Australia between the Wars Weighting 25% Due date: 15th August 2011

This topic offers students CHOICE in their study of specific aspects of Australia’s social, cultural and political development between the wars, including the experiences of individuals and groups and defining moments in Australia’s inter-war history. Outcomes 5.1 explains social, political and cultural developments and events and evaluates their impact on Australian life 5.4 sequences major historical events to show an understanding of continuity, change and causation 5.5 identifies, comprehends and evaluates historical sources 5.6 uses sources appropriately in an historical inquiry 5.7 explains different contexts, perspectives and interpretations of the past 5.8 locates, selects and organises relevant historical information from a number of sources, including ICT, to undertake historical inquiry. Your task:

You have been asked by the Australian National Museum’s Display Coordinator to create a display for an Australian identity to reenergise the 1920s and 1930s section of the museum. The purpose of this task is to clearly communicate the significance and contribution of the identity or event in Australian history. The personalities to be selected from are Rev John Flynn, Dame Nellie Melba, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, Sir Donald Bradman, Sir Isaac Isaacs, Nancy Walton, Margaret Preston or Roy Rene. Present your findings as a Prezi presentation Include a bibliography (either in your Prezi or as a separate hand-in) – indicating the variety of the sources you have used to complete the task (NOT ALL WIKIPEDIA) Hand-in your marking criteria sheet to the box provided at student office + any bibliography on the due date Email your teacher the link/URL of your Prezi before 8.45am on the due date.

Log onto to the Prezi website http://prezi.com/ and register to create your account. Once you have logged into this software, you must look at the tutorials prior to the in-class day allocated for you to work on your task. Your teacher will advise you of this date. You are also advised to keep a copy of the material you have found in a separate document, just in case there are technical issues with Prezi. Significance relates to the overall importance of actions and impact on Australian history. Contribution relates to the actions of the individual in that time.
