Date of Task: Exam Period, week 5

Mode being assessed: Language and Visual Representation Weighting: 25% Timing: 5 minutes reading time followed by 60 minutes to complete the task. Outcomes being assessed A student: 1. Responds to and composes texts for understanding, interpretation, critical analysis and pleasure 2. Uses a range of processes for responding to and composing texts. 3. Uses, describes and explains how different technologies affect and shape meaning. 4. Uses language forms and features, and structures of texts according to different purposes, audiences and contexts. 6. Draws on experience, information and ideas to imaginatively and interpretively respond to and compose texts. 8. Investigates the relationships between and among texts. 9. Demonstrates understanding of the ways texts reflect personal and public worlds.

Nature of task Language & Visual Representation Assessment: Section A: You will be required to respond to a range of questions using a visual representation and prose stimulus materials to show understanding of content along with language forms and features. Section B: You will be required to construct a piece of writing in response to a piece of stimulus.

Marking Criteria In this task you will be marked on your ability to: * Understand and analyse a variety of texts * Use language appropriate to audience, purpose and form * Display knowledge and understanding of visual techniques * Communicate ideas cohesively and effectively * Compose a well-developed writing text that addresses the topic perceptively * Display knowledge and understanding of visual techniques
