MORNING TEA OPTIONAL SESSION
Ideas for Bringing Assemblies Alive ( Room)
School assemblies are important, but that doesn’t mean that they need to feel flat. This short session will include some quick videos and practical tips to help bring your assemblies alive. If you are involved in organising school assemblies, year group assemblies, or house assemblies, you will find this optional session helpful. It will only go for the first 10-15 minutes of the break so that you can still get some fresh air afterwards.
ELECTIVE SESSION #1 (choose one)
How to Get Everybody Participating in Big Events ( Room)
Every student leadership team wants to see greater participation in the events that they organise. The solution isn’t to just keep putting up more posters, nor is it dragging along students who don’t want to be there. This workshop unpacks three practical strategies that lead to greater participation, with numerous examples from other schools.
How to Make Every Student Feel Valued ( Room)
Being a student leader shouldn’t only be about ‘doing things’ if none of it actually leads to students feeling comfortable and valued. This workshop identifies three of the common mistakes that leaders make without realising it, and how to replace these with three positive strategies. It’s a serious topic, but as a workshop this is lots of fun.
ELECTIVE SESSION #2 (choose one)
How to Get Everybody on Board With a New Idea ( Room)
Do you have a new idea for your school, and you are a bit nervous about whether it will get the support that it needs to go ahead? There is no ‘quick fix,’ but this workshop gives strategies for getting your school staff on board, as well as your fellow leaders and the broader student body.
How to Replace Conflict With Unity ( Room)
This will be a helpful workshop if you would like to see more unity within the leadership team, amongst year groups, or between friendship groups who seem to clash. This workshop unpacks five tips to apply to any of these situations. Even though this topic is about conflict, there will be lots of laughs and activities to enjoy.
