Toronto Region Board of Trade, Co-Chair of Canada’s Innovation Corridor Business Council

Overview

“Canada’s Innovation Corridor supports companies and communities by strengthening collaboration among business, government and academia.” Ian McLean, President & CEO of the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, Co-Chair of Canada’s Innovation Corridor Business Council

“It’s about competitive advantage. Canada’s Innovation Corridor connects business communities in a way like no other. Together, we find synergies for local companies to shine on the world stage.” Todd Letts, President & CEO of the Brampton Region Board of Trade, Host for Canada’s Innovation Corridor Summit 2021

CANADA’S INNOVATION CORRIDOR BUSINESS COUNCIL

As a Corridor, we need to put our world-leading research and innovation into action so that our communities can scale for local, national and international commercial opportunities. Further progress will be driven by ensuring the right talent is in place for businesses across sectors (within the Corridor) over the next five years. Talent is needed for further research to be translated into commercial applications for business and governments and is the key driver to develop technologies, jobs and new companies. Canada’s Innovation Corridor Summit will explore the talent needed to fuel the Innovation Corridor. The need and desired outcome is an economic zone where companies have the people and talent for their businesses to achieve the tremendous opportunities and growth before us.
