President’s Message
Kevin Pegram 2023 GBA President
We hope everyone’s new year is off to a great start. It’s an honor to serve as our Association president this year. We are excited for the opportunities that are ahead of us and things we can accomplish working together.

First, I would first like to recognize Susan Mowery and the 2022 Board of Directors for an outstanding year, celebrating our 65th anniversary as the Greensboro Builders Association. Not only did we charter a new and growing Professional Women in Building (PWB) Council…we are also completing construction of our 65th Habitat home under John Hodgin’s leadership. Participation at membership meetings and events continued to grow during the year as we were able to finally emerge from the pandemic. We want to continue this trend this year…and that’s where I need your help and participation.
As a Board of Directors…we remain focused on the key priorities that our Association has outlined for the past several years…and to accomplish these we need member participation. I encourage you to consider joining one of our councils or committees to help support the goals and objectives we have.
Construction Careers: We all know the increasing challenges within our labor force. One of our priorities is to not only expand the partnerships we have with other organizations focused on workforce development…we also want to develop an annual Scholarship program with sustainable funding resources. If this is an area of interest, let us know as our planning team will be meeting soon.
Membership: Our membership team, under the leadership of Tom Hall & Sal Cagno, is focused on finding ways to grow membership and involvement in our Association. Are there programs or services that we could offer that would benefit your business? Give us that feedback…as our goal is to better serve and meet the needs of our members. If you’re looking for a place to plug-in and connect with other members…this is a great team to join… plus you’re guaranteed to have fun.
Advocacy: Monitoring and addressing regulatory and legislative issues impacting our business has always been a priority for our Association…and continues to be the “behind the scenes” part of our organization that is more valuable that you can know. As I participate in TREBIC, NCHBA and NAHB meetings, I continue to see first-hand the amount of work that is done on our behalf to try to minimize regulatory restraints that could literally put many of us out of business. There are many issues that are on the horizon that are going to require us all to make our voice heard locally, in Raleigh and DC.
Education, Marketing & Networking: Our councils and committees are focused on providing a variety of opportunities throughout the year. To provide value-added programs and services…we need your input and/or participation on these planning teams.
We encourage you to find a place to connect this year. Joining us for our First Wednesday membership socials is a great starting point to meet other members and learn more about areas of interest. Also, our March 30 Annual Awards Celebration needs to be on your calendar.
Look forward to seeing you soon!
