WELCOME TO CAMP U-NAH-LI-YA

ABOUT US

Owned and operated by the Greater Green Bay YMCA, Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya is located near Mountain, Wisconsin about 65 miles north of Green Bay. Nestled in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, camp is situated on 140 wooded acres with three bodies of water, newly-renovated facilities, and an abundance of nature.

CAMP CULTURE

The goal of YMCA Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya is to empower youth with the values of the YMCA through counselor relationships in the midst of exciting outdoor experiences. The values we teach cross all faiths and backgrounds; we empower kids to be caring, accept responsibility, show respect to others, and be honest. Our camp culture starts with well trained, loving, enthusiastic and dedicated staff. We are an ACA accredited camp. This endorsement assures our camp’s procedures and protocols are regularly reviewed. This review includes our staff’s vetting process and training process.

ABOUT OUR STAFF

At the heart of the Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya experience is our team of enthusiastic and dedicated staff. Summer staff members are selected based on their proven abilities working with children and desire to support our mission of building strong kids of solid character. All staff members are at least 18 years old and undergo extensive interviewing, reference checks, and background checks. The nice part is, we work above the standards. Each summer our counselors and managers go through over a week of training. These sessions include outdoor skills, activity planning, managing group dynamics, safety, training, and child development. They are ready and waiting for your camper to arrive.

OUR FACILITIES All campers sleep in cabins that create a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. Beds are twin sized bunks with 6 inch thick mattresses. Counselors sleep in the cabin with the campers and are available to assist any time of the night. Most cabins have indoor fireplaces and common areas to hang out, play cards and make friends during down time. Camp has a boys side and girls side, each with its own bathhouse with private showers (the bathhouses are cleaned daily). Campers attend the bathhouses as a group, supervised by staff. Shower times are scheduled at the end of the day with the youngest campers first. Meals are eaten in the dining hall, the largest building at camp. Food is prepared in our modern kitchen under the direction of our fabulous food service manager. Our kitchen is inspected annually by the health department and has an outstanding record for cleanliness and quality. Our meals are well balanced with a full salad bar available at least once per day. We are able to accommodate any dietary restrictions your camper might have. Parents are encouraged to be involved with making sure campers have a fun, safe and comfortable experience at camp. We would love to give you a tour anytime, just give us a call.

TEEN LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS Leadership for Teens ages 15-17

Our Teen Leadership Programs give your teen a chance to develop their skills working with campers, their team, and our staff of mentors. Designed for high school students, the CIT program concentrates on building the skills needed to be an effective counselor and youth mentor.

CIT (Ages 15-17)

The first week of the CIT-1 session focuses on learning effective leadership, teamwork, communication, problem solving, and how to be a positive role model to youth. CIT-1s spend the second week of their session shadowing a camp counselor and working directly with a group of campers to assist in activities. No experience required. The weekend stay-over is included with the camp fee. Weeks 2-3: June 18-30 Weeks 7-8: July 23-August 4 Weeks 9-10: August 6-18 Tier A: $820 Tier B: $759 Tier C: $697

CIT WILDERNESS TRIPS (Ages 15-17)

This 2 week program is designed like the normal CIT session but will present the materials in the context of leading campers on overnight trips. The first week is spent at camp going through our leadership curriculum and practicing hands on camping skills. During the weekend, the CITs form even tighter bonds as they go on a 2 night 3 day pack-out to practice their skills. During the second week the CITs will facilitate overnight trips, with the guidance of our counselors, for campers in our resident camp program. Each CIT will have the chance to plan, coordinate and lead campers on overnight camp-outs. Teens who have completed both CIT and CIT- Wilderness Trips will have a much higher likelihood of being hired if they pursue working at YMCA Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya. Weeks 5-6: July 9-21 Tier A: $820 Tier B: $759 Tier C: $697

ASSISTANT COUNSELOR (Ages 16-17)

The final step in our leadership program, Assistant Counselors will partner with a different cabin group each week to develop group management strategies, assist in running large and small group activities, and learn what it truly takes to become a wellrounded counselor. Weeks 2-3: June 18-30 Weeks 5-6: July 9-21 Weeks 7-8: July 23-August 4 Weeks 9-10: August 6-18 Price: $150

CUSTOM PAYMENT PLAN OPTION

Please call us at 715 276 7116 if you’d like to arrange a customized payment plan. Sometimes it’s more manageable for families to pay smaller monthly increments, or even bi-weekly payments. Camp provides return transportation to Green Bay on the last day of each camp session. The bus arrives at the West Side YMCA, 601 Cardinal Lane, at 4:30pm. You can choose to pick up your camper right at camp at 2:45pm on the last day of their session, if you prefer. (Most sessions end on Fridays, but some special programs such as adventure trips end on a different day.)

WEEKEND STAYOVER - $85

If your camper is registered for two consecutive weeks of camp, you can enroll in our convenient weekend stay-over option. Campers who stay at camp between their sessions are supervised by our camp counselors and enjoy camp activities, meals, and fun throughout the weekend. Campers will also have the opportunity to do their laundry.

WHAT IS TIERED PRICING? We understand that families have differing abilities to pay, so we offer a tiered pricing system to better accommodate all financial situations. Your choice does not influence the quality of the camp experience that your child will receive. Please consider selecting the highest tier that your family can afford. The tier that you choose is confidential and completely up to you.

TIER A

Most accurately reflects the true and actual cost of camp.

TIER B

A partially subsidized rate, but more closely reflects the actual cost of camp.

TIER C

Our historically standard program rate, which does not represent the true cost of camp. This rate is subsidized through fundraising, special events, and sustaining contributions.

CAMP FOR ALL: FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Additional financial assistance is available for camp through the YMCA’s Annual Campaign. Please contact us at 715 276 7116 for more information or download an application from www.campunahliya.org.
