Greens Farms Academy (GFA) is an independent day school founded in 1925 and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). GFA has a total enrollment of 710 students coming from a total of 23 towns and cities across Connecticut and New York State. GFA has a Cum Laude Society Chapter, which was founded in 1979.
GFA requires a minimum of 20 credits of academic work for graduation including: English (4); mathematics (3); world languages (3 of one, or 2 each of two languages); history (2); International Relations (.5); science (2); and arts (1). GFA is also a member of Global Online Academy (GOA), a consortium of the world’s leading independent schools. Students are advised to take a maximum of three Advanced Placement courses in a given year. Arts
GFA views the arts as a fundamental component of a demanding curriculum. The Performing Arts and Visual Arts departments offer a full, four-year curriculum culminating in AP courses. Students regularly participate in concert performances, recitals, musicals, and plays. They also represent GFA in All-Region, All-State, and All-National performance ensembles. Athletics
GFA has a vibrant athletics program. Freshmen and sophomores are required to participate in three athletic seasons; juniors and seniors are required to participate in two athletic seasons. Independent Research
JENNIFER SHAIRER Office Manager jshairer@gfacademy.org

Signature Programs at GFA The World Perspectives Program (WPP) at GFA offers students across all divisions opportunities to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for effective global citizenship. Students passionate about Global Studies may apply to pursue a Diploma with a Concentration in Global Studies. As part of the concentration requirements, students engage in a global service learning trip. Additionally, there is a culminating independent year-long research project. The STEAM Program at GFA connects the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. In so doing, it fosters students’ enthusiasm for using design to solve real-world problems, preparing them for college and beyond in a technology -driven world. Students who complete the course requirements and a culminating independent project from conception through design and realization will graduate with a Diploma with a Concentration in STEAM. The Sustainability Studies Program at GFA caters to students who are passionate about the study of the environment and sustainability issues. Students interested in this program may apply to pursue a Diploma with a Concentration in Sustainability Studies. This concentration offers an interdisciplinary, project-forward program designed to empower students to explore their passions and become better stewards of their world.
