GFA Morning Tennis Camp Session I: June 25 - July 6 Session II: July 9 - July 20 Session III: July 23 - August 3 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Grades K - 12 This camp consists of three two-week sessions. Students may enroll in separate sessions or the entire six weeks. The program is designed to provide students with tournament training and fundamental skills needed to play and compete at any level. The younger students will be introduced to the game of tennis using smaller courts and kid-friendly balls. Each day our students will be involved with skill-building drills, match play and contests. This program will ensure that every student learns how to play in matches and build his or her technical skills and mental fortitude while having fun with the game. Camp will run rain or shine. GFA Baseball Camp Session I: June 18 - June 22 Session II: June 25 - June 29 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Grades K - 8 Calling all boys - come learn all about the sport of baseball, teamwork and sportsmanship! GFA Varsity Baseball Coach Todd Mathewson is looking forward to leading another successful camp. Students will learn all of the basic fundamentals including hitting, infield play, outfield play, pitching and base running. They will also participate in a game each day. Campers will be videotaped and their hitting and throwing mechanics will be compared to their favorite players such as Big Papi, A-Rod, CC Sabathia and Josh Beckett. This camp will run rain or shine and is designed for current grade levels K-8. Minimum enrollment required: 15 students; maximum enrollment 30 per session. Surf Fishing on Long Island Sound Session I: June 11 - June 15 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Grades 3 - 8 Session II: June 18 - June 22 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Grades 4 - 8 This camp will take place at Burying Hill Beach, which is a short walking distance from GFA. Session I will cover the basics of fishing. Students will learn how to cast, bait hooks and tie their own knots. Students will also learn about common fish and ocean creatures, tidal and water movement, weather and water safety. Session II will cover from the basics to the advanced level of surf fishing. Students will learn about fish, their habitats and the skills needed to pursue fish. All students will receive a basic tackle box with terminal tackle (hooks and sinkers) and lures in both wood and plastic. No previous fishing experience needed. Minimum enrollment required: 8 students; maximum enrollment 10 per session. Students need to bring: 7-8 ft. surf fishing rod with reel loaded 12-20 lbs. test, towel, water shoes, bathing suit, water bottle, bug repellent and sunscreen. FUN-damental Games & Sports June 11 - June 15 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Grades 1 - 5 Spend the afternoon playing any number of games and sports including soccer, tennis, basketball, baseball, floor hockey and more. Rain or shine, each afternoon will be filled with fun and skill-building games and activities. We will be using GFA’s fabulous new sports facilities. The new turf field, tennis courts, baseball field, and gyms are all available. Your child will be grouped according to age and ability in order to ensure that he or she has the best experience possible. Minimum enrollment required: 15; maximum 40. Students need to bring: Water bottle, sunscreen, comfortable athletic wear and a baseball style cap, if desired. Please have your child eat lunch before attending. GFA Wrestling Camp June 11 - June 15 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Grades 6 -12 A comprehensive wrestling program for middle and high school students. In this course, the students will be taught the fundamentals of wrestling techniques: takedowns, escapes, reversals, and riding. Nutrition and weight management strategies during the sports season will also be covered. The program will also feature guest instructors who have competed at the most elite levels of high school and college wrestling. Minimum enrollment required: 8 students; maximum enrollment 30. GFA Basketball Camp June 18 - June 22 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Grades 6 - 11 The GFA basketball camp is designed to provide students with the fundamental skills needed to play and compete at the appropriate level. At the GFA camp, each student will be involved with skill building drills, games and contests. GFA Refund Policy All payments received upon registering are non-refundable. If GFA cancels any session due to reasons beyond our control, families will be notified immediately and the course fee will be refunded in full.
