JOIN THE DANCE as we paint the town orange!
May 4-12, 2019 | Holland, MI
JOIN THE DANCE as we paint the town orange!
This year, we are commemorating our ties to the Netherlands with some flair by painting the town orange!
Amsterdam celebrates their monarch’s birthday with an all-day extravaganza called Koninginnedag, heralding the House of Orange. During the celebration, citizens dress not only themselves, but also the entire city in orange for the festivities. For our 90th anniversary, Tulip Time plans to do the same: inviting Holland to gather together with orange spirit, dress, decor and paraphernalia. For Holland, Michigan, this celebration is about more than being Dutch. Tulip Time draws together the rich and diverse traditions of our entire community — those with Dutch heritage and those enlivening our community with other cultures and traditions — Latina, Native American, Indian and more.
When you join the Tulip Time celebration, you join an experience millions of people have enjoyed since the festival began in 1929. You join in parades, dance, national and local entertainment, dinner shows, a Dutch market, fireworks, and in the awe of seeing millions of tulips.
This is Tulip Time 2019, and we invite you to join the dance as we paint the town orange.
Each May, downtown Holland’s tulips spring up in vibrant beds of every hue — adorning the main 8th St. stretch, filling Windmill Island Gardens and coloring the curbs of our historic homes along the Tulip Lanes. Tulips are our city’s tradition. They are part of the heritage we love to celebrate. For exact locations, visit www.tuliptime.com/the-tulips.
