Poudre Valley REA
D
o you or anyone in your family remember what life was like before electricity? Until 1939, much of this area had learned to survive without electricity while the cities thrived with the convenience of power. In 1939 that all changed for the rural Americans surrounding Fort Collins when Poudre Valley REA was founded by area farmers. Fast forward 76 years and many more members later, Poudre Valley REA is still a not-forprofit cooperative. We’re owned by our members, operating under the same guiding principles we established in 1939. When the REA was founded to bring electricity to the area, we were seen as a staple in the community. We’re still in the business of serving our local communities – providing reliable power and using our resources to care for the community.
The Cooperative is involved in and sponsors many local community events and county fairs, donates to local non-profits and spends resources on educating and encouraging members on using energy efficiently and safely. We also give out over twenty scholarships every year and send high school students to the annual Washington Youth Tour trip and Youth Leadership Camp. We have more in store for the members other than the electric bill they may get every month. Just like in 1939, we’re here to be a resource for the community. Our values remain the same as it did 75 years ago when a local band of farmers gathered together and decided to electrify rural Northern Colorado. Learn more about Poudre Valley REA and the history behind the local electric cooperative at www.pvrea.com.

Nonprofit organizations for Human Services & Disability Support
Humanity is revealed in our vulnerabilities & our compassion. The three non-profit agencies in this cause category represent areas most basic to human needs. By providing resources aimed at long term stability, no Weld resident should have to make hard choices that can impact proper nutrition or inclusion. We pride ourselves in the values that every resident brings to Weld County. These services ease isolating obstacles so residents can focus on the values & abilities that they can contribute to a greater tomorrow. The abilities of these agencies to provide fresh produce to those in hunger & choices that can unveil new control increase the breadth & depth of an independence that can be maintained. We feed the future so that it may thrive & move forward with us.

A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.” Integrated Dental Arts is proud to support Human Services because it is important to our entire team that we reduce the effects of poverty on our county. No family should go without basic human needs such as food,
shelter, or education. We believe that every citizen of Weld County is a fundamental part of keeping our community happy and healthy. Partnering with our community, whether it is a food drive, toy drive, or a day of free care, is a part of our culture as a team and as individuals. We have all seen how donations, large or small, can make a huge impact in someone’s life. Winston Churchill said “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
