Youth and maturity meet in a program that includes a quartet written by a then-63-year-old Leos Janácek while embroiled in a doomed love affair with a woman 37 years his junior, to whom he sent 700 “intimate letters.”

Each year, Sonoma State University’s Department of Music presents more than 100 performances for approximately 9,000 audience members. Outreach initiatives, festivals and invitationals annually bring an additional 2,500 secondary school students, teachers and guests to the campus.

These districts currently include: Santa Rosa City Schools, Waldorf Schools, West Sonoma County Union High School District and the Cotati Rohnert Park Unified School District.
