Time for the “Grec” From June 20 to August 2, the “Greek season” takes over Barcelona. For a month and a half, the entire city will throw itself into the thirty-third celebration of our most beloved festival: the Grec. A score of venues will present theatre, music, dance and circus shows, but, as usual, the epicentre will be the Teatre Grec. This year, the programme at this Greek Theatre includes premieres (with a great New Italian Circus show), twelve nights of concerts featuring stars from both the national and international the scenes, and four stage productions that will see such outstanding performers as Jeanne Moreau, Amos Gitai, Romeo Castellucci, Rosa Novell, Laia Marull, Calixto Bieito, Eusebio Poncela and Georges Lavaudant, amongst others, grace the stage.

Tiempo de Grec A partir del 20 de junio y hasta el 2 de agosto Barcelona vive su Tiempo de Grec. Un mes y medio en que se presentará a toda la ciudad la trigésimo tercera edición de nuestro festival más querido. Entre los más de veinte espacios en los que se podrá ver teatro, música, danza y circo destaca el Teatre Grec, el epicentro de nuestro Festival.

Este año, su propuesta engloba desde el estreno, con un gran espectáculo del mejor Nuevo Circo italiano, hasta doce noches de música con conocidos nombres de la escena nacional e internacional, así como la presentación de cuatro espectaculares producciones teatrales que traerán a este singular escenario a artistas del nivel de Jeanne Moreau, Amos Gitai, Romeo Castellucci, Rosa Novell, Laia Marull, Calixto Bieito, Eusebio Poncela o Georges Lavaudant, entre otros.

This superb programme provides the perfect excuse to visit the open-air venue, built in a disused quarry on Mount Montjuïc for the 1929 International Exposition, emulating the architectural forms of the most classical Greek theatre. Moreover, the site is surrounded by magnificent gardens, completely restored this year in works that have seen the great rose garden returned to its original, early-20th-century layout. This, then, is the recipe for our most treasured theatre: openair performances amid a delightful natural setting. What better way to enjoy these summer nights than with the best of the Grec Festival?

La mejor de las excusas para visitar este teatro al aire libre, construido en una antigua cantera de la montaña de Montjuïc con motivo de la Exposición Internacional del año 1929 y que quiso copiar la disposición arquitectónica del teatro griego más clásico. Además, el espacio está rodeado de unos magníficos jardines que este año han sido completamente renovados, con lo que se ha devuelto la gran rosaleda a su diseño original de principios del siglo xx.
