Checkthe roomventilation.Permanentand unobstructed ventilationmust be providedin all roomscontainingan unfluedheateroperatingon solidfuel, oil or gas. Locatethe heaterin the requiredposition,no nearerthan 200mmto any wall, or 300mmbelowany shelfor glass.lf used in a greenhouseenvironment, the average greenhousehas a turbulent atmospherewith hot air rising to be cooled against the glassto fall dom the sides. These convectioncurrenls are assisted by the heat, ideally the heatâ‚Źr should be placed centrallybeneaththe apex, at the oppositeend to the opening door. (see Diagram 1) Locatethe holesin the baseflangeof the heaterand markthroughwith a pencil. Remove heater, drill through the centre of each hole, suitablefor a 1' No 8 wood screw (use plugs if floor is concrete) Place heater over holes, insert screws and tighten. Pipe backtothe gas cylinder, terminatingin an approved14'w.9. Turn the gas ON at the cylinder, check all pipeworktor leakswith a soapy solution, bubbleswill appear if any leak is detected. Remember in additionto the safety hazard, unburned propanegas, even in minute proportions,is harmfulto plants,so a leak free installationis essential. Press and holdthe gas plunger, depressthe spark ignitor, repeat until pilot is lit. Keep the plungerdepressedfor a furthe|l0 secondsthen release slowlr. On first operationthe pipilork may be lilled with air and ignitionwill not be achieved until this air is purged out of the pipework, this may take a few minutes. When the pilotflame has been ignitedholdthe buttonin for a further10 secondsand then releaseslo\ily. The Dilotshouldnow remainlit. Turn the heaterOFF by shuttingthe gas off at the supply.
