Search for critters at Brunswick Lake City Park. Kids can spot turtles, frogs, wood ducks and mink in the park’s wetlands. Make sure to stop by the Susan Hambley Nature Center before you leave to learn more about the native fauna.

Follow the StoryWalk Trail at Carolyn Ludwig Mugrage Park (right). Kids will love dashing from one page to the next as they read a picture book spread along the paved trail. Round out your visit with the inclusive playground, where kids of all abilities can play to their hearts’ content.

Take in a winter wonderland at Plum Creek Park (right). Bundle up with all your winter gear to walk along 3 miles of trails, where you can marvel at snow-covered tree tops and two frozen ponds.

Bike along the Chippewa Rail Trail. Take in that nice weather as you pedal the 2.75-mile asphalt trail. Formerly a connection for the B&O main line, the trail journeys through lush wooded areas.

Golfing goals

WHETHER YOU’RE A GOLF PRO OR A CASUAL PLAYER, you’ll find plenty of options throughout the county to get you out on the green.

Ridge Top Golf Course has been a local favorite since 1961, offering a wellmaintained public course with 18 holes scattered across 6,241 yards of rolling hills. The course is open year-round, weather permitting, and the course’s friendly staff is dedicated to making sure that you enjoy your visit. Looking to plan a group event? Reach out to the Ridge Top team, who are happy to help you plan a golf outing in one of the course’s two venues.

Pine Valley Golf Club is another course with 60-plus years of history. Play underneath the cover of the mature trees that dot the grounds of the 18-hole course. As Wadsworth’s only hometown course, Pine Valley is dedicated to making sure you enjoy each round you play; recently, the club even added a fleet of 2023 GPS golf carts, complete with Bluetooth speakers, yardages of each hole and the ability to order food and drinks straight from the snack bar.

Breath in some fresh air as you tee off amidst the serene landscapes at Hinckley Hills Golf Course, a 6,500-yard championship course complete with a premier pro shop, a beverage and snack bar and an outdoor pavilion facility. Don’t miss the course’s five-hole Buzzard’s Nest — you can use it to add to the separate 18-hole course or to play a quick round if you’re short on time.

Weather won’t stop you from upping your game at Bunker Hill Golf Course; the course’s golf simulator gives you the chance to hone your skills in winter months, too. When it warms up, play Bunker Hill’s 18-hole course, which features fairways, ponds and creeks throughout the green. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, swing by The Bar and Grille at Bunker Hill to feast on burgers, flatbread pizzas and more.

Currently, there are more than one million veterans living in the State of Ohio and approximately 540,000 residing in the cemetery’s service area. The first three phases of construction, covering 90 acres of 430-acre cemetery, included 28,226 grave sites, 24,524 columbaria niches and 10,606 inground sites for cremated remains.

The cemetery also features a pathway that is lined with memorials that honor America’s veterans, which have been donated by various organizations. As of 2023, there were 152 memorials, most commemorating events and troops of 20th century war.
