In Frantz Park, Dublin’s iconic Field of Corn (with Osage Orange Trees) is a concrete art installation by artist Malcolm Cochran. These rows of 109 6-foot, 3-inch tall ears of corn symbolize the farming past of the region. The park’s Osage Orange trees served as Cochran’s inspiration in 1993 when he first
A short walk leads to the Scioto River, edged Riverside Crossing Park
Stroll the walking paths landscaped by green spaces, lush flower beds and water that flows down granite walls in modern-style fountains. Amphitheater steps and benches are hangout spots in this blend of city meets nature.
Dublin Link is an architectural beauty. With its feature reminiscent of a wishbone, the bridge is the longest span, single tower, S-shaped suspension bridge in the world. The view of the Scioto that flows beneath is just one reason for the on-foot trip between Bridge Park to historic Dublin.
Thanks to Dublin’s DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area), people 21 years of age and older can enjoy an alcoholic beverage while they sip and shop. Offerings include local breweries and restaurants, from fine dining to casual fare.

Each season is a reason to head to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. Over 10,000 animals representing 600 species, Adventure Cove, Zoombezi Bay waterpark, rides and magical events like Wildlights equal a day of adventure. Feed a giraffe, touch a stingray or watch a cheetah run at an animal encounter.
Outside Wendy’s Flagship restaurant, a statue of founder Dave Thomas pays tribute to the man who opened the first Wendy’s in 1969. Inside is a treasure trove of Wendy’s memorabilia and history, including an original uniform, cartoons, vintage advertisements and more.
The first weekend of August, the Dublin Irish Festival turns Coffman Park into a toe-tapping extravaganza of Irish entertainment, Irish food and Irish-inspired activities. A 5K run, step-dancing, whiskey tastings and a darts competition are included in the jam-packed schedule that pulls in more than 100,000 visitors a year.
Close by Columbus
Pair a Dublin visit with Columbus must-sees. The Ohio History Center is a trip through Ohio history from the prehistoric Mastodon to Adena culture to pop culture. The Columbus Museum of Art (left) will amaze, with a wide-ranging collection featuring global and local artists. COSI, the Center of Science and Industry, is a fun, hands-on lesson in physics, biology, life and earth sciences geared toward visitors of all ages. At the LEGOLAND Discovery Center, kids and adults can delight in creative play and entertainment with rides, 4D movies and favorite characters.
Dublin does it up every St. Patrick’s Day, one of many yearly events that brings people to town. In addition to the pancake breakfast and pub crawl, the focus of the day is the jubilant parade that snakes all through town. To continue the Irish festivities, the first weekend in August is the Dublin Irish Festival. This year’s will feature eight entertainment stages, dancing, food, cultural workshops and even a dart tent, all in Coffman Park. Crowds have gathered annually since 1976 for the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, an official PGA TOUR event founded by Jack Nicklaus and held at Muirfield Village Golf Club. Drivers of a different kind are drawn to the Arthritis Foundation Classic Auto Show, a weekend-long show that draws over 5,000 visitors to survey the antique cars and show off their own.
Lively Events & Quiet Escapes
The BesTOF
A visit to Dublin offers so many choices for recreation and dining — it’s got the best of both worlds no matter what you’re looking for.
by Ruth Corradi Beach
Those lively events are balanced by opportunities Dublin offers to those who want to get away from the crowds. Spend a day and then some exploring the parks and city via Dublin’s 150 miles of bike trails. On your ride, don’t miss Indian Run Falls Park. It’s got picnic shelters and viewing decks to take in the park’s beautiful waterfalls. For an escape that’s truly peaceful, Woodhouse Day Spa offers a wide menu of soothing, pampering options (meditative mood soak, anyone?). Speaking of menus, raise a toast to Dublin at the very chill, very chic, Coast Wine House, a wine-forward bar and bottle shop that hosts tastings in its airy, wood-rich space.

In the mood for a bite at a chic and upscale restaurant? Or one that has a more low-key vibe? Dublin’s got both. VASO Rooftop Lounge has delicious Spanish-style tapas, including Picar plates to nibble, tapas, small plates to sample, and the large Platas Para Compartir (like seafood paella) made to share. VASO also features gorgeous outdoor rooftop seating overlooking the Scioto River and private dining cabanas. Valentina’s is a fine Italian restaurant
Upscale Dining & Lowkey Eats
For low-key dining in Dublin, you can’t beat Frank and Carl’s, where you can grab My Friend Marc or My Dad Vern (cold turkey and bacon subs that include apricot jam or black pepper parmesan mayo, respectively) and bring the gang to Riverside Crossing Park, where amphitheater-style seating faces a modern water feature. Create the pizza of your dreams at Black Dog Pizzeria, where you can choose exactly the crust style, base sauce, toppings and after-bakes your heart desires, as well as a Pupperoni Cup (crispy pepperoni) for you and your canine companion to share. Finally, don’t miss Missing Jimmy’s (as in Hoffa), a restaurant from the folks behind the belove d Meatball Mafia food truck. James A. The Roosevelt Room
Bridge Park
The relatively new Bridge Park has a decidedly hip vibe. The upscale destination includes residential living, dining, shopping and attractions, including The Dublin Market at Bridge Park every Saturday morning from May to September. This farmers market offers local produce and locally made products alongside live music and tasty treats. Another market, North Market Bridge Park, is an indoor, bustling public food court with delicious foods from all over, including Lan Viet with Vietnamese cuisine, Hai Poké with Hawaiian-style sushi bowls and Bake Me Happy with gluten-free sweets. Grab some food and head to The Roosevelt Room, a craft cocktail bar that pays homage to Teddy Roosevelt (and his beloved mint julep) and encourages patrons to bring their own food. The young at heart will want to stop at 16-Bit Bar + Arcade, boasting 40-plus vintage arcade games and drinks named for 80s icons, like the Richie Rich, served with a Sugar Daddy lollipop garnish. When it comes to women’s clothing and accessories, Kins Collective offers a carefully curated mix for women of every style.

Historic Dublin
Historic Dublin, along the Scioto River, comprised the original Village of Dublin in 1810. It’s also home to terrific treats, including La Chatelaine French Bakery & Bistro, where everything is made daily, by hand, by the French family who owns it. Keep exploring France’s best at The French Store, specializing in new and vintage items including linens, home décor, candles and tea, all from France. Historic Dublin also is home to Tucci’s, an award-winning Italian steakhouse boasting more than 340 bottles in its wine inventory. No stop in Historic Dublin is complete without a trip to Johnson’s Real Ice Cream, with its impressive range of homemade ice cream flavors (vanilla, triple vanilla bean and vanilla chip).

Dublin’s storie D Past
Throughout its history, Dublin has been home to a diverse array of people; as the city has changed over the years, so too has its identity. By Kristina Smith
The Hopewell, a remarkably advanced ancient people, built ceremonial earthworks in the area, including those preserved in Ferris-Wright Park in Dublin. Ludwig Sells, a German immigrant, discovered the Dublin area in 1803 while surveying the Scioto River with his sons, one of whom officially founded the village in 1810. It was later platted and named by Irish immigrant John Shields, who found the area reminiscent of his hometown: Dublin, Ireland.
Former enslaved people moved to Dublin from Virginia in the 1830s and 1840s when they were freed and thrived as they owned and farmed their own land. In the 1880s, the town went through its “Wild West” years, when it became a popular stagecoach stop and booming limestone quarry area. A plethora of bars popped up, which spawned nefarious behavior.
“It was a pretty rowdy little town,” says Dublin Historical Society Past President and tour guide Clay Rose III. “They made the area dry for a while because there were so many fights and taverns.”
In the following decades, the town settled into a period of quiet farming and camaraderie. The 1970s, ’80s and ’90s marked an age
of growth, when Wendy’s moved its corporate offices there and golf legend Jack Nicklaus built his famed Muirfield golf course, which has hosted national and international tournaments. The city went from a small village to a metropolis of 50,000 people.
Dublin shares and celebrates this rich history with walking tours of Historic Dublin, the new historical society museum that opened in the heart of the district and preservation of sites, such as the Hopewell mound and Harris-Brown Cemetery that is the final resting place of former enslaved residents.
Historic buildings house unique businesses, such as the Dublin Barber Shoppe — the city’s oldest business, operating since 1938 in a
historic High Street building — and the former pharmacy and neighboring building on High Street that are being renovated for the future Apothecary Bourbon and Cigar Lounge and Uncorked Wine Tastings.
The tours begin at the Visit Dublin Visitor Center at 9 S. High St. and are led by guides from the Dublin History Museum. The museum, a two-story 1800s slate-blue home located at 35 S. High St., opened in October on the historical society’s 50th anniversary. It features exhibits that show what living in Dublin was like and how the city has changed.
“Any item that’s in here is going to tell a story,” says Mike Jewell, historical society president and descendant of Ludwig Sells, the German immigrant whose family founded Dublin. “We’ve got a great collection of old pictures and artifacts. We worked hard on trying to develop this timeline and the story and these growth stories.”
For the younger generations, the booming growth in the late 1900s is fascinating history.
“All that stuff that seems to be modern history, to them it’s not modern history,” says City
Dublin History Museum
Dublin Barber Shoppe
Councilwoman Amy Kramb, historical society volunteer. “It’s been fun to see how they see that era in history.”
Another must-visit historical site is the BrownHarris Cemetery, which Dublin dedicated last summer. This rediscovered cemetery, which dates to the 1850s, was the final resting place of the Harris and Brown families, some of whose members were enslaved in Virginia and freed when their owner died.
Like many family cemeteries of that time, it was lost when the land changed hands and farmers removed headstones and plowed over it, Kramb says.
Today, visitors can see a monument designed with the input of the Harris and Brown families — whose ancestors are buried there — and the preserved area.
“The city went above and beyond to make this a sacred place for them,” Kramb says. “It was moving to see how thankful — especially the older generations — they were that we preserved it for them.”

MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT TA k E IN T h E
By Will Wagner
the Memorial Tournament
Let the celebration begin! The Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, the pride of Dublin and one of the most prestigious events on the PGA TOUR, celebrates its 50th playing this year.
Tournament week runs from May 26 to June 1 at the renowned Muirfield Village Golf Club, but the marquee event will include much more than world-class golf. Virtually everywhere you go in Dublin, you’ll see signs of the Tournament, from community awareness pieces like the life-size golf balls displayed around town to interactive golf themed activities throughout the Dublin area. In no uncertain terms, golf is in the air. Golf fans and music aficionados alike can enjoy Fore!Fest, a street and music festival in Bridge Park that began in 2018. This year’s Fore!Fest will take place on May 30 and 31 and continue to offer a full slate of bands alongside food trucks serving up a variety of tasty offerings.
If you’re looking for some Memorial Tournament themed physical activity, you can run or walk in the Tournament’s FORE! Miler on May 22, a 4-mile race that ends on the 18th green at Muirfield Village Golf Club. Afterward, you can join fellow participants in a post-race party before heading to your favorite restaurants around Dublin.
Patrons attending the Memorial Tournament can enjoy a number of activities and fan destinations in addition to watching the best golfers on the PGA TOUR compete for the Memorial Tournament title and a coveted
handshake from tournament founder and host, Jack Nicklaus. The Columbus native began the Memorial Tournament in 1976 and over his five-plus-decade playing career, Nicklaus became the most recognizable figure in golf, winning 120 professional tournaments worldwide, including a record 18 major championships. Yet he’s particularly proud of the Memorial Tournament, which has produced more memorable moments than can be counted. Nicklaus even won the Memorial twice, in 1977 and 1984.
It’s fitting that the First Lady of Golf, Barbara Nicklaus, was named the Honoree of the 2025 Memorial for its 50th playing. Together with Jack, Barbara has helped to raise millions of dollars for charities over the years — and true to the heart of the Nicklauses, the Memorial Tournament has always been most beloved locally for its genuine philanthropic focus.
Says Jack of his wife of 64 years, “I am so delighted and so happy, and I’m so proud of her. She’s done so much for so many, and for 50 years here at Muirfield Village Golf Club, she has contributed so much and has had very little recognition.”
Indeed, there will be much to celebrate in Dublin come May.

ART TO
Starting on the grounds of the Dublin Arts Council, Dwelling: A Snail’s Journey is one of the program’s newest additions. The three enormous snail sculptures will travel to various locations across Dublin, so make sure you catch them on their next stop — and don’t forget to check out Tree of Life, Future Tense, an intricately designed sculpture that envelops a red oak tree outside the Dublin Arts Council building.
Find more nature-inspired artwork throughout Dublin, including Exuvia — a series of sculptures at Coffman Park created to resemble cicadas crawling up tree branches — and Feather Point, a 20-foot, stainless-steel feather sculpture that reflects the patterns of local trees while also offering tribute to the artist’s native country of Poland. The Boat in the Field at M.L. “Red” Trabue Nature Reserve is another piece that will ignite your imagination: at 25 feet tall, the stone structure of the boat appears to defy gravity.
Finally, whether you’re a visitor or a long-time resident of Dublin, you won’t want to miss Field of Corn (with Osage Orange Trees)
This iconic Dublin installation, which features 109 human-sized, concrete ears of corn, has received multiple awards that declare it the best public artwork in central Ohio. Another staple of the public art program, Leatherlips was the program’s first project. Paying homage to Dublin’s history, the limestone statue depicts the Wyandot leader who lived near the area during the 18th century, and it has stood as a source of pride in Dublin’s Scioto Park since 1990.
