Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” Coco Chanel’s words, not mine, but it’s a great start. - Amanda Greenwood Editor In Chief

Name Cristyn Agency BOSS Hometown Auckland, New Zealand Based Manchester Favourite song Little girl Blue, any version, I alternate between Nina Simone and Janis Joplin. I tend to change favourites almost daily. So fickle! When I miss my family, Welcome home by Dave Dobbyn or American Pie. Favourite food Cake. Because good, beautiful cake makes everything okay. And it’s a celebratory food, so having it every day feels slightly decadent. Or fresh fruit in summer, like mangos and guava. Or my all time favourite fruit I can’t find here, Feijoa. It’s the hardest thing to describe, but, when perfectly ripe, it’s so delicious, even just thinking of the smell makes my mouth water. What did you want to be when you were a little girl? A newsreader What toys were you obsessed with? My toy cars, lego, those beads you made patterns with then ironed, hula hoops, rollerskates, gymnast Barbie, my Kermit soft toy, cameras, cupcake dolls, sylvanian families, panda puppets, toy train tracks. How many pairs of shoes do you own? Maybe 40 or so. Mainly from work, I probably still have some in NZ too. But it seems like all my family and friends have the same size feet as me, so it’s a constant battle to keep them. We timeshare. 21

AZTEC MEETS TECHNO Patchwork knitwear with tie-dye fabric, digital printed t-shirts, oversized knitted bangles & trainers with high heels are all part of the colourful, eclectic style of Timothy James Andrews. You might not have heard of Andrews just yet but this hot new talent hailing from Beverley, near Hull in East Yorkshire is destined to make his mark on the fashion world. As well as honing his experience at the Chelsea College of Art and the Royal College of Art (famous for churning out many of today’s most noted designers) he has the fortune of adding a number of other design power players such as Burberry Prorsum men’s and women’s knitwear to his list of working experiences. “At JL Cashmere I worked on the fashion production for Betty Jackson, Jasper Conran and Jonathan Saunders and also I worked very closely with the designer Clare Tough whilst setting up her new up and coming label”, said the young designer.

design : ONES TO WATCH “Currently I am enjoying media coverage of my spring summer collection featured in Dazed & Confused, i-D Magazine, Harpers Bazaar, Volt, V magazine, Tokion, Super Super, You magazine and broadsheet newspapers such as The Telegraph, Sunday Times, and the front page of The Independent!” Andrews small but perfectly formed women’s wear collections are awash with colour with a strong emphasis on knitwear, textiles and print. His emerging signature style has a central theme featuring neotribal aesthetics and some traditional African and Guatemalan patterns that are drawn on for inspiration. Referring to his Spring/Summer ‘08 collection, Andrews says, “it took me ages, lots of blood sweat and tears but it turned out ok in the end. Something to make my Mum proud anyway!” The highly ambitious and driven Andrews is already working hard on his Autumn/Winter ’09 collection. Andrews is definitely one to watch!

“My works are my diary, my observations, and my release.”

VINCENT BERNIER

Vincent has developed a style that he refers to as ‘constructed painting’ for which he assembles a collage of fragmented objects, frequently gaining inspiration from the works of old master’s. This collage foundation is then worked upon using various media to create the finished piece. The composite forms he creates on reclaimed boards from thrown elements have a sense of the monumental, whatever their size. A sensuality of form and texture can be found in every piece, justifying his sold out exhibitions throughout the years. His work explores the ‘pop constructivist’ style he has cultivated through works built up using layers of recycled images, paint and other mediums. The principal subject he examines in much of his work is the human form and sexuality. This subject has gained much acclaim from people that have had opportunity to view work throughout Vincent’s various noted exhibitions. His merciless vision has contributed much to the controversy his art has always aroused.
