Welcome

to the 11th Annual Waynesburg Sheep & Fiber Festival. This free festival is presented on the third weekend of each May at the Greene County Fairgrounds by Waynesburg Prosperous & Beautiful, Inc. With its origins as a downtown street fair, the Waynesburg Sheep and Fiber Festival maintains a goal of attracting visitors to our historic community of Waynesburg and highlighting the significance of the lamb & fiber industry in Greene County, Pennsylvania. Now staged at our local fairgrounds, the festival continues to offer a host of educational and entertaining exhibits, contests and activities for fiber arts enthusiasts from throughout the region; and to promote American Lamb as the preferred choice for delicious cooking and dining. Free sampling is plentiful all weekend. Our region’s history in American Lamb and wool production is rich and we proudly claim many productive sheep farming operations still today. Thank you for joining our celebration. Activities include juried crafts and fiber arts vendors and fiber supplies, lamb cooking presentations, shearing, spinning and weaving demonstrations, shepherding dog shows, breed pavilion, fiber arts contest, classes and demos, photo contest/exhibit, live music and interactive fiber-related children’s activities. Admission is free. Our festival is staged by a completely volunteer committee of area farmers, business people & community servants and is sponsored by civic-minded local business and industry. Enjoy your day!

Shepherding Dog Shows

Always a popular event, the shepherding dog shows feature professional trainer and shepherd Cindy Swain of Texas, demonstrating the natural herding instinct and capabilities of a well-trained sheep herding dog. Spectators are entertained and amazed by Cindy’s skilled Border Collies showing their stuff as they herd sheep and geese through obstacle courses. Three shows each day. Saturday & Sunday: Noon • 2pm • 4pm

Sheep & Alpaca Shearing Demo

Festival go’ers flock to the shearing demos for a great show watching expert shearer Ralph Adamson of Brave, PA as he skillfully removes the entire fleece from the sheep before their eyes. Following each sheep shearing, Rick Moser of Moser Farm near Burgettstown, PA will perform the same amazing task on an alpaca. There are three shearing demos each day. Saturday & Sunday: 11:30am • 1:30pm • 3:30pm

Come ready to bid! The Fleece to Shawl Competition is organized by Phil Galing and is sponsored by Lippencott Alpacas of Waynesburg, PA. Saturday 10am – Contest Begins.
