STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to a week ago: Slaughter lambs traded steady to weak. Feeder lambs were sharply lower on comparable tests. Slaughter ewes traded steady to 8.00 lower and slaughter bucks had too light of a test for an accurate trend. Slaughter kids traded steady to 10.00 lower, while nannies traded unevenly steady and billies traded steady to 15.00 lower. Trade activity was good and demand was moderate. In the sheep supply 42% slaughter lambs, 23% feeder lambs, 34% slaughter ewes and bucks and the balance replacement stock. The goat supply consisted of 76% slaughter kids, 18% slaughter nannies and the balance slaughter billies and wethers. Wednesday, September 16, 2015 Around 340 head of slaughter cattle sold today. Overall, the market was about $2-3 lower than last week for comparable cattle. Lean, older beef cows averaged $85.00 and those on the younger side were in the low $90s. A very nicely muscled young beef cow out of Greeley brought $111.00. Lean, shelly Holstein cows ranged $75-85, while the younger lean and smooth Holsteins ranged $82-96. All natural feeder bulls out of Weldona averaged 1023# and brought $118.90.
