“Aye aye, Sir” is a phrase commonly heard in present day naval language. It is derived from the word ‘aye’ which come into the Elgish language in the late 16th century meaning ‘yes; even so’. There is a crucial distinction between the singular “aye, sir” and “aye aye, sir”. Hearing on order and not taking action, because you thought it was just a piece of information, could lead to disaster. Therefore, the singular “aye, sir” usually signifles agreement with the statement made. The reply “aye aye, sir” means “I understand the order and will carry them out”.
Captain Jameson von Greywolfe’s Rum Review - Bacoo, 12 year Rum That mischievous trickster is back with a 12 year expression of rum I previously had at Tybee Island in early October. Due to the fun and being around other like minded pirates I just couldn’t review it then and promised myself I would review it on a later date. Well that date is tonight, estate grown sugar cane produced aged and bottled on site in the Dominican Republic. This 80 proof rum h is sure to please the most complicated pallette. The 12 year I found at a few of the local establishments I shop at on occasion when the main store doesn’t have any new rum
to try. The price can range from 24 to 32 dollars depending on the establishment. This rum is comparable to Pampero Anniversario in the leather sack, in taste but sweeter. Dark deep amber in color, there is a thin I oily sheen that coats the inside of the snifter. The legs that slowly form only crawl down the glass as the alcohol evaporates from the 12 year spirit. Caramel, and dried tropical fruit were first noticed as the aroma drifts out of
the glass. Spices from bourbon soaked oak casks fills the breeze around where the glass sits. Upon entry an exotic blend of vanilla, caramel, raisin and spiced apricots full the mouth and leaves you wanting more. No one sip won’t do and be satisfied. There is a slight burn but only resides on the tip of the tongue, from there the rum has a texture that’s slippery smooth like drawn butter over lobster claws. This rum is nice and can be enjoyed as a sipping rum but also could be used for a structured tropical drink requiring a dark aged rum. Lacking my normal ginger ale ice mixed it with lemon juice and strawberry puree for a summer fresh strawberry daiquiri of which is quite refreshing. Tomorrow, walking in a parade, lunch, and putting up the Christmas tree are precedent but fear not another rum shall be tasted and reviewed. So keep your baldrics and hangers close, the ship the Grey Ghost will be back, with this good captain at the helm. Until then stay safe, stay alert, stay alive, and drink responsibly mates, who knows what I could find on the morrow for this review but another one will commence. Down the hatch.
Captain Jameson von Greywolfe

Katelyn Quaranta was born and raised in the city of Columbus, in 1990, where she still lives to this day. From what seemed to be fate from an early childhood becoming a mermaid was meant to, but there were some hurdles to get through. Through her growth of fines and time, she is now a successful mermaid.
the time “mermaiding” was not something she knew it was a thing. Ironically when learning how to swim she hated water touching her face, due to this she was concerted a terrible swimmer. Even thou she could tread water for hours; it became one skill that would keep her above water.
At an early age she was fascinated with mermaids, as many young children are. Yet at
In the late 2000’s the discovering of “Mermaiding” rekindled her love of performing in high school after coming across a video of Hannah Fraser (a popular mermaid performer). After finding out this was a thing and at the time she had been exploring scuba, she decided on making her own tail. She was a fish to water, as she picked up
swimming with the tail fairly quickly, learning how to swim in the monofin alone first, before taking on the whole tail. When it came to open water she loves both, but proffers the feel of open water. The natural water is much easier on the eyes over a long period of time, and then there is also the scenery and comfort of it all. With being natural water, it can be found to be ranging in temperature and currents that can change. She likes to use pools for modeling and training. Yet the chlorine is harsh on both her eyes and skin after long durations. The good part of the pools are being clement controlled. One of her tails is from SyrenStudios, a large red one, and her newest tail is the spellbound line from Mertailor. She could pick between the two which be her favorite, since both serve a different purposes. Her SyrenStudios tail is very large, and very heavy. It contains a finis competitor monofin. Because it has such a large, stiff, fin, it works better for open water swimming. The large fin gives a better kick and propulsion against currents. While her Mertailor spellbound tail is much smaller and lighter. The spellbound line does not contain a 3rd party monofin. Rather, the fluke is made of solid silicone. Because of this, the fluke is VERY floppy and agile. The Mertailor tail is for pool parties, modeling, and tank work. It is agile, and easier to move in small spaces, and because the fluke is silicone, it works around kids because they can’t accidentally break it. As she grew she started she started the Ohio Mermaids LLC back in 2015. As she puts it “it has been one heck of a ride! Running a business, esp. one that involves water and children can be tricky. I am lucky in that I am having an amazing group of women, all with their unique skills. Each one of my mermaids has their own personality, look, and approach to the craft, and because of this, we are able to offer clients a wide variety of options!”
Katelyn and her mermaids can be found at a range of events. Anywhere from pool parties, dry parties, renaissance festivals, fairs, modeling you name it. She is also known for going to birthday parties all over the state of Ohio. ” Being a professional mermaid and business owner is FAR more than owning a tail and doing the occasional party. I wish I could say that I was in the water all the time, but 99% of what I do is reply to emails, and a LOT of social networking. It’s chasing down leads on jobs, handling gig inquiries, audition requests, discussing options with the team on what we want to do as far as the company is concerned, and how we want to grow moving forward. Not only is my team amazing in the water—but we all work very well together as far as business logistics!” ~ Katelyn While working events she has two different personas pending on the event; one being “Disney esque”, the second one being an animalistic mermaid.
Katy Mermaid: is a more “Disney esque” mermaid. She speaks English, loves “land dogs” and learning new things about humans! She lives on land (mostly in bath tubs and backyard pools) and her human friends help her get around. She loves riding in cars—her human friends help her lay out in the back seat since her tail is too big! Katey grew up in Lake Erie just offshore from Cedar Point. She thoroughly enjoys sitting on the rocks and watch the roller coasters. She thinks they look like fun and is bummed that her tail is too big to fit on one. Kida: She was named after the Atlantean Queen (yes it’s a reference to Disney’s Atlantis). Kida mainly speaks mermish, which is a collection of sounds consisting of clicks and whistles, very similar to the sound of dolphins. This is due to the fact that those sounds travel better underwater than spoken language. However, Kida has been known to pick up human words from time to time. (her “human” language voice is very similar to Stitch from Lilo and Stitch).
Kida isn’t overly fond of humans, but she has a few favorites—including her human lover who is a pirate. Kida is over 200 years old, and also from Lake Erie. However, she is from the deeper basin, and is rumored to be responsible for several small boating accidents—she likes to harass fishermen. So if you ever find yourself at an event in Ohio or even the Michigan Renaissance Faire in Holly, keep your eyes open for this angel fish of the Lake Erie. As a wise sailor said, “They are mighty beautiful, but you must never touch”. We thank Katelyn for her time and we hope you all enjoyed learning about her

Entry 5 - Boston pt.II Journal of Bazel Clement Hopwood
Making our way out of the Green Dragon Tavern, the sun rose over the tops of the buildings. It was finally dawn and the day was far from over. “What is our next stop here in Boston?” I asked as I leaned on the edge of the cart. Anais looked at me then into the ledger. “Our next stop is not quite here in Boston, we have to travel north to Charlestown”. What in the world did she think we were, working mules to pull a cart that far and then back to the ship? A trip that I expected to take all day, walking to another town and back, was all but up the road it seemed; as though we didn’t go that far. We stopped at Warren Tavern, where once again we unloaded more stock. There was no stew waiting for us this time. What was waiting for us were barrels of Ale to be loaded in the cart. I looked at the barrels thinking how in the world we’d get those all the way back. There was no way I could lift them. That is when I witnessed Dueien crouch down, wrapping his arms around a barrel and lifting it up onto his shoulder. “It is all in the knees,” Dueien chuckled as he passed me heading out to the chart. He made it look so easy I thought it had to be empty and he was just messing with me. I bent down, wrapped my arms around the barrel and proceeded to left. I will admit I had to look like a fool as I stood my arm slipped over the barrel sending me flying backwards, with a hard landing on my back. I could hear the sound of barrel rolling on the edge with that moment of silences before landing back flat. But it did not land back flat. It landed on me, crushing things that I would never want to be. Knocking all forms of wind out of me, I looked as the room spun for Dueien. At that time Anais walked over, gripping the edge of the barrel and with a swift motion pulling it off me and leaning down she rolled it up her arm up to her shoulder. With a huff of air and rolling her eyes she walked out. I struggled to my feet to try again, by this time Dueien was back in to help me a little. I still had to look like a fool. I did not know what had to hurt more, that fact that I just had a barrel of ale defeat me or that a young lady made me look as weak as a newborn child. The only thing I thought was at least there weren’t any customers really paying any attention. After 10 barrels of ale were loaded into the small cart, Dueien took some rope from the corner of the cart and processed to secure the barrels to the cart.
As the sun rose higher, the streets seem to come alive. All walks of life pushed through the busy streets. At that point I had looked to see a man running that turned down an alleyway. I would have not thought too much of it, if it was not for Elise following shortly behind with her hood up. Then was it the Captain? At that moment a shadow moved across my face, was it the captain, too? It was falling them, but on the rooftops of the buildings! What was I seeing; this had to be all in my head. I must have hit my head when I fell back. Turning back towards the tavern in any hopes to forget what I might have saw, there was Anais looking up with a smirk “Oh it is going to one of these days” with a sigh to follow. “We better be getting back to the ship to load these on, you be pushing while he pulls” she ordered. The walk back to the ship fell much longer. Even with the cart being much heavier, what truly seemed to make the trip more difficult was the streets were full now. As we approached the docks, we were stopped by British Soldiers. Anais, reached into the ledger and pulled out a piece of paper, which looked like it had a trader’s seal on it. The two men walked around the cart looking it over then waved us on. I was not sure what they were looking for, but I only wanted to be back on the ship and out of Boston. Many of the others had already returned before us and fully unloaded. It did not take long before our cart was unloaded and stored away in the haul of the ship. Night had fallen over the busy town of Boston and yet Captain Wolf and Elise had not returned. The young lady of purple walked about passing out bread to the crew. When she stopped to hand me a piece, “What might your name be ma’am, I have been aboard this ship and still haven’t found out” I asked. She looked at me though her glasses and laughed a little “My name is Daniel Jackson”. With that she walked on to the next crew member. With a sound of whistle and “Captain and Elise is coming aboard” I looked up to see the two walking on deck. The captain stuck his arm up in the air and pointing straight up with his index finger, he motioned a circle. Without saying a word the crew sprung into motion. As he passed, in the dim light of the twilight I could see what looked like speckles of red on his cheeks. Quickly turning away, I took my bread and left to below deck and back to my cabin to where I should stay till morning comes.
