LOOK BEFORE YOU LOCK! A car can become deadly hot in just 10 minutes.

Just last week FIVE KIDS in Florida were locked in hot cars. Please help us spread the message to LOOK BEFORE YOU LOCK so we can stop these terrible tragedies from happening!

Remember to:  Check the back seat before you leave the vehicle.  Put your purse, briefcase, lunch, etc. in the backseat so you are sure to look before you lock the door.  Do not let your children play near vehicles; they may accidentally lock themselves in.  If there is a change in plans and someone else is dropping the kids off at summer camp, have them call you at drop off so you know everyone made it safely.  Call 911 immediately if you see a child locked in a hot car.

CONGRATULATIONS The grandsons of Ricci Stafflinger have had an outstanding year! Nasin carried a GPA above 3.75 and received a scholarship for academic excellence from the South Beach Seahawks for the coming season. He also received a Character Counts award for Respect from Ocean Breeze Elementary .Nasin is also in Ocean Breeze Vistas program.

Dakota had all s and o's , he is in first grade. He received Character Counts awards for Citizenship and The Principals Award for academics and character. Dakota also won an award for Outstanding Author for a book he wrote.

Congrats to Nasin & Dakota Wright for being outstanding students. Each won prizes for their hard work they put into their studies. How are your grandchildren’s grades? Let us know; maybe they will win one of our outstanding student awards!

BACK TO SCHOOL Summer break is almost over and before you know it, your grandchild will be back in school.

Like any other family, it is only natural for you to feel stressful when faced with the challenges of transiting from summer break back into school mode.

Prep your home with storage space so that you can keep everything in place. Store your child’s items in bins, baskets or cubbies and label them properly so that he can have access to his/her things easily.

Have a Daily Checklist Once school starts, you should have a daily check list ready. This is to ensure that you do not miss out anything as you or your child might take some time to establish a routine.

Minimize Chaos in the Morning Try to get ready the things that you can do ahead of time.

Examples include pre-packing the backpack and lunch box as well as laying out the clothes the night before.

A Calendar is a Must!

Imagine the sea of schedules in a school year. You need to keep track of after-school activities, school programs, meet-theteacher night, field trips, volunteer work, etc. Have all these dates recorded on your calendar and it will help you stay on top of things. . of Brevard will have back to school supplies available at the office if your child is in need of a backpack and/or supplies please contact us at 321-631-7776 with grade/age.

August 21st – School starts for Kindergarten August 25th – School starts for VPK HEAD LICE With school come many challengers for students, parents and teachers. One of the unpleasant challengers is head lice. There are many over-thecounter products that you can purchase as well as treatments that you get from your doctor.

You may want to try these remedies that many people have reported having success with.

Drench the hair in old-fashioned amber Listerine for half an hour or so (wrapping the hair in a towel).

The dead lice and nits are combed out. Another option is Cepaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.

Put the Cetaphil in dry hair, comb the excess out then blow-dry the hair. Leave in the hair for at least 24 hours then shampoo it out.

Check for nits. Do a follow-up treatment seven days later to catch any bugs that hatched from eggs. Tips to avoid lice: Use your own hair comb & hair brush.

Don’t borrow & use hair combs and hair brushes of other people.

Don’t borrow and wear hats and headgear of other people. Wash your hair, hair comb & brushes often using hot water and soap.

UPCOMING EVENTS Amie Harris from Take Stock in Children will be the guest speaker at the Support Group Meeting at 123 Barton Blvd, Rockledge on September 16th. Take Stock in Children is a program that targets deserving 7th, 8th & 9th grade low-income students to receive tuition-paid scholarships for college or vocational school. If your grandchild is in one of the grades listed, come to this important meeting. Learn how this program works. Learn all of the requirements that your grandchild has to maintain.

If your grandchild is in 7th, 8th or 9th grade; and has a 2.5 GPA or higher - YOU are urged to attend this meeting Come prepared to ask questions.

Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left the room, she heard the threeyear old say with a trembling voice, “Who was that?”
