CLIMB A TREE

Guided tree climbs are available at eight of Metroparks Toledo’s 19 parks (Blue Creek, Farnsworth, Oak Openings Preserve, Pearson, Side Cut, Swan Creek Preserve, Toledo Botanical Garden and Wildwood Preserve). Take a one-and-ahalf-hour-long, fully structured tree-climbing course for up to 15 people. Participants are accompanied by an instructor and use provided gear like ropes and harnesses to climb. EXPERIENCE ART

Take an inspiring tour through the galleries at the Cincinnati Art Museum. The program takes 20 or fewer guests on a two-hour, immersive experience that includes up to three activities that inspire group problem-solving. They include an art-centric icebreaker, a team scavenger hunt, and a no-skill drawing activity, in which a partner must describe a work of art to another and have them re-create it. In November 2021, the National Restaurant Association released its What’s Hot 2022 Culinary Forecast, based on the opinions of members of the American Culinary Federation. Each of the 350 participants was asked to review and rank a list of 109 food items and culinary concepts across 12 categories identified by the Association and Technomic’s Menu Research and Insights Division. GLOBAL FLAVORS

Foods from different parts of the world scored high. Southeast Asian (Vietnamese, Singaporean, Filipino), South American (Argentinian, Brazilian, Chilean) and Caribbean (Puerto Rican, Cuban, Dominican) cuisines are the top three trends shaping menus.

SPICE IT UP

Gochujang — the savory, sweet and spicy red chili paste popular in Korean cuisine — topped the list of trends in condiments, sauces, spices and seasonings. Tajin, a Mexican spice made from salt, lime and peppers; and Harissa, a hot chili pepper paste that originated in Tunisia, rounded out the top three.

COMFORT FAVORITES

When it comes to appetizers, a few longtime comfort favorites made the list of trends for 2022, with upscale potato chips in new preparations and flavored with unexpected ingredients topping the list. New spins on chicken wings (such as flavor-fusion sauces and plant-based protein) and globally spiced fries also made the short list.

To-go meals are here to stay and, along with packaging that allows meals to travel intact and retain their temperature, the use of sustainable (reusable or recyclable) packaging topped the list of trends in this category.

The rustic Wells Barn can accommodate 250 people for a meal (more in a cocktail setting), while The Veridian can seat 130 people and offers access to a rooftop and outdoor garden space. KINGWOOD CENTER GARDENS

This historic garden estate in Mansfield provides a relaxing place for meetings year-round. The beauty of the 47-acre property complements the stately architecture of Kingwood Hall, built for Charles K. King in 1926. Book either the 120-capacity Carriage House or the 240-capacity King Ballroom. Tour the mansion or walk the grounds on a selfguided tour that allows attendees to learn about the property’s history while bonding with one another. THE WILDS

The Wilds, located just outside of Cumberland, offers the chance to explore one of North America’s largest wild animal conservation parks. The nonprofit safari park also hosts meetings of up to 50 participants at Straker Hall, which is equipped with both Wi-Fi and AV. There are a variety of ways to spend quality time with your participants. METROPARKS TOLEDO’S OAK OPENINGS LODGE

Metroparks Toledo’s Oak Openings Preserve Metropark covers 5,000 acres and is by far the largest of the regional park system’s 19 locations. It boasts a unique diversity of plant and animal life in natural habitats that range from oak savanna to vegetated sand to wetlands. The park’s Oak Openings Lodge offers a view of Swan Creek and meeting space for groups of up to 80 people. This lodge just outside Cambridge in Guernsey County can host meetings from as few as a dozen participants all the way up to 250 people. Consider Medina County, located in Northeast Ohio, to hold your organization’s next small conference or meeting. Near to the facilities are great attractions which make wonderful off-site programs or evening entertainment.

We have unique attractions like Castle Noel, America’s largest indoor holiday museum and entertainment complex, with a small meeting room and bar area. Scene 75 is a fun location for an evening with arcade games, indoor karting, laser tag, and much more! They have small meeting rooms, a bar, and permanent food trucks for meals. The Foundry Social has skeet ball, small pin bowling, pingpong, pool, cornhole, and a brewery on-site. If the group likes to golf,

we have first-class golf courses for a fun pre- or postconference day on the course.

Medina County offers unique locations for board meetings or other events including, Corkscrew Saloon with their vintage building or rustic fun at The Vintage Barn at Creekbend Ranch. We also have meeting facilities in the heart of our parks district for groups of 30 to 248, both indoor and out. Exhibit space is available at the Medina County Fairgrounds Community Center that can accommodate a small group to several thousand people.

Situated with easy highway access from I-71, I-76 and state routes 3, 18, 42 and 224, the county also offers two small airports and easy access to Cleveland Hopkins and AkronCanton airports for easy travel. Consider Medina County!
