Bluegrass, folk, country, and classical elements combine in the musical offerings of Avery Fisher Prize winner bassist/composer Edgar Meyer, and mandolinist/composer Chris Thile, of Nickel Creek and the Punch Brothers. All-Brahms

Based in the world’s largest performing arts complex, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center draws more people to chamber music than any other organization of its kind. The Romeros

Known to millions as “The Royal Family of the Guitar,” the Romeros were founded half a century ago by the late Celedonio Romero, renowned as a soloist in Spain. The ensemble, now including members of the family’s third generation of virtuosos, has performed with countless symphony orchestras and has commissioned scores of works for guitar quartet. With their program ¡Viva Andalucía! the Romeros bring world premieres of works written for them, as well as Spanish favorites by Rodrigo, Albéniz, and Sor.

New Century Chamber Orchestra Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, Music Director, with the San Francisco Girls Chorus Handel, Corelli, Vivaldi, Piazzolla, Bach, Vaughan Williams, and Traditional HOLIDAY Songs FRIDAY, DEC. 12, 7:30 P.M.

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the New Century Chamber Orchestra performs without a conductor and makes musical decisions collaboratively. With a name that means “the voices blending together in warmth,” Na Leo is one of the most popular — and most award-winning — female Hawaiian group in the world. Consisting of three childhood friends, Nalani Choy, Lehua Kalima, and Angela Morales, the group had its first hit, “Local Boys,” when the friends were still teenagers. Today, they jointly compose, write lyrics, record, and perform music. In their Weill Hall debut, the trio presents an evening of contemporary hits and holiday classics.

This time the ensemble performs the Song of Eva Perón, a journey in dance and music through the life of the most important woman in Argentinian history. The Nile Project FRIDAY, FEB. 13, 7:30 P.M.

Founded in 2011 by Egyptian ethnomusicologist Mina Girgis and Ethiopian-American singer Meklit Hadero, the Nile Project was created “to address the Nile basin’s cultural and environmental challenges using an innovative approach that combines music, education, and an enterprise platform.” The unique sound of the Nile Project is created by a stunning variety of instruments from Nile-basin countries, including the masenko from Ethiopia, the ney and oud from Egypt, and the adungu from Uganda — in addition to violin, saxophone, bass guitar, and six vocalists singing in 11 languages.

Founded in 1918, the internationally renowned Orchestre de la Suisse Romande has built a solid reputation on its interpretation of French and Russian music of the 20th century. With conductor Charles Dutoit the ensemble offers a program consisting of Debussy’s Ibéria, Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini (with pianist Nikolai Lugansky), and Stravinsky’s Song of the Nightingale.

ISTANBUL: Music from the Ottoman Empire SATURDAY, FEB. 21, 7:30 P.M.

With a distinguished career as a concert performer, teacher, researcher, and creator of new projects, both musical and cultural, Jordi Savall is one of the most gifted musicians of his generation. Together with his ensemble Hespèrian XXI, Savall performs Istanbul, a program featuring “music from the Ottoman Empire in dialogue with Armenian, Greek, and Sephardic traditions.” Drawing on Savall’s album of the same name, the program reflects the cultural melting pot that Istanbul was during its medieval heyday.

In the more than forty years that he has been performing on the concert stage, American pianist Murray Perahia has become one of the most sought-after and cherished pianists of our time. The Mutter — Bronfman — Harrell Trio BEETHOVEN AND TCHAIKOVSKY SUNDAY, APR. 19, 7:00 P.M.

Three of the most distinguished musicians of our time — violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, pianist Yefim Bronfman, and cellist Lynn Harrell — join forces to explore two trios with special dedications by their composers: the Trio in A minor by Tchaikovsky, dedicated “In memory of a great artist,” in reference to his friend and mentor, the pianist Nikolai Rubinstein; and the mighty “Archduke” Trio of Beethoven, a “symphony for three musicians,” as some have called it, that was dedicated to the composer’s benefactor, student, and friend, Archduke Rudolf of Austria.
