Determining Must-Haves and Wants When starting the home searching process, you will want to determine your must-haves and wants. It is good to ask yourself what you absolutely need to feel happy with your home purchase.
Setting expectations at the beginning will help narrow down potential choices in the home search process. Your agent will help you set expectations and give you insight on where to start.

What to Expect
During Your Consult Your agent will go over the basics of where to begin. This could include getting a list of your must-haves and wants, determining your budget, potential purchase power, ideal locations, etc.
OneHome Start browsing homes! After meeting with an agent, you will have access to OneHome. This will act as a hub of homes out on the market that match your personal home search criteria. Such as location, square footage, number of bedrooms, etc.
Not only will OneHome show you a personalized search, but users will have access to a mortgage calculator, neighborhood scores, 360 virtual tours, and so much more!

ONCE YOU CLOSE
Where to Start
After Closing Congratulations! You're officially a new homeowner. Now that you own the home, where do you begin?
New Keys, New Locks It is recommended that once you have your keys, buyers should change the locks!
Set Up Utilities Prior to closing day, make sure to switch over utilities. If you are entering an HOA, it is good to determine what utilities you are responsible for. Common set-ups include Trash, sewer/water, electric, gas, recycling, etc.
Property Taxes Even if the property taxes were prorated between the seller and buyer, it is the homeowner's responsibility to pay them when due.
Update Your Address Make sure to update your address on all important accounts, payments, and driver's license. Change of Address Forms can help expedite the process.
Homestead When you Homestead, it can reduce the value of the home for state-tax.
