Picturesque Parks &Green Spaces

With nationally acclaimed parks across the entire metro, the Twin Cities has no shortage of wide-open spaces and pictureperfect views. Whether you’re looking to picnic, exercise, visit a historic landmark, or simply connect with nature, the Minneapolis and Saint Paul park systems have you covered.

Minneapolis

Minneapolis boasts an array of stunning parks that enchant visitors with their lush greenery, scenic trails, and serene lakeside views, offering a tranquil escape in the heart of the city

Boom Island Park For a perfect blend of nature and cityscapes, head to Boom Island Park, where you can find stunning views of the Minneapolis skyline while standing right on the Mississippi riverfront. The park features art installations, a playground, a miniature lighthouse, picnic sites, and riverside trails to explore.

Mill Ruins Park This historic site tells the story of the city’s remarkable success in the flour milling industry. At its peak, Minneapolis was producing over 20% of the nation’s total flour output, and it quickly became known as the “Flour Milling Capital of the World.” Today, the park features walking paths and bridges amid ruins of old flour mills and the water channels that powered them.

Mississippi Gorge Regional Park Situated along the east and west bluffs of the Mississippi River, this park offers scenic views all year long. Take the hiking and biking trails along either side of the river to explore the park’s ecologically diverse landscape. You might also spot a few feathered friends overhead—the gorge is home to over 150 migratory bird species and is a popular spot for bird-watching.

St. Anthony Falls This site on the Mississippi River is a must-see destination for visitors and holds great significance to the area—Minneapolis’ famous flour mills were once powered by the falling water, and the introduction of locks and dams to the falls expanded navigation of the river. The National Park Service offers free ranger-led walks along the Upper Lock and Dam, where you can see panoramic views of the falls, the Stone Arch Bridge, and the surrounding Mill District.
