GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION This show is a regular member of the United States Equestrian Federation. Every class offered herein is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF rule book and will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith.
ENTRIES: Entries close September 4, 2018 for the Great Southwest Fall Classic. New entries (new or different horses) made after these dates will incur a one time late fee of $60.00. Every Entry Blank must have the signature of the owner/authorized agent, trainer & be accompanied by a stall check, open check or valid credit card information. It is the responsibility of the person making the entry to execute properly and complete all necessary information pertaining to each entry made in accordance with USEF rules. NO NUMBERS WILL BE ISSUED WITHOUT AN OPEN CHECK OR VALID CREDIT CARD INFORMATION. There will be a $60.00 office/services fee for every horse on the show grounds. Management reserves the right to refuse any entry for any reason. Horses, on the grounds, not entered in any classes, must have a completed entry blank on file in the office and will be charged a $100 non-showing fee per week. Horses not accruing a minimum of $100 in entry fees may be charged the non-showing fee in lieu of entry fees. *Warning: Horses that compete in a class in which they are not properly entered will be charged a double entry fee. Once a horse has competed in the first class of a National “A” rated hunter section the division entry fee cannot be refunded. *Attention foreign exhibitors: All fees MUST be paid in “US Funds”.

Horses entering the grounds must be accompanied by documentation of Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinations within six months prior to entering the stables. Horses not in compliance with this rule may be required to leave the competition grounds upon request by Competition Management. Documentation should consist of one of the following methods mentioned below. The frequency of vaccine administration should be per the vaccine manufacturers’ or veterinarian’s recommendations. It is recommended that vaccines are administered by or under the direction of a veterinarian. In the case of vaccines administered by a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide documentation from the veterinarian on documenting that the horse in question received the vaccinations; name of the vaccines and date of vaccine administration. In the case of vaccines administered by a person other than a veterinarian, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a receipt of the vaccine purchase which is signed by the owner, or agent with care, custody, and control of the horse; name, serial number and expiration date of the vaccine; and date of vaccine administration. In the case of a horse that is unable to receive either of the vaccinations due to a history of adverse reactions, the exhibitor, upon request by Competition Management, must provide a letter from the veterinarian on official letterhead stating that the horse in question cannot be vaccinated due to medical concerns and a log of temperatures taken twice daily for the seven days prior to entering the competition grounds. These horses must also have their temperature taken and logged twice daily while on the competition grounds. The log of temperatures should be provided to the Competition Management, steward, or technical delegate when requested.
COGGINS TEST: Texas law requires that each horse be accompanied by a negative EIA certificate dated within one year. PLEASE ATTACH A COPY OF YOUR HORSES’ COGGINS TO YOUR ENTRY.
STALLS: Permanent and temporary stabling will be available at a cost of $200 per week. Ship-ins will be charged a $55 ground/clean up fee per horse per day. Stalls will be available for move-in on Monday, September 24, 2018 unless prior arrangements are made. 12x12 and 10 X 10 permanent stalls (with doors) are available. Stalls must be returned to GSEC in the same condition upon move-in. All nails, hooks, etc. must be removed from stalls upon move-out. No sharing of stalls allowed. Each horse will be charged either a stall fee or a grounds fee. Shavings and feed are available for purchase on show grounds between 7am -5pm. NO outside Shavings Permitted. Violators will be charged $100 per stall.
REFUNDS: STALL FEES CANNOT BE REFUNDED AFTER SEPTEMBER 4. Entry fees will not be refunded after September 4 unless a certificate of illness or injury prepared by an accredited veterinarian, or a doctor’s note regarding rider illness/injury, is presented to the secretary before the start of the show. Once the show has started, proper notification of the scratch must be made in the office BEFORE the start of the classes being scratched. In either case the entry fees will be refunded less any nominating fees, stall fee, and an office processing charge of $60.00.
GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION NON-NEGOTIABLE CHECKS: A $50.00 SERVICE FEE OR 10% OF THE CHECK AMOUNT/CREDIT CARD CHARGE, WHICHEVER IS GREATER, WILL BE CHARGED FOR ALL RETURNED CHECKS AND/OR DECLINED CREDIT CARDS. Accounts that are not settled within five days with certified funds will be reported to USEF in accordance with USEF Rules.
SETTLEMENT OF ACCOUNTS: All show accounts must be closed out at the end of each week. Any open entry accounts will be closed by management and a $60 processing fee will be added per entry. All questions about show accounts must be addressed within 48 hours of the conclusion of the show. Any mistakes or questions regarding your horse show account and/or prize money must be resolved within 48 hours by contacting the Horse Show Office. FOR CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS PLEASE NOTE: You MUST have your credit card present at check out.
CREDENTIALS: ALL EXHIBITORS IN ANY PONY, PONY EQUITATION, JUNIOR HUNTER OR AMATEUR SECTION MUST PRESENT THEIR CREDENTIALS (MEASUREMENT CARD OR AMATEUR CERTIFICATION) TO THE SHOW OFFICE BEFORE THEIR NUMBERS CAN BE RELEASED. Kindly send a photo copy of credentials with entry to facilitate processing. All horses or ponies without a valid measurement card will be measured at a designated time and place. Anyone not presenting valid membership credentials (USEF/USHJA) will have to fill out a USEF/USHJA Show Pass form and will be charged a $30.00 non-refundable show pass fee for USHJA and $45.00 non-refundable show pass fee for USEF. Amateur exhibitors must present valid Amateur Credentials. Only a parent will be exempt from the Federation non-member fee if signing as coach for his/her minor child.
HORSE REGISTRATIONS: All horses competing in Federation non-breed restricted licensed competitions with hunter, hunter breeding, jumper and hunter seat equitation classes (except those activities enumerated in GR901.9, items 1-9) must be properly identified and must obtain a Registration Number from USHJA. A registration number for each horse must be entered on all entry forms for licensed competitions. Proof of registration must be presented to the Show Secretary before numbers can be released. To be eligible for National, Regional or Zone Horse of the Year Awards, and to enter a USEF Computer Ranking List Class horses must also be registered with the USEF. Exception for USEF Computer Ranking List: Citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation need not have USEF Registration.
USEF/USHJA FEES: Current USEF rules relating to drugs and medications will be enforced. Each horse entered must pay the $15.00 USEF Drug/Medication Fee plus an $8.00 USEF fee. Each horse entered will also be required to pay the USHJA Fee of $7.00. (Total USEF/USHJA Fees $30.00).
ADDS/SCRATCHES: ALL ADDS MUST BE COMPLETED IN THE SHOW OFFICE NO LATER THAN 5:00pm THE DAY PRIOR TO THE CLASS. No Same Day Adds will be accepted. Scratches will be accepted at any time prior to the start of the class – Scratch Fee may apply. Any scratches in the Derby after 5:00pm the night prior to the Class will incur a $35 Scratch Fee.
HORSE/PONY MEASURMENTS: Please advise the show office of any horses and/or ponies requiring measurement. Any horse/pony that cannot present a valid measurement card will be required to present themselves for measurement at the time/times posted in the show office.
SCHOOLING: Hunter Rings will be open for schooling on the day prior to the show. Time permitting, rings may also be open before and after the show, each day, for hacking, times to be posted or announced. No manual poling; no offsets of any type may be used while schooling. Jumping will be permitted, in the rings, at scheduled times and only when medical personnel are on the grounds. HARD HATS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHILE MOUNTED.
ANIMAL WELFARE: We require that all horses be treated with kindness, respect and compassion and should never be subject to mistreatment. Owners, trainers, riders and grooms, or their agents must use reasonable care in the handling and treatment of their horses whether owned or placed in their care for competition or for any other purpose. At all times, while the horse is on the show grounds, we will provide for the continuous well-being of the horse by vigorously enforcing the rules of the USEF which pertain to the welfare of the horse. USEF rules defining policy regarding abuse and use of whips will be strictly enforced. No poling, use of bamboo off-set or excessive use of the whip will be tolerated. The well being of the horse must be considered above the demands of the breeders, trainers, riders, owners, dealers, organizers, sponsors or officials. Violators may be subject to penalties pursuant to USEF rules. In the event of an acute and serious injury to or illness of a horse on competition grounds when the owner or trainer of the horse or agent of the owner is not present, after reasonable effort to contact that individual has been made, competition management, in consultation with a licensed equine veterinarian, may authorize the provision of emergency veterinary treatment of the horse. If competition management so authorizes treatment under the provisions of this rule, competition management and veterinarian are not liable for any resulting costs, damages, losses, claims or actions arising directly or indirectly from the treatment of the horse.
GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION DOGS: Dogs are not permitted to be loose on competition grounds and must be on a leash or otherwise contained. Individuals must not lead dogs on a leash while mounted. Dog owners are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from their dogs’ behaviors. Dog owners failing to comply with this rule may be subject to penalty under Chapters 6 and 7, as well as issuance of warning cards pursuant to rule GR 301. In addition, pursuant to facility regulations. Loose dogs will be removed by animal control, from the show grounds, at the owner’s expense.
CHANGES: Management reserves the right to change, cancel, or combine classes, alter courses and do all things necessary to compensate for excessive or inadequate entries.
ATTIRE/HEADGEAR: All riders must be properly attired. Protective head gear must be worn BY ALL RIDERS AT ALL TIMES WHILE MOUNTED, anywhere, anytime on the show grounds. Headgear for all riders must meet or exceed ASTM Standards; must carry the SEI tag; and be properly secured by a harness .
JUMPERS: Ties in jumper classes will jump off for first place only. Ties for all other places will be determined by first round time. Champion and Reserve will be determined using the USEF Bonus Point system. Bonus Points will apply to the class indicated for each section.
NOMINATING FEE: Horses competing in all 1.25 Meter classes, and above, must pay a nominating fee of $150. RINGS/FOOTING: Outside ESI Ring is approximately 140’ x 275’ with ESI Footing. Outside Mega Ring I & II are approximately 145’ x 265’ with ESI Footing. Tellepsen Arena is approximately 150’ x 250’ with Sandy Loam Footing. Main Indoor arena is 150’ x 300’ with Sandy Loam Footing. Footing is a priority; rings may be closed to schooling during inclement weather and/or for maintenance at any time during the show at the manager’s discretion.
JUMP ORDER: Show Management will determine a rotating jump order for all classes over fences. Riders or Trainers with conflicts must see the paddock masters in both rings so that the necessary adjustments can be made. Starters have the authority to scratch entries that make no attempt to be timely, without going through the Steward or Show Manager.
COURSES: Courses will be posted a minimum of one hour prior to each class. In Hunter classes, fences will simulate fences found in the hunt field such as; brush, wall, in & out, oxer, post and rails, and gates. At management’s discretion, a dotted line may be put into effect to restrict the size of the courtesy circle in hunter classes.
RIBBONS/TROPHIES/CHAMPIONSHIPS: All hunter classes receive a trophy and eight ribbons unless otherwise noted. All equitation classes receive a trophy and six ribbons unless otherwise noted. All jumper classes receive a trophy and six ribbons unless otherwise noted. Each hunter and jumper section will receive a champion & reserve award based on points unless otherwise noted. Full Championship points will be given in all classes in each hunter section except Green Conformation Hunter Model which will count as half points. In all hunter sections, Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded to two of the top four horses acquiring the most points over fences. These four horses will also receive full points for one under saddle class.
PRIZES: Prize money is indicated for each class. Prize money won can be paid by check or deducted from each horses account. An IRS W-9 form must be completed in full before any prize money exceeding $600 can be paid. Prize money will be withheld if the recipients Social Security number or EIN number is not on file. Prize money will be payable to the owner unless written authorization, and complete alternate payee information, is on file with the show secretary. All prize money will be paid within 30 days of the shows’ conclusion.
CAMPERS: Camper spaces are available for $225 per week in spaces 34-96. The Premier camper spaces are available for $250 per week in spaces 1-30. One Pump-out per week is included. Anyone needing additional pump-outs will incur an additional charge.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO: From time to time, events at this facility are taped or produced for live and/or delayed broadcast on National Television. The copyrights of any video production at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center remain the property of the Great Southwest Equestrian Center. No portion of any event may be copied, sold or rebroadcast (except non-economic use by the event participants) without the express written consent of the Great Southwest Equestrian Center - Katy, TX. All copyrights are reserved under the Federal Copyright Laws of The United States.
PHOTO RELEASE: By signing the entry form, I agree to waive the right to the use of my photos/videos at the competition and grant Great Southwest Equestrian Center and its agent’s full use of any and all competition photos and video.
GENERAL RULES AND INFORMATION
COMPETITION NUMBERS: OFFICE ISSUED NUMBERS must be worn in the competition rings. RINGSIDE AMENITIES FEE: This $40 fee includes the cost of show ring scoreboards & scoreboard operators, horse show app lease & daily uploads, live streaming & display monitors for ringside instant replay. Main rings are equipped with scoreboards. The show app allows you to have all the updated information for the week at your fingertips. Grand Prixs and International Derbys will be live streamed @ www.JK-videography.com. All rings are equipped with an outdoor monitor to view an instant replay of your completed round. The $40 fee includes online viewing of the entire show including your rounds for the duration of the horse show. Video downloads are subjected to additional fees. The $40 fee is limited to two charges per owner/leasee per show. OPERATION OF MOTORIZED VEHICLES: Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of recognized competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described vehicles so long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.
RESPONSIBILITY: Submission of entry to this show constitutes an agreement to the following: Exhibitor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Great Southwest Equestrian Center, Great Southwest Fall Classic Horse Show, officials against any claims, demands, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorney fees for the defense thereof, arising from the conduct or management of Exhibitor’s business or its use of the premises or from any breach on the part of the Exhibitor of any conditions of this Agreement, or contractors, agents, employees, guests or invitees in or about the premises. In case of any action or proceeding brought against Great Southwest Equestrian Center, Great Southwest Fall Classic Horse Show management by reason of such claim Exhibitor, upon notice, covenants to defend such action or proceeding by council acceptable to owner. Exhibitor is responsible for his/her own property and Great Southwest Equestrian Center, Great Southwest Fall Classic Horse Show Management are not responsible for accidents, fire or theft.

ALL items of this nature MUST be disposed of in the provided containers. NO SHARPS are to be disposed of in any receptacle other than the provided sharps container. Any individual or entity not in compliance will be subject to a $100 fine per USEF 1210.4

THJA RECOGNITION The Great Southwest Fall Classic Horse Show is operated in accordance with the current rules of the Texas Hunter and Jumper Association by which they are recognized and rated “A” in High Performance Conformation, High Performance Hunter, Performance Hunters 3’3” and 3’6”, Green Conformation 3’6”, Green Hunter 3’, Green Hunter 3’3”, Green Hunter 3’6”, Green Hunter 3’9”, Amateur Owner Hunters 3’3” and 3’6”, Pony, Green Pony, Junior Hunters 3’3” and 3’6”, Children’s Pony, Children’s and Adult Hunter, Modified Adult and Modified Children’s Hunter, and JR/AO, Children’s, Adult Jumper. Points for placing in Junior, Children’s, Pony and Adult Equitation and Hunter Breeding will be credited in in accordance with the rules of THJA.
MEMBERSHIP & ENTRY AGREEMENTS US EQUESTRIAN FEDERATION MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 show pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes.

(the “Federation”) and the local rules of the competitions listed herein. I agree to be bound by the Bylaws and Rules of the Federation and of the competition. I will accept as final the decision of the Hearing Committee on any question arising under the Rules, and agree to release and hold harmless the competition, the Federation, their officials, directors and employees for any action taken under the Rules. I represent that I am eligible to enter and/or participate under the Rules, and every horse I am entering is eligible as entered. I also agree that as a condition of and in consideration of acceptance of entry, the Federation and/or the Competition may use or assign photographs, videos, audios, cable - casts, broadcasts, internet, film, new media or other likenesses of me and my horse taken during the course of the competition for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the competition, sport, or the Federation. To be shown over a course of not less than six obstacles. Two tests (1-9) are required during the first round. Only one rider per pony. To fill a class six competitors must complete the course.
514 ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship

Open to Junior patrons of the ASPCA who are under 18 years of age. Rider and trainer must be members of the ASPCA/NHSAA, and must show their ASPCA numbers on the entry blank. All contestants are required to perform over at least eight fences at 3’6”. Twelve (12) riders, if available, are required to show at the walk, trot and canter. Flat to count 50%. Only one rider per horse. To fill the class three competitors must complete the course.
515 WIHS Pony Equitation (USEF Measurement Cards Required)

To be shown over a course of not less than six (6) obstacles at standard pony heights. Riders may be asked to return to show at the walk, trot and canter and to perform any additional tests at the judges’ discretion.
516 WIHS Tad Coffin Performance Saddles Equitation Each phase to be conducted under their own specifications and pinned separately, as well as an overall placing. Conventional tack per USEF JP 110. Only running martingales used in the conventional manner are permitted in the Jumper Phase. Both Hunter & Jumper Phases to be scored under the Numerical System in the first round. Scores from each phase will be added together to determine the overall winner.

To be shown over a minimum of 10 jumps at 1.10m. A minimum of two double or one triple combination are required. There must be at least two changes of direction after the first fence. In addition, at least two of the following are required and more are recommended: vertical – no ground lines; Liverpool; narrow jump – minimum width 8’; one or more of the following – triple bar, swedish oxer, fan jump. A Time Allowed will be used based on a speed of 360 yards per minute. The judge will give a numerical score for each competitor’s round. The announcer will announce the judge’s numerical score and then deduct time faults as follows: one point for each commenced second over the Time Allowed. Management may elect to hold the Jumper Phase as a Table II, 1.2c (Power & Speed) competition, in which case the Time Allowed will apply only in the “speed” phase and must be computed at 382 yards per minute. Further testing will be optional; USEF tests 1-19.
517 USHJA 3’3” Jumping Seat Medal

Open to Junior Active members of the Federation and USHJA who have not reached their 18 th birthday (per USEF rules). There are no cross entry restrictions. This class will be held in a jumper ring with fences at 3’3”. See USEF rule: EQ110.13.
518 Taylor Harris National Children’s Medal

Open to Junior members of the USEF and Equine Canada who have never competed in a National Equitation Final with fences at 3’6”. To be shown over a minimum of eight fences 2’9” to 3’ in height, spread not to exceed fence height. The top four riders are required to perform at least two individual tests from USEF EQ 112 Tests 1-19.
519 TEC Adult Medal

Open to all Amateur members of USEF and Equine Canada who are eligible to compete in the Amateur Hunter Section at this show (based on the USHJA Zone specifications for the shows location). Open to horses of any age that are eligible to compete as a Green Hunter 3’ or 3’3” under Federation rules. Horses must be enrolled in the USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Program and pay the annual enrollment fee to participate in the Green Hunter Stake classes and to be eligible for the Green Hunter Championship. Additionally, horses must be registered with USHJA and recorded with USEF to participate. Horses must be enrolled in the Green Hunter Incentive Program prior to competiting in a Green Hunter class. Only horses appearing on the enrolled list located at www.ushja.org are eligible to compete in a Green Hunter Stake class. Horses may only be enrolled online. If a horse is enrolled during a competition, the horse’s enrollment date will be considered the first day of the competition at which it was enrolled. The order of go will be posted a minimum of one (1) hour prior to the start of the class. Horses entered in the class will not jog for soundness. During the two phases of the class, all horses entered must have their numbers clearly visible and be ridden only in the designated National Hunter Derby warm up area. This includes horses entered simultaneously in another class. Round 1 to be shown over a hunter classic type course consisting of a minimum of 10 obstacles designed to simulate those reminiscent of the hunt field. To include 4 option jumps set 3’5”. USEF Fee (Drug & Medication $15/USEF $8) I AGREE in consideration for my participation in The Great Southwest Fall Classic, to the following: I AGREE that the "Federation" and "Competition" as used above includes all of their officials, officers, directors, employees, agents, personnel, volunteers and affiliated organizations. USHJA Fee @ $7 I AGREE that I choose to participate voluntarily in the Competition with my horse, as a rider, driver, handler, vaulter, longeur, lessee, owner, agent, coach, trainer, or as parent or guardian of a junior USEF Non-Member Show Pass $45 exhibitor. I am fully aware and acknowledge that horse sports and the Competition involve inherent dangerous risks of accident, loss, and serious bodily injury including broken bones, head injuries, trauma, pain, suffering, or death. (“Harm”). USHJA Non-Member Show Pass $30 I AGREE to hold harmless and release the Federation and the Competition from all claims for money damages or otherwise for any Harm to me or my horse and for any Harm of any nature caused by me Nominating Fee $150 or my horse to others, even if the Harm arises or results, directly or indirectly, from the negligence of the Federation or the Competition. NON-SHOWING FEE $100 I AGREE to expressly assume all risks of Harm to me or my horse, including Harm resulting from the negligence of the Federation or the Competition. I AGREE to indemnify (that is, to pay any losses, damages, or costs incurred by) the Federation and the Competition and to hold them harmless with respect to claims for Harm to me or my horse, and for GROUNDS FEE $55/horse/day claims made by others for any Harm caused by me or my horse while at the Competition. I have read the Federation Rules about protective equipment, including GR801 and, if applicable, EV114, and I LATE FEE $60 understand that I am entitled to wear protective equipment without penalty, and I acknowledge that the Federation strongly encourages me to do so while WARNING that no protective equipment can guard against all injuries. If I am a parent or guardian of a junior exhibitor, I consent to the child’s participation and AGREE to all of the above provisions and AGREE to assume all of the obligations of this OFFICE FEE $60 Release on the child’s behalf. I represent that I have the requisite training, coaching and abilities to safely compete in this competition. RING SIDE AMENITIES FEE $40 I AGREE that if I am injured at this competition, the medical personnel treating my injuries may provide information on my injury and treatment to the Federation on the official USEF accident/injury report form. TOTAL BY SIGNING BELOW, I AGREE to be bound by all applicable Federation Rules and all terms and provisions of this entry blank and all terms and provisions of this Prize List. If I am signing and submitting this Agreement elecronically, I acknowledge that my electronic signature shall have the same validity, force and effect as if I affixed my signature by my own hand.
