STATE AND FEDERAL REPORTING Compared to last week: Slaughter lambs traded 1.00 – 4.00 lower and feeder lambs traded 5.00 – 7.00 higher. Slaughter ewes traded 2.00 – 4.00 lower and bucks were too thin to test. Slaughter kids traded 4.00 – 11.00 lower. Slaughter nannies and billies mostly steady. Trade activity was moderate on moderate buyer demand. In the sheep supply 38% slaughter lambs, 26% feeder lambs, 36% slaughter ewes and bucks, balance mostly replacement sheep. The goat supply consisted of 77% slaughter nannies, 3% slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted. Over 450 head of slaughter cattle were sold today. The market was lower than last week in all classes of slaughter cattle. Beef cows ranging $115.50-119.50 for fat, lean beef cows ranged from 110.00-118.00. Thin Holstein slaughter cows ranged $95.00-97.00, lean 106.00-108.00 and fats $110.00-114.50. It was a good day for Holstein heifer buyers as groups from Draper UT, Panaca NV, and Loveland CO topped the market with quality heifers. A nice set of black steer calves, also from Draper, UT topped the feeder market at 431# and $313, with another group weighing 509# and bringing $277.
