Compared to last month: Holstein steers under 500 lbs traded 11.00 -28.00 lower and over 500 lbs traded 4.00 – 15.00 lower. Trade activity and buyer demand was good. The supply consisted of approximately 90% Holstein steers with the balance being Jersey steers, Jersey cross steers and Holstein heifers. Approximately 8% of the supply weighed over 600 lbs. The next Holstein feeder cattle auction will be on Monday, August 1, 2016.

Compared to a week ago: Slaughter lambs traded mostly steady. Feeder lambs traded weak to sharply lower. Slaughter ewes traded unevenly steady. In the goat supply, slaughter kids and nannies/does traded unevenly steady. Slaughter bucks/billies were weak to sharply lower. Trade activity and demand was good. In the sheep supply 51% slaughter lambs, 21% feeder lambs, 26% slaughter ewes and bucks and the remainder were bottle lambs that ranged from 10 – 25 lbs. The goat supply consisted of 61% slaughter kids, 25% slaughter nannies/does and the balance slaughter billies and wethers. Sheep and lambs sold on a per cwt basis and goats sold on a per head basis unless otherwise noted.
