ALAYNA + DAYLON
Alayna + Daylon Taylor Garver Family Farm Market in Monroe garverfarmmarket.com
Alayna and Daylon Taylor, one of the dedicated couples behind the Garver Family Farm Market in Monroe, carry on a deep-rooted legacy. The 180-acre farm has been in their family for ve generations since 1926. The market itself opened in 1991 when Alayna’s parents, Mike and Suzy, started selling corn and tomatoes from a roadside table, eventually growing into the 12,000-squarefoot facility it is today.
“I appreciate the opportunity past generations of my family have allowed for us to still be here today, caring for the land and having a hand in feeding the world,” shares Alayna. Despite impressive new developments, the farm is committed to preserving agricultural heritage while adapting to modern needs. Its mission is to offer the community the best quality
products and foster strong relationships between consumers and farmers, ensuring a better and safer food supply.
The farm market is known for its exceptional and diverse offerings, which recently expanded to include a deli, specialty coffee, scratch-baked goods, and a wine bar for weekend tastings and events. Spring brings an array of homegrown owers, while fall features over 50 acres of pumpkins, including a pick-your-own patch.
Alayna’s favorites include a pistachio iced latte from the bakery, and the Darn Good Reuben with homemade corn chowder from the deli. Visitors are encouraged to relax and stay a while, as the family is often present to share their story and passion for farming. “I love working with the customers, but my true serenity is being out in the elds, just the soil and me,” says Alayna. Looking ahead, the farm is excited to host festivals and events — the annual Harvest Fest each fall is a highlight. When they aren’t busy on the farm, Daylon says the family enjoys local spots like State Street Coffee in Trenton, The Cone in West Chester, and the annual Butler County Fair.

David Uy, a passionate muralist and graphic designer, founded David Jonathan Creative in 2014 when he realized he could turn his graf ti-style art into a career. Growing up, he was always very artistic and loved to draw, but it was skateboarding that led him to discover
his love for graf ti and abstract art. He now creates what he calls “funky fresh street-art” for commercial, residential, and public spaces.
Drawing inspiration from elements like re or water, David’s designs are vibrant and lled with organic line work. He enjoys working with small businesses to bring new life to their space and creating pieces that can brighten someone’s day.
You can nd his work at local businesses around Butler County, like The Fringe Coffee House in Hamilton,

Christopher + Jessica Hayth
Crooked Dog Comics in Middletown crookeddogcomics.com
Retired air traf c controller Christopher Hayth had always dreamed of opening a comic book shop. So when the stars aligned and a space became available in downtown Middletown, Christopher and his wife, Jessica, wasted no time in bringing this dream to fruition.
Crooked Dog Comics, a name that pays tribute to their boxer pup, opened on Free Comic Book Day in 2024. Since then, Christopher and Jessica have enjoyed meeting every customer that has visited their shop.
With the help of Jessica’s mom, an electrician by trade, part of Crooked Dog Comics has been transformed into a medieval tavern
for Dungeons & Dragons adventurers. The immersive experience makes gamers feel like they’re playing in a classic pub in Scotland. The shop even hosts online gamers from across the country who want to meet face-toface and play DnD together.
Another unique feature of Crooked Dog Comics is their Silver Surfer statue — a rare score given there are fewer than 25 in the world. The surfer sits front and center at the shop for all to see.
Jessica and Christopher pride themselves on fostering community, often partnering with other Middletown businesses for trivia and game nights. As patrons, they frequent Gravel Road Brewing Company, N.E.W. Ales Brewing, The Slice Pie, and many other local businesses. Both are grateful for the support they’ve received and all the friendships they’ve made since opening Crooked Dog Comics.

LIZ
Liz Glover
Tiny Bistro in Fair eld facebook.com/tinybistroo
Liz Glover always had her sights set on opening a business within the food industry, particularly involving hot dogs. Her mother, a skilled cook, imparted all her culinary wisdom to Liz, recognizing her daughter’s early passion for food and encouraging her: “One day you’re going to open your own restaurant,” she’d say.
In 2021, Liz’s dream became reality with the opening of Tiny Bistro in Fair eld. The cozy restaurant exudes a true bistro atmosphere, complete with charming black and white
accents and the custom chef hat that Liz proudly wears.
Tiny Bistro offers unexpected surprises for visitors. Each hot dog is named after one of Liz’s grandchildren, re ecting their unique personalities. The six avors range from classic to spicy.
“If you order a Lauren and it’s plain Jane, that means she doesn’t like anything on her hot dog,” Liz explains.
Liz loves exploring the variety of attractions throughout Butler County, such as Voice of America MetroPark, where she can bring her grandkids and watch them play. She also frequents Liberty Center for the vibrant dining scene.
Since the beginning, Liz’s favorite part of running Tiny Bistro has been connecting with customers and hearing their stories. Known for her warm personality, Liz ensures every visitor feels welcome and receives top-notch service.
Mitch Dunn
The Pickle Lodge in West Chester thepicklelodge.com
Mitch Dunn’s journey into the world of pickleball began in 2018 when a friend introduced him to the sport, igniting a passion that would lead to the creation of The Pickle Lodge in West Chester.
“I was intrigued immediately by the social nature of the sport and the desire to learn something new,” says Mitch. He attributes pickleball’s growing
popularity to its inclusive and welcoming community, where new players are embraced regardless of their skill level.
“The sport has an addictive quality that is unparalleled,” he adds.
In 2020, Mitch met his business partner, and their shared vision quickly attracted like-minded teammates.
Today, The Pickle Lodge is the second largest indoor pickleball facility in the country with 17 indoor courts, Two Cities Pizza, a full bar featuring Third Eye Brewing Company, and meeting/event spaces. The facility also has six outdoor courts and a seating plaza for gatherings.
MITCH
“The most unique feature of the lodge is the pickleball community itself,” says Mitch. “We have been embraced warmly by both experienced players and newbies alike.” The Pickle Lodge is open to all, and you don’t even have to be a member to play. Anybody can give this popular sport a try for as little as $10.
Beyond the game, Mitch loves the lodge’s offerings from Two Cities Pizza and Third Eye Brewing Company — he recommends the Thyme Square pizza with a pint of Nirvana or Bust. He also enjoys spending time around the region, noting he is a big fan of the popular Butler County Donut Trail!

WWhen Lila isn’t spending her Saturday mornings playing baseball for the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League, she likes to keep her family on e move to many other inclusive spots throughout Bu er County.

PICTURED AND TOP LEFT:
is Flub’s Ice Cream.
Lila loves visiting the Hamilton Lane Library in German Village. This branch is walkable from her home, and she enjoys nding new books and participating in their young readers programming. Lila loves attending the library’s special activities and events, such as book readings by local authors, like Scott Smallwood, who wrote Monkey & Bug’s Night at the Corn Stand Jam
When asked about why she loves her library visits, Lila shares, “I love the craft kits they give you to take home!” Lila’s mom takes the opportunity to peruse the seed library and soak in some quiet moments to herself, while her dad looks for more books to add to his reading list. Friday nights throughout the year, Lila and her family love attending Fitton Family Fridays at The Fitton Center for Creative Arts These shows are shorter than most and feature performances of
new and classic stories. Re ecting on a previous performance, Lila exclaims, “The shows are so funny, and we get to dance along to a lot of them, and I learned how to act like a pirate!” She likes arriving early before each performance to have time to walk through the rotating art exhibits, especially when her older brother’s art is featured in the Badin High School exhibit.
One of Lila’s favorite outdoor spots is the Fair eld Township Community Park on Morris Road. Lila loves the play structure that includes fun slides and climbing areas. The park is large and open, allowing for a lot of imaginative play. Her parents appreciate that the ground is turf, so they can use the park even after it rains without getting muddy. Two shelters with picnic tables are also available if Lila needs to take a break, or get out of the sun to cool off.
Speaking of cooling off, Lila is an ice cream connoisseur and declares the greatest to be Flub’s Ice Cream “They have the best chocolate and vanilla mixed together,” she says. Conveniently, Flub’s has three locations and an ice cream truck that frequents local events. Whether she’s exploring Operation Pumpkin, the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Annual Car Show, or the Hamilton Flea, you can be sure she’s looking for the Flub’s ice cream truck — just don’t give her sprinkles, she’s not a fan!
